“Seeking” – at DHS?

| April 24, 2026 | 19 Comments

Well, yesterday’s column was a little puzzling – how does someone go about getting clemency from the President, then turn around a few years later, get sentenced again for the same kind of crime, and get a full Presidential pardon? Thought that might inspire some salacious comments from some of you (“it ain’t who ya know, it’s who ya b…” sort of thing) – but nada. Today’s goes just a little further out there.

Julia Varvaro is a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism since last year, by all accounts. Or rather, was – sources report she has been placed on leave pending being investigated. For advertising for a “sugar daddy” to finance a lush lifestyle. Yep…

Varvaro, 29, was appointed to her DHS position in May 2025. The allegations came to light after a business executive identified only as “Robert B.” revealed that he spent between $30,000 and $40,000 on jewelry, vacations, and other luxury items during their three-month relationship.

According to Robert, he initially met Varvaro through Hinge, a dating app focused on long-term relationships. “She was attractive and I swiped right,” he told the Daily Mail.

He claims he  did not know she had a sugar-daddy seeking profile on Seeking.

As their relationship progressed, Robert described taking Varvaro on several trips to Italy, Aruba, San Diego, and South Carolina. However, the relationship soured when Varvaro allegedly disclosed past financial support from sugar daddies.

Robert said, “I did not want a sugar daddy/prostitution relationship,” and added that Varvaro “also told me directly that the $40,000 worth of jewelry on her wrists and ears are all trophies from her sugar daddies.”

Concerned about the security implications given Varvaro’s government role, Robert filed an official complaint with the DHS Office of Inspector General. He stated, “I believe that she’s under financial stress and that her actions pose a security risk.”  International Business Times

Seeker. Looker. Hooker. Book her.

She’s not committing a crime, but she should NOT have any security clearance. If she’s selling her ass for jewelry, then she’s willing to sell other things as well.

They can use whatever cute terms they like but the business of selling pussy for economic gain, whether outright selling or selling through marriage (think trophy wife), is still nothing more than selling pussy.

It’s entertaining that in these days of so many “strong, independent women” that there remains a not insignificant number of women who still believe what’s between their legs is worthy of tens of thousands of dollars of someone else’s wealth…and there are enough rich simps out there willing to spend that money on them to reinforce the truth of it apparently…

I have always enjoyed the company of women, no doubt about it. But I’ve never been so infatuated for a taste that I’ve dropped 30k on a short term relationship.

It’s amazing to me how many men throw away careers and relationships for some strange, and how many men will gladly spend their wealth on acquiring a bit more of that strange.

Regarding your other post and the lack of snarky comments… It would seem based on the way pardons work, and who gets them, that seemingly random acts of absurdity appear to be part and parcel of the process for all presidents. Thus nothing snarky comes to mind because it’s, sadly, nothing more than business as usual in D.C.

As an addenda, in what world does a 29 year old have the necessary time in grade and experience to serve in the role of deputy assistant secretary in any national security department?

Was there no one with 10-15 years of experience available to serve in that role?

Unless she’s some sort of savant and graduated college in her teens she most likely has 7 years or less of any sort of experience in this field….

I hire people with 7 years or less experience all the time, I just don’t let them run things as it never seems to be a benefit.

You wanna be assistant deputy secretary with seven years in the service? It’s not who ya know…. (See my profile on Seeker!) Winks eye.

Maybe, this girl was probably the youngest serving SES in Federal Government.

Bonafides:

Varvaro is a PhD, her LinkedIn profile notes. She researched on “analyzing broadcasting behaviors of lone-actor terrorists and active shooters radicalized by propaganda from an investigative psychology perspective.” Apart from the PhD, Varvaro received her Master’s degree from St John’s University as well. She finished her Bachelor of Science and had a major in business management from the same place. Before her DHS gig, Varvaro was an adjunct professor at St John’s. She also worked as a program analyst for FEMA, and a corporate security analyst for First Republic Bank.

Even with a lot of solid education I have to say that is a pretty steep climb for a 29 year old who spends a lot of time traveling around the world with her boyfriends. Not impossible, just seems unlikely.

