Greenland and National Security

Trump knows good real estate — and he knows Greenland’s value to national security

Trump has lit a bonfire under Denmark and NATO to spur much-needed progress to counter Russia and China
By Rebecca Grant

“The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security. It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building,” President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday.

Trump is right. Grab a globe and look down from the North Pole, or check out this official Pentagon map. You will see that Greenland is pivotal to the Arctic front. Greenland’s eastern coast guards the Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom or GIUK. This is the entry gate to the Atlantic for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s nuclear-armed submarines. Greenland hosts important early warning radar sites because its field of view covers so much of the bomber and missile flight routes from Russia and China. No Greenland, no Golden Dome missile shield.

That’s why Trump lit a bonfire under Denmark and NATO to spur much-needed progress to counter aggressive moves by Russia and China.

Fox News

Trump is going to shore up the Northern flank for his Golden Dome missile shield and deny Russia and China access to strategic resources there, and he’s going to do it with the Europeans or without them.

The sooner they recognize this fact and cut a deal the better off all will be, and this is what Trump really wants. Instead they send forces to augment Denmark’s meager presence with their Operation Arctic Endurance exercise. This deployment is a response to Trump’s interest in acquiring Greenland

The intent is to strengthen military cooperation among European allies and support Denmark’s territorial integrity. How exactly 15 troops from France (no, really) will accomplish this is left unsaid. The 13 Germany sent can keep them company.

Maybe it’s a cost analysis venture of support?

No comment yet, have to warm up, 66 deg. in my enclosed porch, I’m in Florida WTF is going on. WX reported a slightly warm winter.

Docduracoat

42 degrees in Boynton Beach today.
How do the Greenlanders survive in these temperatures?

Odie

This Sunday morning is predicted to start at 9, colder in the outlying areas. I live smack dab in the middle of the outlying area they speak of. Oh, and windy too so as to get the full effect.

HT3

I think Pensacola got a foot of snow this time last year. Meanwhile on the Space Coast, my dog gave me a puzzled look as he walked on the frost this morning during our walk. Warming up into the 60’s this afternoon, but my wife has on long pants, sweatshirt, and under an electric blanket.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

60 degrees now at 11:47 in West Delray, 40+ degrees same as you this morning..

Twist

It went from -50 last week to 20 above today here. I’m thinking about firing up the grill after work today.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

60 right now and to girls walked by wearing shorts and tees, maybe joggers or snowbirds. When I lived up north in Long Beach Long Island NY, our Volly Fire crew used to have outside BBQ’s during the winter months and sometimes when it snowed..

UpNorth

Enjoy, it’s currently 17 degrees F here in West Michigan and snowing………..again!

As I noted before a military seizure of Greenland would result in a Trump impeachment and probable removal from office for violation of the constitution; so I don’t think that was ever a valid threat.

Getting more NATO support in the area is a good thing though. China is getting itchy with their new Navy toys. Like most things made in China it has a short expiration date.

Graybeard

IMHO, Trump is playing 7-D chess with no intention of forcefully taking Greenland.

He’s jerking NATO’s chains.

Now, if NATO’s members become Islamofacists, forceful may be in play. Wonder if the French & German troops would want to join the US Armed Forces?

Germany is toying with bringing back the wildly unpopular draft. They instituted a selective service system last year that includes a physical.

Phase II is to send 18 year olds to a voluntary boot camp and a short AIT for a total of six months service. There were many protests nationwide against this. Phase III is to restart the draft in 2027. Their population is aging like the rest of Europe and the children just aren’t signing up like they used to.

France is doing something similar but with a 10-11 month service plan.

Both nations are at a fraction of their end of Cold War end strength and are hoping to double the ranks within three years.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckg9drg8pg1o

I feel like we are in 1939 with the Ukraine standing in for Poland and then Russia and China standing in for Germany and Japan. Everyone knows the war is coming, nobody can stop it, and the League of Nations United Nations, is sitting there with their thumb up the ass letting it all happen.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal

Yep.
“Instead of me (PDJT47) threatening to seize Greenland, how about we sign treaties where the US can set up military bases, like we used to have during the Cold War? I would bigly appreciate that.”

rgr769

Uhh, there is nothing in the Constitution that prevents an administration from acquiring additional territory. Ever hear of the Louisiana Purchase, Alaska, California, New Mexico, Arizona, the Philippines, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or any of the U.S. territories?

Not a Lawyer

True that. However there is something in the Constitution about how the Senate requires a 2/3 majority vote to ratify treaties.

NATO is a Senate ratified treaty. If Trump were to violate it by say invading the territory of a NATO partner he will have unilaterally broken the treaty and can be subject to removal from office for violation of the Separation of Powers of the Constitution.

Surprisingly the last president who ran into headwinds with this Carter, who ended up backing down.

Given the popularity of NATO, the Republicans would probably throw him under the bus and toss him out.

Technically Trump is already in violation of Article I of the treaty for making threats of use of force against Canada and Denmark but Congress has been ignoring it, hoping it would stop.

