Bateman on guns – it’s time to shut up

| December 4, 2013

Several of you have sent us a link today written by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Lake Bateman, who does happen to be an infantry officer and is currently assigned to HQ ARRC in the UK. His article in Esquire is pretty much what we expect to read from hippies at Enquirer, but not from an infantry officer who has sworn to protect and defend the Constitution. Basically, he wants you to own only weapons which were last modern in the late 19th century;

The only guns permitted will be the following:

a. Smoothbore or Rifled muzzle-loading blackpowder muskets. No 7-11 in history has ever been held up with one of these.
b. Double-barrel breech-loading shotguns. Hunting with these is valid.
c. Bolt-action rifles with a magazine capacity no greater than five rounds. Like I said, hunting is valid. But if you cannot bring down a defenseless deer in under five rounds, then you have no fking reason to be holding a killing tool in the first place.

If you think that gun ownership is limited to hunting, you have no f*cking reason to be participating in this debate, Bobbie.

We will pry your gun from your cold, dead, fingers. That is because I am willing to wait until you die, hopefully of natural causes. Guns, except for the three approved categories, cannot be inherited. When you die your weapons must be turned into the local police department, which will then destroy them. (Weapons of historical significance will be de-milled, but may be preserved.)

So, when you die, your gun dies with you. Never mind that you’ve invested thousands in your collection and you’d hoped it would be part of your legacy for your children and on down the line like Americans have done for genrations, Bobbie says ‘no’, so you can’t, and just because some woman shot another person over the results of a sports match. It’s not her fault, it’s all of us.

Police departments are no longer allowed to sell or auction weapons used in crimes after the cases have been closed. (That will piss off some cops, since they really need this money. But you know what they need more? Less violence and death. By continuing the process of weapon recirculation, they are only making their jobs — or the jobs of some other cops — harder.)

I say we stop buy back programs, because they don’t do anything anyway except those those cheapo Saturday night into drug cash for users. But, Bobbie, in his infinite wisdom, thinks they work, so he wants to expand the program;

We will initiate a nationwide “buy-back” program, effective immediately, with the payouts coming from the DoD budget. This buy-back program will start purchasing weapons at 200 percent of their face value the first year, 150 percent the second year, 100 percent the third year. Thereafter there will be a 10 year pause, at which point the guns can be sold to the government at 10 percent of their value for the next 50 years.

Yeah, because that’s what the DoD does so well – operate social welfare programs. Dumbass.

We will submit a new tax on ammunition. In the first two years it will be 400 percent of the current retail cost of that type of ammunition. (Exemptions for the ammo used by the approved weapons.) Thereafter it will increase by 20 percent per year.

Taxes are always a solution. Personally, I have several years worth of ammo to maintain my training for the day Bobbie decides to come for my guns.

The major gun manufactures of the United States, less those who create weapons for the federal government and the armed forces, will be bought out by the United States of America, for our own damned good.

Because the Federal Government always knows what’s best for us and always acts in our interests, right, Bobbie? Take healthcare for example.

It’s come to my attention that little Bobbie Bateman has taken to threatening people who disagree with him. Threaten me, Bobbie.

These opinions are those of the author and do not reflect the United States government, the United States Department of Defense, the United States Army, or any other official body. As for the NRA, they can sit on it.

They can’t sit on it while you have it jammed up your ass, Bobbie, you pole-smoking Leftist freak. Like I said, he’s got his Hello Kitties underoos bunched because some halfwit woman shot someone over the outcome of the Alabama game the other day. Millions of gun owners didn’t shoot anyone that day, including me, but apparently Bobbie Bateman wants to punish the tens of millions of gun owners because one was a moron. Do you think someone that stupid will turn in their guns so Bobbie will stop wetting his panties? Seriously?

Shut up, Bateman, you’re just another hand-wringing pussy from the Left.

Did he say how he proposes to withdraw from circulation all of the non-compliant weapons and ammo in America? Anything he does will mushroom the illegal weapons and ammo market. I’m thinking it’s time for someone to set up a low profile brass foundry and primer manufacturing shop.

“Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment. We do not interpret constitutional rights that way. Just as the First Amendment protects modern forms of communications, e.g., Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U. S. 844, 849 (1997), and the Fourth Amendment applies to modern forms of search, e.g., Kyllo v. United States, 533 U. S. 27, 35–36 (2001), the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding.”.”

Sorry to inject reality into your masturbation fantasy.

Thanks to my fans. I appreciate the support. Now go buy another gun for Christmas.

@51

Supporting gun control should be a federal crime … 20 years minimum, no parole.

Heck, no trial, either. People like that aren’t entitled to rights under the Constitution.

I mean, that is your whole argument, isn’t it? That Constitutional rights don’t really matter?