Also “Robert B” is well known. Apparently he thought he was just so personable and good looking that as a over the hill 57 year old he could pull a 29 year old dime. Because a apparently as a wealthy contractor he had never heard of sugar daddy relationships, what a sheltered life he must live.

You might have missed some of the other examples of this, so, just to share, RADM Rothenhaus was replaced by a 33-year old DOGE staffer with a PhD in social policy at the Naval Research Lab last year:

And, while DHS seems to dispute and/or downplay this role now (second article), a 22-year old recent graduate whose work prior to being on the Trump campaign was at a grocery store is or at least was apparently leading the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3), a position formerly held by experienced types with connections, as you might imagine:

I’m all for giving go-getters a chance… but a modicum of direct experience with the nature of the job generally helps too.

Sadly I’m aware there are some young folks lacking practical experience holding key positions…I’m always curious as to the decision process that puts them there.

Was it a hack (read payoff) job for a donor’s kid or friend? Was it simple stupidity in the hiring process?
Or something more nefarious?

I hire ambitious young people all the time, or at least I did when running the business, but I never placed them near the top on day one…I had to see something that indicated ability along with education before we move people into senior positions…one would hope government would at least exercise a bit of similar caution when placing new hires.

A lot of kids these days can easily get their bachelors in under three years, especially if they went to a good high school, but even a mediocre one can make it happen.

When my eldest son graduated from high school he had 36 college credits that were fully transferable, same with the daughter. The youngest only had 21. The daughter earned her undergrad, dual major in physics and chemistry in 2.5 years, then picked up a masters in 1.5 years and is now in a doctoral physics program she started at 21. Eldest son picked up his engineering degree in under three years. Starting working and is slow rolling his ME.

Youngest son decided to run off and join the Army, no accounting for what those crazy kids will do. However, after six years serving in cyber with all the clearances and certs he will likely beat them to the bank. Of course now he says he wants to go to college but this old man thinks he wants to chase tail, bless him and have at it, you are only young once.

I don’t condone her actions in the least and agree she is a terrible security risk who should not serve in any govt position above janitor, if that.

On the other hand, old Robert isn’t a very bright bulb in his box if he didn’t understand the situation until after he had spent $30k to $40k in 3 MONTHS before “reading the room”. Freaking idiot there.

Mark L.

Her sugar daddy, “Robert,” was also able to fund her lifestyle because he’s a contractor for the government and makes ten of millions of dollars a year through those contracts.

You know guys, I’m starting to think that maybe Trump doesn’t really hire the best people after all.

Slow Joe

But at least we don’t have Biden’s minions stealing luggage, dropping cocaine in the White House, or having gay sex on the meeting table. How many Hatch Act violations?

SFC D

A whore by any other name…

Mark L.

This isn’t possible. Trump has never hired a woman only for her looks.

Slow Joe

I am sure I was hired for my looks more than once.
And the big, massive, huge, size of my heart probably helped too.
I could have made a living laying pipes. Too bad I listened to my recruiter. He lied to me.

Forest Bondurant

Her academic background doesn’t impress me.

She lacks the maturity and lacked experience to hold the position she was in.

Her alleged use of marijuana and Xanax raises serious questions about her reliability, trustworthiness, and ability to protect classified information.

Maintaining aliases and requesting credit cards in others’ names demonstrates questionable judgment, untrustworthiness, and behavior that causes a vulnerability to coercion or exploitation.

Her unexplained affluence and reliance on financial support from unvetted sources creates a severe risk of compromise, blackmail, or foreign influence. That’s all from Security Executive Agent Directive 4 (SEAD 4), so she violated those standards.

Possession and use of marijuana and unprescribed Xanax is a violation of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. § 844) because both drugs are Schedule I and Schedule IV, respectively.

Federal employees and clearance holders are prohibited from using marijuana, regardless of state laws.

Her potential omission of drug use or extensive foreign travel on an SF-86 security questionnaire form would be considered a false statement under 18 U.S.C. § 1001. If she concealed her drug use or the financial nature of her foreign travel during any background investigation (or re-investigation), she committed felonies.

Both she and Robert are morons.
