At the intersection of CeLo & TSO
Kevin sent us this photo from last night’s “The Voice” of Ce-Lo green wearing a Good Conduct Medal and a Navy Aviation Warfare badge. I have nothing against Ce-Lo, I enjoy his music because it reminds me of the old Motown sound, and I loves me some Motown.
I just think this is funny because TSO is doing battle with his old unit over a Good Conduct Medal that he earned years ago. For the record, they initiated the paperwork, he didn’t go begging for the medal. But, I’m sure that if he had known that he could just pin the damn thing on like Ce-Lo, he could have avoided the headaches.
I hope Ce-Lo doesn’t get full of himself and think the wings can make him fly now. And TSO is already mad at me for something I did yesterday, so what’s wrong with a little more poking of the bear?
Some Ce-Lo below the jump (not explicit);

If CeeLO eared the Things Fine… If he didn’t he’s another POS “entertainer” That thinks what WE do or Did is Just Fluff.
Actually, the only fight was me telling them to PLEASE DON’T SEND IT AND WASTE THE POSTAGE.
However, I do like the humor of wearing a “good conduct medal” you didn’t earn, which honestly strikes me as humorous.
No way that fucker could even get his fat ass IN a cockpit, much less learn to run it.
Take that shit off, I don’t care how well you fucking sing.
Fuck him.
If you didn’t earn it, you shouldn’t be wearing it. He’s just another dirtbag looking for attention, regardless if he’s actually claiming to have earned it or just wearing it for show.
I concur, Ahem, “ONE TUBB TUBBY, TWO TUBBY TUBBY….”

BTW … he would not pass the flight physical.
I told my unit I didn’t want a typical formation to get my good cookie, so my gunny just handed it to me.
George Strait is singing, Brad Paisley is singing, Reba McIntire is singing, Gretchen Wilson is singing Rascal Flatts is singing, Lady Antebelum is singing. Hell Harry Conick Jr is singing!
Yo-Yo Green? POS!
OK, all of you who disagree with me; I want to see your DD214s right now. (Just keeping up with the apparent public perception, no, I’m not from New Jersey)
I saw this last night and my blood pressure raised. Those aren’t Air Warfare wings, but Naval Aviator wings. (Air Warfare are Silver) I tried to find an email address to send him an email but to no avail. I find it reprehensible that he would just don them with no respect towards what goes to earn either one of those.
@11: Ha!!! You’ve seen mine, however, I don’t think I count, because I’m not from New Jersey.
Seems like in the Army and National Guard, you get one of them Good Conduct medals just for staying out of trouble. I got my first one in Berlin..they told me:”You’re one of the few who hasn’t gotten an article 15, so here…”
Okay, Jonn–I’ll just have to run mine through the photocopier before I scan it, hope you don’t mind.
Your contact address work?
To be fair he most likely has no idea what he is wearing on his jacket. He never served in the military and hip hop fashion does have a lot of military themed references and influences. Lil Wayne in one of his songs qoutes “purple weed, purple drank, purple heart sergeant.” Has he ever been in the military…for god sakes no. He is making a reference that is easily understoond. When Cee Lo put on this jacket he wasn’t trying to say he won these awards, hell, he probaby just thought it was some fashion designers logo. Sometimes people are just ignorant and we should leave it at that. Plus he can sing pretty good…lol
@12- You are correct, I should have looked up the nomenclature.
Can’t show ya mine, Jonn – it’s classified. (smile)
Mines on it’s way as I type this. 😛
Hahaha, just sent mine as well!

