Cook Out customer, employee arrested after Florence County shooting, sheriff says

By WMBF News Staff
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Authorities arrested two people after an argument at a fast food restaurant in the Florence area turned violent.

Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye said deputies were called around 7:30 p.m. Sunday for a shooting on South Irby Street near Toledo Scale Road.

According to Joye, a customer, now identified as 24-year-old Daquan Markel Brown, went into the Cook Out with an AK-47 style rifle while an employee he knew was working.

The customer and the employee, identified as 17-year-old Eugene Travis McClease Jr., started arguing and then shooting at each other, Joye said. The sheriff added that the customer was shot, sending them to the hospital.

Deputies responded to two other shootings during the weekend, but none are connected, Joye said.

“This violence is unacceptable and must stop,” Sheriff TJ Joye said. “We are working with law enforcement partners to revoke the alcohol licenses from these nightclubs and will consider further action, requesting the Solicitor to have them declared public nuisances and closed. The protection of our citizens is our highest priority.”

Suspect in Brownsville officer-involved shooting identified

May 13, 2025 4:54 PM in News – LocalBy: Stefany Rosales Share:
The 25-year-old Brownsville man who was identified as the suspect in a Tuesday officer-involved shooting remains hospitalized, according to Brownsville Police Chief Felix Sauceda.

Alberto Pintor Jr. was identified as the suspect who was shot after allegedly shooting at a Texas Department of Public Safety unit during a police chase Tuesday morning.

According to a statement released by DPS, a DPS trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a blue Ford Explorer Tuesday at around 10 a.m. for a traffic violation on Linda Street and Willow Street.

The driver — now identified as Pintor — refused to stop and led the trooper on a police chase, where he shot at the DPS unit.

Several nearby schools went into lockdown due to the police chase and the shooting.

Law enforcement officers from DPS, the Brownsville Police Department and U.S. Border Patrol responded to the chase.

According to Brownsville police spokeswoman Abril Luna, Pintor’s vehicle came to a stop near Harding and 23rd streets, where Pintor fled on foot.

Pintor was spotted attempting to enter a residence on East 23rd Street armed with a handgun, DPS said, causing the responding officers to “discharge” their weapons toward Pintor, striking him.

Pintor was hospitalized, and no officers were injured in the shooting, DPS said.

Suspect shot and killed during Evansville break-in, two other suspects on the run

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Police are still looking for the two burglars who were apart of the deadly home invasion.

Authorities say the 911 call came in just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday at a home on Sweetser Avenue, near McConnell Avenue.

“2 of the subjects fled, one person is diseased inside the home,” said Evansville Police Public Information Officer Anthony Aussieker.

Authorities spent the day searching the area for the two suspects who are still on the loose. Numerous officers were aiding in the search, and a drone was also being used.

“We are a castle doctrine state, so you are allowed to use that kind of force to protect your home- but you know that’s part of the investigation to determine if that standard was met- so the investigation is still very brand new,” Aussieker said.

Officials at the scene say the homeowner was not hurt.

No word on what the person in the home was diseased with. Thanks, Gun Bunny.