Green Thumb

Wow.

And an IN Officer (AD) no less.

Sir, you are way out of line.

Take a seat from your staff position.

Now, reread the UCMJ and the Officer and NCO manuals/guidebooks to include the RH.

Wow.

The Al

@51- Judging from the rambling, incoherent nature of your post I’m betting your breath is Windexy fresh

Virtual Insanity

VWP,

How far do you think, really, an armed populous will allow itself to be pushed?

Have you been watching arms and ammunition sales data? This is not a country of people preparing to hunt. They are preparing for battle.

For the exact reason the 2nd Amendment exists; to stop an out-of-control government.

The frog now knows the water is boiling.

You and Bateman are useful idiots for the side that seeks to control and enslave.

USAF.E-6Ret

I refer you to NGB 10-4 and 32 U.S.C. § 109. They define the militia as it exists today. I was in the Virginia Defense Force(militia)from 1996 until I reached 75 this year.

How soon we forget our history. A militia man in Grenada killed 6 Ranger/Special Forces troops before surrendering. He said the only reason he didn’t kill more was because they only issued him 6 rounds of ammunition. His action was not a fluke.

The US is not Australia. Any attempt to round up weapons will result in a blood bath for both sides. Cooler heads will prevail.

OldSoldier54

@49 – Yep, it pretty much a check box for promotion thing. Not a lot of slots in the Ranger Regiment.

MAJ Arkay

@43, just wanted you to know I read your book. My face is sore from laughing so much. When does the next book come out?

QMC

Oberstleutnant Bateman needs to shut his fascist mouth, or step his fascist self away from the keyboard, or whatever.

USAF.E-6Ret

I read the whole thing again. 400% of retail? Two year window? I would wager enough machine shops would jump into the weapons manufacturing business and crank out weapons faster than the DoD could process them in. A production cost of $300 (half of retail), purchased for $2,400? I can see unlimited overtime and three shifts per day, seven days per week. One way to address the job shortage, I guess.

68W58

Sure vwp-We’ll all just sit at home and wait, cowering in fear.

What you don’t seem to understand is that we’re not like you-cowardly, wretched and pathetic. You being a nasty little totalitarian bootlicker probably can’t understand that. Just keep waiting for magical “minorities” to take you to progtopia-I’m sure that’ll work out perfectly for you.

Mr. Blue

vwp’s guide to gun ownership:
Citizens owning guns to defend themselves = bad.
Marxist guerrilas owning guns to fight a designated bad country = good.
Marxist governments using guns to drive people into reeducation camps and gulags = good.
Marxist dictators using guns to kill millions in the 20th century along = orgasmically good.

UpNorth

vwp, your momma entertaining the next door neighbor again, so you get to use her computer?

Just An Old Dog

VWP
Why are you concerned so much about firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens? You are a filthy, pitiful excuse for a human being. You should be very afraid of guns being taken away from Americans. The next step is locking up or exterminating those who are considered a drain on society. In other words you. The only thing that stands between idiots like you and a Government Death Squad are sheepdogs with firearms.

Cliff Clavin

LTC Bateman is a dumbass. And he shouldn’t have spouted off on a political issue while identifying himself as an officer.

Instinct

VWP – suck it, you sniveling sack of wombat shit. I am very, very sure you would be one of the first ones cheering as people are lead away to prison for having the ‘wrong’ sort of thoughts.

You would also be very surprised when they came for you when they decide that your thoughts aren’t approved either.

As far as Bateman goes, he can have my guns. He and his goons will just have to go through a wall of lead to take them.

USAF.E-6Ret

Oops. My bad. 200%, purchased @ $1,200. (Cut me some slack – I’m old)Argument still holds. Smuggling in weapons would be more profitable than dope. And we know they won’t/can’t seal the border. I don’t see a good ending to this if it ever gets off the ground.

68W58

I’m sure vwp would make himself very useful to such a regime. Well as useful as he’s capable of being, which isn’t much, but you don’t have to be particularly “useful” in the traditional sense to inform and toady and otherwise wriggle on his belly like the reptile that he is. That’s as useful as he possibly can be, which is pathetic and sad, and I’m sure he’s salivating at the opportunity to get what revenge he can on all of those who are more capable and successful than he is-which is to say pretty much everyone who isn’t institutionalized (and even many of them).

H1

I was fuming in the comments section of the article and ran into himself responding to another’s post. https://www.facebook.com/robert.bateman.374
Wonder what the troops think of him.

Ex-PH2

@62 – Book #2 of B&B comes out as soon as I can get it done, in 2014. You liked it?????? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You made my day, pilgrim.