@16- I’m sure that Ce-Lo is not claiming three years of undetected crime in the Army nor to be a Navy pilot. That doesn’t make it any less disrespectful. Rappers wearing Marine Dress Blue jackets also annoy me and calling them out on it is about my only recourse.
Aww, c’mon, first off, I’m pretty sure they have clothing people who dress the stars for the show. Secondly, as I stated on the Youserved FB page, I think those medals were probably thrown onto the jacket in recognition of Angie Johnson’s military service. I don’t think it was done maliciously, nor with intent to somehow fool anyone that he had served. I don’t know for sure he did that (or the staff who dressed him did that) because of Angie, but it’s a pretty good theory.
@20 Yeah I can see how it can be annoying but I don’t thinks its malicious in any sense. There is a difference in wearing them for ornamentation and wearing them knowing what they mean and falsely representing yourself as having earned them. The military is a part of our culture and we can’t stop it from being a part of fashion. Yes this is a little further than someone wearing some woodland camo shorts, but to me its not a big deal. Now if he starting say he earned those then it becomes a problem.
Also, your definition of a Good Conduct Medal cracked me up. Undetected crime is pretty much the life of a junior enlisted soldier I think.
@23 Exactly…the guy just put on the jacket cuz they told him too. I am sure if someone explained to him what those medals meant or that it might offend someone by wearing them he would take them off in a heartbeat.
@LL, there are better ways to honor someone’s service to their nation other than tacking a medal on their shirt and calling a day, no?
OK, you can stop sending me your DD214s now. It was a joke, people. Thanks for your demonstration of complete trust and I assure you, it’s not misplaced.
@LL, there are better ways to honor someone’s service to their nation other than tacking a medal on their shirt and calling a day, no?
Yep, and there are better things to do with one’s time than to get the vapors over some chubby singer wearing something that a probable wardrobe staff member handed him as he was walking out on stage.
I sent Angie a message on Facebook and asked if she knew why he was wearing them. I also wonder if she said something to him afterwards.
@28, I’ll remember that next time I see some chubby tubby walking on the street who saw his chubby singer “idol” doing it and thought it was ok. This is exactly why we have problems with douchebags defrauding the government…because we let one person after one person slide “because technically they aren’t harming anyone” and setting the precedent that as long others act like they aren’t doing anything wrong, they can do it too.
Carolyn, if she doesn’t cancel, we plan to ask her that during her appearance on the podcast tonight. I’m curious as to her answer also.
@30 I don’t think his intent was to defraud anyone. I very highly doubt after the show was over he went and filed for VA benefits. And I have seen plenty of shirts with stripes on them, medals, words like airborne and all of that. These people wearing them aren’t attempting to defraud anyone or claim military service, they are just wearing what is considered fashionable. And since the military is such a big part of our culture its ineveitable that at some point parts of it would leak into fashion.
gi_janearng, back in the 80s, I used to walk around base with COL wings on my trenchcoat. I had a few people stop me and ask me WTF I thought I was doing. See, there was this COL, COL Holland, who was the post commander of Vint Hill Farms Station in Warrenton, VA when I lived there. He was an amazing gentleman. He was also one of the Iranian Hostages detailed in the book 144 Days. When he retired (VHFS was his last duty station), he gave me those wings. He died a year or two later of cancer. I wore those to remember and honor him, his sacrifices, and his service. And I didn’t give a shit if someone got their panties in a wad over me wearing them as a 17 year old on my trench coat (when it was BEYOND obvious that I wasn’t a COL in the US Army).
And guess what….
The world did not end because I did it.
*Correction 444 Days.
@32, I never once said he was attempting to defraud anyone. Just because it’s fashionable doesn’t make it right.
@33, Just because you did it when you were younger, also doesn’t mean it’s right. And yes, I know the world is still spinning. My bets on the world ending are placed on other things we’ll save for another day. 😉

To be fair he most likely has no idea what he is wearing on his jacket.
Because if he did, and he had any fucking clue as to what it took to EARN those wings (or even something as simple as a GCM) he’d think twice before putting them on.
NHSparky … I agree. However, he is in the crosshairs now. Lets see what is said, by who, and when.
39- Shut the fuck up you histrionic bitch.
Well, well, well. What have we here? More poseurs who can’t back their shit up?
Pray tell, do YOU know what it takes to earn “wings of gold”?
41 – Word of the day. I had to look it up: histrionic –> overdramatic in reaction or behavior.
Another New Jersey troll. WTF is up with that state?
42 No. I also don’t know what goes into earning a Fields Medal and could give a fuck less if c-lo wore one of those either.
44 I’m from PA, shit for brains. Where are you from, the Cocksucker State?
Fields Medal – International Medal for Outstanding Discoveries in Mathematics
The bigger tradegy is that he picked Chessa over SSgt Angie Johnson. Angie is two orders of magnitude better than Chessa.
tragedy. I’m still shook up about it and it’s affected my spelling.

Why is Cee-Lo Green wearing a good conduct medal? … just completed the New
@44: It’s probably the same troll as always just deciding to use a different computer.
