I’m pretty sure that there aren’t too many Command Master Chiefs in the Navy who graduated from Annapolis and then went on to graduate from the Naval War College. Call me stupid, but I always thought that USNA was a commissioning source for Naval officers.
Here’s our hero. Looks like a real deal SEAL doesn’t he? You can tell from his hat that he’s the real thing.

Afternoon Syadia hot here. The Navy is paying for all our expenses while Erica and me are here. We are staying at the Bellagio hotel. Pretty swanky joint too. We made 6 practice jumps this morning. Did a HALO and LALO jump. HALO high altitude low open gotta use oxygen mask for this jump we’re so high up. Use this to avoid enemy radar. LALO low altitude low open. Did some trick moves also. I jumped first and let my chute open and Erica lands on my chute at 2 thousand feet at 1500 ft she runs across my chute and jumps off. We link up and hold hands and set off flares on our way to the ground.
Sounds pretty legit to me. Certainly explains why I would never qualify for those programs.

The claim is theoretically possible, but exceptionally improbable. Service Academy grads may refuse a commission; if they do, they end up serving on active duty in an enlisted capacity for a number of years. It’s also possible if he (1) graduated and served; (2) resigned; and (3) reentered service in an enlisted capacity and served a full career.
Here’s why it’s incredibly improbable. Since he’s claiming Class of 2000, that means he had to be no older than about 26 in 2000 (upper age limit for Service Academy admission is 22, and it’s a 4-year program). Even if he’s prior service, that means he could have had no more than about 4-5 years enlisted service before entering the USNA. That’s not a helluva lot of time to make CMC (16-17 years active duty max, since the 4 years at USNA isn’t credible as active duty service).
If one of our readers here is or knows a USNA grad, his claim of being a USNA grad should be easy enough to check out. The USNA Alumni Association has a “Alumni Lookup” feature on their main page. Unfortunately, one has to be a member to use it.

The USNA also publishes a Register of Graduates annually. Many grads have a copy. Since he claims Class of 2000, any copy from 2001 or later would work (in case he claims late graduation in 2000 for one reason or another).
But I don’t really think that’s necessary. His online resume lists his college as US Naval Academy, San Diego, CA. I’ve physically been to the Naval Academy. It’s in Annapolis, MD – and has been since 1845.
I’ll support Hondo’s statement, because I knew a guy, Dave Grossman, in the 1960s who got an appointment to Annapolis but could not handle the math requirements and finished his term as enlisted. Nice guy, too.

On a technical note there are only 3 Operational NSW Units: NSW Unit ONE Guam; NSW Unit TWO Stutgart (I was a support tech to this unit when it was in Machrihanish – back in the day); and NSW Unit THREE Bahrain (a good friend of mine is CMC as we speak). PI and PR shut down when the bases went away – God I miss PI and Rosie Roads!

Some further details regarding his posts on Fanbox posts that Brewins noted in comment 16. There, he’s hawking DVDs for the “Martial Art of Baguazhang”. In the post announcing them, he claims that he was “on the SEAL teams for 12 years” and that “The martial art of baguazhang is now what the Navy SEALs use in combat.” He also claims to have “12 hours of real-world experience in combat.” The post is dated May 20,2012; and I screen-captured a copy in case it later “disappears”.

I tried really hard to read some of his blog posts, but I made it halfway through one about his “fiancee” and had to stop because I couldn’t take the cliched bullshit any more. This guy is an eejit. A knuckle dragging, mouth breathing eejit, and Scubasteve is right: he might have gone to the Navel Academy but he sure as hell didn’t go to the Naval one.
Kornegger is also a bit out to lunch on his description of the Naval War College curriculum. It’s not “weapons math tactics”. Rather, per it’s current catalog the Naval War College confers a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies and satisfies the requirements for JPME Phase I. It’s curriculum concentrates on “Strategy and Policy”, “Joint Military Operations”, and “National Security Affairs”.

Old Trooper: he might not be quite that old. A beard adds a few years to one’s visual age – particularly for someone with black or dark brown hair – if it’s got some grey in it.
My brother-in-law retired from the USAF in his early 40s and grew a beard. He got rid of it after just a short while because it made him look about 10 years older than he actually was.
That said – he could in fact be as old as he seems in that photo, and thus too old for his story to be plausible.

For what it’s worth: does anyone know where this tool claims to live, or have a DOB? I’ve found one “Ken Kornegger” in CA, and it may be the same guy (and if so, I think I’ve got a full name). But I’d need to know a general location to correlate the two.
Once I’ve got enough good info, I’ll file a FOIA and we’ll just see if this guy did anything remotely resembling what he claims to have done.
From that pic above, he looks more like Steve Dallas of Bloom County after he ‘retired’…

Did you notice that he got married in Jan 2011 then again in June 2012? He graduated from the Naval Academy and the University of Memphis, both in 2000. He also has quite an interesting array of friends. Kind of reminds me of Ronny Mailman.

Hondo ….. if he is in Memphis area that is a good thing. Millington is just a short drive north of Memphis. Millington is home of US Navy Personnel Command, no shortage of Command Master Chiefs, Master Chiefs, SOs, SBs and the like to force this POS to the surface.