Hey, who’s this eponious ‘they’ vwpissant talks about? Is it a squad of yeti? What a goatsucker he is.

malclave

@64

Also, I can see firearms manufacturers starting to produce the cheapest weapon they can and “retail” it at astronomical prices.

“Yeah, this little Saturday Night Special? Retails from $50,000.”

LTC Bateman, this proud Signal Corps Sergeant First Class (retired) is hereby publicly calling you a pussy and a disgrace to the officer corps. Pack your shit, retire, and then you can spew your diatribes to your hearts content. Until then, I suggest you shut up, step down from any leadership position, call ACAP & start working on your resume. You sir, are a failure as a commissioned officer and leader of Soldiers. You will not be missed.

Read about half dozen of his guys blathering bullshit stories and you can see exactly what kind of douche-nozzle he is. At least half the time he has to let you know he has a Ranger tab (can we find out if he ever served in the Battalion?) and Airborne wings then the other half he spends bad mouthing his fellow Americans and fawning over how wonderful and enlightened the Brits are. Fuck this turd burglin’, self righteous, pompous jack hole. Here’s a good sample of this fuck sticks views of his fellow Americans…it’s a short read so you guys don’t have to waste your time with this mouth breather.

sound awake

its actually pretty scary that leftism has infiltrated our military to this degree
we conservatives always ALWAYS had the military on our side as a hedge against an out of control government
im not sure about that anymore
this is the stuff nightmares are made of

@ #67_UP: *cackle* Naw,hell naw. He mama be down here on Fulton Industrial swanging her big ol ass around hoping she make herself some a dem Obama dolla’s, bro…

I want to see this so-called “infantry occifer” out in the woods with his muzzle loader taking on a pack of grey wolves. Fuck him! In the ear with a frozen trout…

It’s incredible to me that a cuntclown like Bateman somehow made O-5! “Pathetic” doesn’t even begin to describe this shitrocket.

ConcernedCitizen

@73 That sir is digging himself a bretty deep hole with the way he’s responding to some of them. One of them to a profile called “Michigan Gun Rights”:

“Except, dumbshit, the Second Amendment does NOT say, “We the people.”

Christ, how dumb can you be?”

ho boy

Eagle Keeper

“Hunting is valid”? Well, that YOU very much, Col. Bob. How generous.

Except that the Second Amendment has about as much to do with hunting as the First has to do with playing Scrabble. Which is to say, nothing.

I think it’s about time for you to find some honest work in the private sector. But thanks for playing.

Eagle Keeper

That said, anyone here NOT familiar with the “Twenynine Palms Combat Arms Survey” from 1994?

http://jpfo.org/articles-assd/29palms-mcmanus.htm

“… administered to 300 active-duty Marines at the USMC’s Air-Ground Combat Center, Twenty-Nine Palms, California. Among its 46 questions, the Marines were asked if they would be willing to swear to a United Nations code of conduct and if they would fire on Americans who refused to turn over their privately owned weapons to the government. Other questions sought their approval or disapproval about their involvement in an assortment of operations far removed from proper military assignments, some of which would even place them under formal UN command.”

Ironic that, when this survey was administered almost 20 years ago by some Navy lieutenant commander (“major” to the rest of us) in pursuit of his master’s thesis, Col. Bob here was fresh out of boot camp. (Maybe.)

Wonder how many OTHER Col. Bobs there are who can be RELIED ON to go (try to) confiscate Americans’ guns?

Just An Old Dog

“(can we find out if he ever served in the Battalion?)” I doubt it. Up until today I had no idea that “Ranger School” Was not an indication that someone served in a Ranger Battalion. Apparently its just one of the steps in becoming a ranger, Any Army types in the know can correct me if I’m wrong but Ranger School is considered to be a leadership school for Company Grade Infantry types. About 3500 Soldiers attend the School Annually and it has from a 40 to 60% attrition rate. Bateman sounds like an asshole who has spent most of his time near the flagpole, smoking pole. If he ever did have a command I don’t think he was thought highly of ny his soldiers. Id like to see his full bio.

MK75 Gunner

@87 So would I. I’ve been reading the fb posts and he is about as ignorant and as arrogant as you could expect. Any Vet that disagrees with him he automatically denigrates their service. Told a retired SF guy he wasn’t impressed with him because his highest award was an MSM and according to him, Bateman, that made his opinion invalid. I’d like to know what this tool bag has for awards. Wanna bet he get an end of tour, I was an officer in the TOC, never set foot outside the wire, BSM? Maybe I’m wrong, but he talks waaaay too much shit about other vets.

Bubblehead Ray

Don’t worry Infantry, you have this dim wad and we Submariners have to admit Jimmy Carter was a Bubblehead. There’s one in every crowd.

