Scotty sent this to us over the weekend and I was holding on to it for a drought, but our own Ex-PH2 was excited that Daniel A. Bernath was a PH2, too. Just by looking at the rank on his sleeve, you can tell he’s a phony since, instead of laying out the bucks for new rank, he had a stripe embroidered on the sleeve. He has service stripes for twenty years of service, but his FOIA tells a different story;
3 years and change in active service, and a couple of years in the Reserves. Now let’s do some math – you’ll need most of your fingers, he’s wearing seven awards in the picture and the FOIA says that he has five. Well, finally we got a Navy phony who is not a SEAL.

My grandfather was a 3 war Veteran(WW2,Korea,Viet Nam) in the Navy. He earned his medals, never really talked about his service and retired after 30+ years in the service. You sir are not worth a drop of sweat from his nether regions. He was a true sailor, salty as hell and one of the greatest men I have ever known.
To the Navy types running around here, seeing how he never really talked about his time in the Navy I was wondering if you guys could do some checking for me. He was on the Manilla Bay in WW2 at some point from what my dad told me(he is a Viet Nam Navy Vet himself). Tell Jonn to give you my email if you want, I have a lot of respect for you squids, I decided to be like the black sheep of his brothers and Join the Army myself. 😛

I think his lawsuit he has pending because of his crash will be a bit different than him suing YELP because he got slammed on a consumer review will be quite different.
In a bad way. YELP pretty much just brushed him off. He is going after the Aircraft Manufacturer, The School that taught him to fly, The FRICKING FAA and several “un-named” entities. Knowing this piece of shit he is going after the owners of the airstrips ground personnel and anyone who had contact with him that day.
I could easily see dumb-ass getting counter-sued. The FAA will probably pull his license and he will have a hard time finding a place to keep his plane and fly it out of, since he is such an asshole.
This guy is a total scumbag, he’s alienated his own wife and kids, pissed off the legal community, pilots and now veterans. Can this guy really say he has anyone in his corner other than the bullshit letters he probably forged himself?

By the way, despite what Frank Capra said in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, George Bailey DID serve, from 1950 to 1969, and retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer. And of course, he did go back to Bedford Falls afterwards. So there!

Old Dog, I’m trying to figure out what he refers to when he uses that, because there is a social group for ex-Navy photographers, vets and retired, but that’s all it is and it has no authority to issue an Honorary CPO title. The other simple concept that this silly imposter seems to not understand is that there are a bazillion or so social groups that hand out honorary this and that. Most of us here probably have at least one somewhere. Could be an “Admiral,” “General,” or any number of other possibilities that may or may not sound somewhat military.
Their value is that they are something fun to frame and hang on the wall of your office. Seeing them usually results in a smile while remembering good times and good friends. Some of them have tales associated with them that can be shared with others. Some do not. They are not something to be placed on a resume.

I find it interesting that he asks for attorney’s fees. He’s representing himself; can an attorney who represents himself demand a fee for representing himself? If he is indeed claiming to represent himself as an attorney (as opposed to being a pro se plaintiff), he may have a problem as this suit was filed at a time when he was ineligible to practice law (his CA law license was inactive). By asking for attorney’s fees – and having a footer reading “Daniel A. Bernath, Esq.” at the bottom of each page – he sure seems to be holding himself out as an attorney. Can he do that at a time that he’s ineligible to practice law?
