Battle of Midway-YouTube “Sand Table”

YouTube user “Montemayor” created a video depicting the Battle of Midway. This is seen from the Japanese perspective. The video explains things based on Japanese Navy observation. Without providing information on what the American Navy was doing, Montemayor presented the battle picture that the Japanese visualized and the problems this picture posed for them. Based on what they were seeing, they had to make decisions.

You could tell, without getting a description of what the American side was doing, that the US Navy knew how the Japanese Navy did things. They capitalized on Japanese Navy weaknesses. According to history.com, this battle took place from June 3-6, 1942. However, other articles have different start and end dates… Same general time frames that include June 4-6, 1942.

The video is worth the watch.

History.com has additional history in this article. Thanks to Ninja for this second link covering the Battle of Midway.

BZ to Big Navy with particular attention paid to the Aviators and intel weenies who managed, under extreme circumstances to kick ass and turn the tide toward the ultimate victory in the Pacific Theater. And a Salute to the Jarheads that held the line in the Air and on the Island.

Cool linkys here boys and girls,Tanks for posting. Took me a minute to get thru it all, was also working on my yard bird for the chicken n dumplin’s. Ten pounds of, y’all know how I am, legs and thighs. Mostly for the dumplin’s but we will be putting some into the cornbread dressing.

Don’t forget the Army Air Corps crews of those four Army B-26s who joined their Marine Aviation brethren in the near-suicidal bombing attack on the Japanese carriers on the morning of 4 June 42. Brave men all…

Thanks CH, that thought hit my stroked out brain right when I hit the post button. That’s what I get for trying to do too much multitasking. Trying to do the greeting, 6 maybe 9 dishes are cooking at the same time, and keeping tenuous coverage of TAH. The struggle is real.

The B-26 crews didn’t get no where near the credit they should have through the entire war in each theater. Always liked that Army Aircraft.

There were B-17’s involved too.

Thank You for sharing this, especially the video.

Finally broke down and watched “Midway”, the 2019 version AND the 1976 version.

The ninja family really enjoyed the 2019 version.

The ninja family scratched their heads at the ending of the 1976 version, where the troops returned to Hawaii. All extras in the background of the last scene were dressed in 1976 clothing, NOT 1942 clothing.

Go figure.

😎😉

Thank You again!

Saw the 1976 version when it came out.
Cool movie for the time but some people
took it too far:
