Kenneth Boyle sent us this DD214 last night and a mobilization letter;
The MOB letter means nothing, like those 2 mobilization devices on his reserve medal because we know he was mobilized, but never deployed. Here’s the email he sent, if you can decipher it in regards to my questions about the CIB;
i dont have a purple heart, never did, and thats what i have on last records when i left medical it was back in 1991 when they said I got CIB when detached with infantry unit, I always asked the same thing but they said it showed up in report at Fort Knox Ky. I am just trying to be honest here and show you the things I see, When getting back in my records have been screwed up. When getting back in me and the Recruiter had to go through a lot of crap, this is everything I have im standing here at a stand still. I tried to get records straightened out at Fort Knox and the lady working on them said your records are all screwed up and missing, so where do I go from here, Im asking for your help, I have no clue if Fort Knox couldn’t who next. The Purple Heart I know nothing about.

How you got them, that is another question but you know you were not awarded one because you never set foot in combat!! you are a lying sack of shit!

@16 and @17: Took a closer look at neuticle’s MOB letter, it’s about as fake as a three dollar bill…
Font is hosed, misspelled, and the way he wrote the dates are inconsistent, and not in any sort of proper format.
Regarding our “good friend” Kenneth Boyle’s “Mob orders” and DD214.
(1) The Army Reserve sends mobilization orders, not a letter.
(2) The orders have an order number near the upper left, below the letterhead. They have a date near the upper right, also below the letterhead.
(3) HQDA is not at St Louis, MO. That is HQ AR-PERSCOM or HQ, USAHRC, depending on the precise date that activity issued orders. If issued after 1 Oct 2003, they were issued by USAHRC. Prior to then, they were issued by AR-PERSCOM.
(4) Army Reserve active duty orders use the date format ## MMM YYYY, e.g., 03 APR 2007.
(5) Army Reserve active duty orders don’t have rows of asterisks (*) and tildes (~).
(6) Final DD214’s do not have the word “WORKSHEET” in blocks 21 and 22. However, worksheets given to the individual for validation prior to preparation of the final DD214 sometimes do. So would a photocopy of said worksheet document made but not turned in to the preparing shop.
(7) Final DD214s have the typed name and signature (pen or digital) of an authorized individual in Block 22. This purported DD214 has neither.
(7) Frankly, that purported DD214 looks all the world like a copy of a worksheet that the individual somehow acquired or retained, then later signed. But I could be wrong.

@20: The first thing that jumped out at me was the rank (SPC/E-4) and the MOS (21C10) for 23 years? Something doesn’t jibe there.
also, that 214, 23 years of service and only a Spc? I know it’s Guard/Reserve service and all, but still, that’s pretty fucking sad. Yes, I know there are some Guard units where you have to wait for someone to die/ets/retire before you can get promoted, but come on. Maybe reclass? there were guys in my reserve unit that jumped around in MOS 2-3 times over the years to get promoted. Maybe transfer to another unit for a year or two?

RE: The “Mobilization” letter.
Not that it needs to have any more holes shot in it, but did anybody catch the “uniform” requirements: “ACU-BDU-PT.”
Uh, I was on active duty for all of 2004(most of it deployed to Kuwait.)
IIRC The ACU wasn’t even revealed until about halfway through the year, and possibly not even until the new Fiscal year (I remember seeing pictures of it online and in the Army Times at the PX at Arifjan.) So orders to report to duty in August 2004 in “ACU” uniform should be pretty suspect (again, not that there aren’t a hundred other things wrong with those “mob” orders.)
Going to have to agree the 214 is completely bogus and what was sent to Jonn was a Draft Copy, not the official DD214 signed and delivered on Discharge. I am betting that slipped by the good folks at the Dept. of Motor vehicles though. Be nice to see the other half of that where the Signatire block is for the official presenting it.

Apart from his name, I can’t find anything… and I mean anything… that can even pass as legitimate. I love how he has to report to “SSG. Ellis.” I really love the wrong date and time formats, especially where he confuses the two and doesn’t get either right. This has to be a joke… right?
Martinjmpr: First time I ever saw the ACU was during a townhall open forum with a 2-star at Fort Eustis; he informed us that GO’s were recently just issued the ACU to show off the new uniform to the troops; this was in May 2005. I was not even aware there was a new ACU uniform in 2004…

That Mob letter is as fake as Boyles. Ask him where he typed it up at. It also makes me wonder about his award of the CIB. For you grunts, is it shown as the “combat infantryman badge” on your DD-214s or is it the “combat infantry badge”?
I knew that there was something off with the DD-214 (other than the 23 year SPC and the CIB). I have never seen a DD-214 with the block 13 in that position and that size, but it’s been a while since I’ve gotten a DD-214. The kicker was that someone noticed the “worksheet” in the signature blocks, which is probably why he wasn’t willing to show us the entire document.
I’m guessing that the fine folks at the WV DMV don’t really know the nuances of the DD-214 and took this piece of crap worksheet at face value when he got the CIB plates. Good, it looks like a nice case of fraud is building against my new favorite poser, SPC Boyle.

Not sure how relevant it is, but when I joined in 87 we were 12Cs. Sometime in the 2000s Big Army changed Engineers to 21 series. I was a 21B then. Some time after 07 they changed it back to 12 series. By then I was a Charlie again . I’ve been a 12C, 12B, 21B, 21C and back to 12C. It’s the circle of life. I will keep a closer eye on this POS now and I hope he goes deepin the tournament. I plan on voting like a dead Chicago resident.
If he went to Charlie AIT or OSUT 23 years ago it should be 12C not 21C.

@Hondo nice job. I was wondering about an Orders #. We were always told if there is no Order number you are not getting paid, go there and it will be on your own dime. I guess a SFC in the Army has never heard of Offical Letter Head. Where are all the other pages. Lines of Accounting, Base Pay Entry date. Meansd and Mode of transportation, and the “you are traveling on official orders and subject to the UCMJ”
I know the Army is sometimes F-ed Up but I know they have their shit together enough that it does not say report to Sergeant Joe Blow on a set of Orders.
