The fact that nobody straightened this jackwagon out tells me all I need to know about this “class” of people. No, it might not be illegal to “wear” them so long as you don’t claim to have earned them or try to get anything tangible from said claims, but it’s sure as hell more wrong than eight guys fucking nine guys.
I agree that this is not stolen valor per se, but he if is going to play dress-up, he should know way better than to wear genuine military medals and qual badges; there are toy and make-believe medals available from party/costume shops for this kind of gigs to go with his fantasy costume; real military medals have no place on this costume at all…
Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not suggesting it’s okay to dress up like this 4sshole. I’m saying this hardly rises to the level we typically see here.
He should not wear these medals, but if we are learning nothing else these days it should be apparent that as the contact with the military decreases, due to less than 1% of the population serving, it should not be difficult to understand that the 99% don’t know jack sh1t about the military and what is or is not offensive to veterans.
Since there is no requirement to serve it’s illogical to believe that those who don’t serve are in any way obligated to learn anything about the military. For those who know better, and/or those who commit a fraud using the ignorance of the general public I have no sympathy as my previous posts suggest. i am in favor of beating their 4sses and locking them up.
I just believe this is different, it just exposes the general ignorance prevalent in today’s civilian sector regarding the military and its’ customs. If we want that to change it has to be us who provide that knowledge to the public, getting all p1ssy and cranked up about a guy who was playing dress up at a party while collecting donations for service related charities doesn’t do much to express a point of view that will be taken seriously.
Perhaps a conversation with this guy in a polite manner might help him disseminate that point of view amongst his rich j4goff pals.

Just can’t seem to generate any concern over what some jetsetters and wannabe jetsetters consider appropriate party attire. Of course it is in very poor taste. So what else is new? They do all manner of things all day every day which are in very poor taste.

#39 I actually have to agree with you. I don’t really see where he is doing anything that should be concerning to us. The guy obviously has a passion for theme parties and he wants people to dress up as much as they can for them. If you read through the page of the link that is attached you will see that he made everyone dress up in period clothing for his medieval bash that he threw. And it looks like he threw a pretty awesome 4th of July party.
He never said he was anything in the Navy. He never claimed any medals or awards or anything like that. No stolen valor here in my opinion.
He is the son of a Holocaust survivor, he has a good education from a prestigious institution that I’m sure the Holocaust Survivors benefits paid for, he worked honorably at a banking firm for 20 years and then he pursued his dream of music (which isn’t too bad actually). I don’t see what the big fuss over this guy is. Maybe a little jealousy that we aren’t invited to his parties. If any of us were that rich I’m sure we would be throwing some bad ass parties as well with our rich friends.
I’m sorry but I just have to disagree with this guy being singled out here for just wanting to throw an authentic party… I would have been more concerned if he actually wore the uniform correctly and claimed to be something.
