A few more holes in the story.
Surely a CAP Lieutenant Colonel would know that the correct format for name and rank is this: Your Name, Lt Col, CAP
He was using LTC–the Army way. I had to learn that lesson when I rejoined CAP as a senior member.
He also referred to a T-41 Bird Dog. Wrong. It’s T-41 Mescalero. An O-1 is a Bird Dog.
Attention to detail…gets them every time.
As a current CAP member, I can confirm the following:
1. He is NOT a current CAP member, but I am inclined to believe that he was at one time.
2. We fly Cessna 172s, 182s, and the Gippsland G-1000. That’s it.
In picture 2 from “SOS” in 2011 the guy is wearing a blue nametag with CAP insignia. In CAP we reserve blue nametags with white writing for Cadets. Senior members wear grey with white writing unless they wear a blues jacket then it is polished metal name tag AF style. I am a 1LT and served as a cadet from 13 to nearly 21. As someone who has spent more than half a lifetime with the organization, this stood out immediately.
He put his “stolen valor” page back up after scrubbing the hell out of it. He’s still claiming to be some high speed tactical trainer. He’s also using Don Shipley’s course in his bio. I’m sure Don would love to have this guy’s name so he can watch out for him. Maybe pick ol’ Denny boy out for some “special love.” I still find it ironic that Dennis claims to be a stolen valor hunter.

Yeah, well, he said that he used to enjoy TAH, too, until we wrote about him. So we’ve lost another reader.
I wonder if Don Shipley keeps records of who takes his course.
I was able to locate the SETI logs you say he says he is a retired USAF on. It bothers me that there are TWO email blocks there and as I read the entire 17 pages of it is says by others that he answers from across 3 accounts. Its looks like (to me) he might of simply got tired of typing and didn’t finish his email signature.
As for the other things here, I called Wilmer PD where he was a police LT in their SWAT teams and he was!
I called the Texas Wing of the Civil Air Patrol and he is a twice retired Lt. Col. (he had cancer and retired, then got better and went on to continue and retired again in December 2013.
I also checked his publications. He is featured in several books and papers for investigations AND his son was shot and I think killed by a serial killer in Frisco, Texas.
This guy is the real deal I think aside from his typo I’m giving him benefit of the doubt because all over FB is asked if he is AF and he says NO.
I can’t find the flight aware entries but the FAA says he is a Commercial pilot and instructor but his medical is expired.
I think you messed up with this guy but what do I know…keep up the good work.
Linda – he wasn’t tired of typing when he posted on the flight aware forum that he used to fly C-130H Compass Call in Iraq. Now that post is gone, as if that burrito never happened. Apparently he wasn’t too tired to do some house cleaning. On Facebook he claimed to have flown the C-130 and T-38 among others. Also, as pointed out in post #151 above, he doesn’t apparently know the difference between a taildragger and a tricycle gear single engine Cessna. As Green Thumb so succinctly put it, the guy is a turd.

@ 157– Civil Air Patrol Retired Status. A member in good standing with a minimum of 20 years service as a member, not necessarily continuous and not including cadet time, is eligible to retire from Civil Air Patrol. Also members having 10 years service as of 1 December 1994 may retire with 12 years service.
All this means for the CAP member is once retired, members will not actively participate in any capacity.
Regardless he has no Federal military commission and no Federal military commissioned officer rank.

Some, on the other hand, are a bit different.

Hey Linda, I didn’t write it… I just found it. Sorry it does not conform to your hypothesis. In my experience (and yes, I was born when Chevalier was flying T-38’s or whatever) quite often, people that have been through hell have had some part in bringing it on themselves. My sympathy goes to the wives and the kids. Ciao.

I don’t think that anyone here knows where he got his PhD. If we did, that could be easily enough verified by contacting the school.
I do wonder why that information (the institution granting his degree) seems to be so difficult to find, though. It almost seems like that information is being withheld for some reason.
I haven’t asked him about his PhD or DM but I know the later if from Colorado Technical University I think. Haven’t checked that as there was/is no need to in my opinion.

Hey Linda, I got news for you. The father son thing was public info. One of the parties involved in the correspondence posted it PUBLICLY. It was not password protected in any way shape or form. If you feel that it should not have been disclosed, it would appear that your issue is with the person that posted it on the INTERNET with a Expiry of NEVER.
You come in here from God knows where politely insinuating and implying that Chevalier is a good cub scout. However, there appears to be evidence to the contrary. Why is it going “way too far” in pointing out that evidence exists?

I knew a fake Ph.D. once. She was head of a MD agency. She absolutely insisted that no one call her doctor. She thought that was so snooty. Well, turns out that her insistence was to save her from constant reminders of her Big Lie. You see, she had no doctorate and, within 24 hours of that being learned by the governor, she had no job either. Dr. Chevalier has a nice ring to it.
