HOUSTON — An investigation is underway after police say a homeowner shot a suspect in an apparent home invasion early Sunday morning in northwest Houston.

It happened on Truman Street near the intersection of W Crosstimbers and Yale around 2 a.m.

Police say the suspect crashed his car, got out, jumped a fence and made his way to the home, where he reportedly smashed a window on the door to get inside.

“The homeowner was awake and alert and saw the suspect had illegally entered his home,” said Lt. Khan with the Houston Police Department. “He then produced a firearm from inside his house and ended up striking the suspect one time.”

The suspect was taken to an area hospital, where he is expected to survive.

HPD said the suspect and homeowner did not know each other.

The homeowner was not hurt in the incident.

Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

Crashed the car. Jumped a fence. Deliberately bypassed other houses to break into one particular house. Then shot for his hard work.

The back story on the shot perp would be interesting. Too bad we’ll never get to hear it.

The sad state of journalism. Read the title of the story, then read the quoted paragraph. Doesn’t the paragraph say he hit the perp with the gun instead of shooting him?