Flagwaver

I’m curious. I’ve seen several people say that we will be safer if we are unarmed. I must ask, if you make it illegal for lawful citizens to own firearms, then what of those who do not follow the laws?

Would you really want to put yourself at the mercy of a person who doesn’t follow the law?

Idiots.

vietnam war protestor a.k.a. u.s.s. liberty

American patriot bateman is more likely to get in trouble with his gun nut superior officers then get promoted! Look how these enlightened officers have handled the problem of rape in the military until the congress and president obama ordered them to something about it or else(their careers!) President Obama should get all military officers to reads this blog and sack any of them who don’t think how did these people get to represent our country?

Hondo

vietnam war protestor: since you obviously haven’t figured it out by now and can’t buy a clue, I’ll enlighten you. No one here gives a sh!t about your opinion, or listens to anything you have to say.

Although I must admit that your comments provide excellent comic relief from time to time.

The Other Whitey

VWPoser, you’re a fucking idiot. I’ve showed some of your posts to some of the most left-of-Lenin liberals I know (some of whom are very nice people) and they agree that you’re a fucking idiot, likely the product of blood relatives fucking. Like Michael Moore and Joe Biden, you make the non-retarded liberals cringe every time you attempt to communicate with another human being, as your unhinged ranting causes irreparable damage to the credibility of every concept you support.

So please fuck off, eat shit, and otherwise slither back into your hole. You’re making me feel sorry for the other bolsheviks.

the Al

Seriously, VWP- they don’t spray the Windex on the windows of your little bus so you can lick it off.

MustangCryppie

Just goes to show that serving your country honorably does not inoculate you from being a dumbfuck.

Ex-PH2

Hold it! Step back, folks!

I truly never thought I would say this, but vwpissant actually has made a valid point with this statement: ‘American patriot bateman is more likely to get in trouble with his gun nut superior officers then get promoted!’

Take out the hyperbole (gun nut) and that is, unfortunately, a valid statement. (Disclaimer: not defending vwpissant)

Occasionally, even a drunk or a fool can make valid point.

The real question is this: if butthead bateman is still on active duty, one should ask why?

But to counter the anti-gun crowd, who are terrified of things they don’t understand, it might be more to the point to require that every American over the age of 10 years old go through a gun safety/weapons safety course once a year, get certified in gun safety by qualified NRA instructors like people who certify you for CCW requirements, but not require that they own, carry or use a gun of any kind.

Exposure to something you fear removes the fear. The analogy is this: I used to be afraid of spiders, but did a lot of info digging about them and am no longer afraid of them. I do NOT, however, want a Goliath tarantula as a pet, nor do I want spiders in my house.

Old Trooper

@54: You’re welcome and I will 🙂 I have been eyeballing a sidearm from the Ruger family…………heh, heh, heh.

As for non-VWP: Do you think that we will wait for a knock on the door if Obumbles sends down a decree to make it a 20 year prison sentence to have possession of any weapon deemed illegal, as you state? Ninja please. We would be rallying in the streets with our weapons, daring them to arrest anyone.

A Proud Infidel

FUCK bateman to death up the ass sideways with a broken wine bottle while he’s sitting and spinning on a pile of rusty, tangled, diarrhea-soaked concertina wire right after he’s been sadistically ass-raped by a Grizzly Bear with AIDS and the SOB that was mean enough to give it to him! It’s a pity he didn’t get deployed somewhere he could have been FRAGGED!!

rb325th

@86 you do the Gun Rights argument no service by citing that bull shit survey story. That story is in part urban legend and part truth.
The Survey which was given was done so by a Naval Officer who made it up himself with no official backing or support as a part of his work on his advanced degree at the Naval Postgrad School. It was NOT an OFFICIAL Survey; it was NOT given for the reasons the articles you linked to suggest at all. It was like any other college student writing up a survey/questionnaire as a part of a research project for College. No conspiracies, no gauging of what might the reaction be of such orders by the administration or any branch of the Government.
Also, apparently the majority of the Marines in that small group answered in such a way that it showed a complete breakdown would occur if any such orders were ever given.
Didn’t we just have a Topic of discussion on what spreading BS stories does to the truth? Just covers it up in shit that no one wants to dig through, even those who would agree with the Right to Bear Arms.

teddy996

I move that we call him Master Bateman.

NHSparky

Memo to LTC Bateman:

Molon Labe, fucker.

And to Vacuous Weeping Pussy, a little passage for you:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
? Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

The Russians have had a long history of being under the thumb of tyrants, be they the Tsars or the Politburo. We have no such history. In short, we’d come out shooting. And we’d win. One at a time. Sure, cities might be free of “legal” guns–and how’s that working out in Washington DC, NYC, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles? Here in Dogpatch, I guarantee the cops would NEVER even THINK of trying some shit like that. No way, no how.