The threats have also been implicit, not explicit. This gives him some weasel room. But any hard action, especially if it were opposed, would see him going out the door.

rgr769

Show me where Trump says he will invade and seize Greenland with the US military,

Not a Lawyer

You seemed to have not noticed or understood (?) I specifically wrote “implicit threat”. But the boundary here is razor thin at best. Many would consider it to be an explicit threat.

Trump stated that: “We are going to do something on Greenland whether they like it or not”. When asked by reporters if he would rule out using force to take the country he responded; “I’m not ruling anything out”.

So let’s use a car jacking analogy. You are sitting in your car and a large random, man with no authority and carrying a gun in his waist band walks up to the window and says; “I need your car, give it to me. We can do this the hard way or the easy way.”

I ask him if he will use force to take my car and he tells me he isn’t ruling it out.

You are saying you wouldn’t feel that is threat?

Because I have to tell you self defense shootings have been won on flimsier grounds than that.

Odie

Trump got our “allies” to increase their portion of their defense budget. When proposed 6+ years ago all we heard from them was they couldn’t afford it. Sounds like now they dug a little deeper into the couch cushions and found some money. They now appear to be more solvent. Wierd huh?

Not a Lawyer

Four years of war at your doorstep can do that. Most people in the US have no idea what is going on in Europe right now due to the media 100% focus on DJT and other minor issues like protests against Federal Agents enforcing the law. It is scaring people.

https://www.csis.org/analysis/russias-shadow-war-against-west

Russia is engaged in an aggressive campaign of subversion and sabotage against European and U.S. targets, which complement Russia’s brutal conventional war in Ukraine. The number of Russian attacks in Europe nearly tripled between 2023 and 2024, after quadrupling between 2022 and 2023. Russia’s military intelligence service, the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (or GRU), was likely responsible for many of these attacks, either directly by their own officers or indirectly through recruited agents. The GRU and other Russian intelligence agencies frequently recruited local assets to plan and execute sabotage and subversion missions. Other operations relied on Russia’s “shadow fleet,” commercial ships used to circumvent Western sanctions, for undersea attacks.

To wit:

https://notesfrompoland.com/2026/01/16/poland-charges-five-over-plot-to-send-explosive-courier-packages-on-behalf-of-russia/

In July 2024, three of the packages combusted: one at a DHL warehouse in Birmingham Airport, one in a DHL container at Leipzig Airport (where it was on its way to London), and one in a lorry while it was being transported on a Polish road. The fourth package “did not ignite for technical reasons”, say prosecutors.

The group also sent two “test shipments” from Warsaw to the United States and Canada “in order to check logistics channels and the time required for international shipment transportation, particularly by air”.

Don’t forget that not so long ago Russia was a partner to NATO against terrorism so now they have insider information

https://2001-2009.state.gov/p/eur/rls/rm/33912.html

timactual

I suspect that most, if not all, of this alleged  “aggressive campaign of subversion and sabotage against European and U.S. targets” has something to do with Europe and the US helping Ukraine kill Russian soldiers. There is a simple remedy for that; neutrality. Perhaps that is why their “database” of alleged Russian attacks starts in 2022.

What malarkey to suggest any of that is a foregone conclusion.

Commissar

Our treaty with Greenland allows us to set up whatever defense and strategic assets we need there.

We don’t need to annex it to take it.

The ONLY reason to annex it is to destroy the NATO alliance and to take the resources of Greenland.

It is disgusting that this blog is justifying Trump’s ambitions and amplifying his lies.

Danes served alongside us in Afghanistan for 20 years and had the perfect capita highest casualties rate of all NATO partners. They put their troops on difficult provinces like Helmand.

Trump is a traitor. He is comprised by Russia and his foreign policy is more aligned with Russian interests regarding Europe than US and our allies.

Trump even removed Russia as an adversary in his published defense strategy. And Trump called for regime change in in democratic countries including allies in Europe.

Wake the FUCK UP!!

Pet Hegseth had a Russian state email address when he was working as a pro-Russian talking head on Fox News.

It was exposed due to data leaks and the passwords of this email address matched the passwords on confirmed social media accounts.

It should have been a major scandal but the story was killed when it was “debunked” by a website called Global Fact Check Network. Even Snopes picked up the GFCN claim as a source debunking the story.

Except Global Fact Check Network is a Russian propaganda op.

https://rsf.org/en/russia-fact-checking-kremlins-latest-propaganda-tool

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Fact-Checking_Network

Hegseth is a Russian asset.

So is Elon Musk. He was caught having undisclosed meetings with Trump and sold USAID Starlink Systems with preinstalled Russian backdoors. Google it yourself.

And both Hegseth and Musk are working together to allow Grok to access classified networks.

Not a Lawyer

So is Elon Musk. He was caught having undisclosed meetings with Trump and sold USAID Starlink Systems with preinstalled Russian backdoors.

Google it yourself.

I did, and this is the result I got:

There is no evidence or credible reporting to support the claim that USAID sold Starlink systems with preinstalled Russian backdoors. This appears to be a false claim.

Key facts regarding USAID and Starlink in Ukraine:

USAID Oversight Gaps: A 2025 report by the USAID Office of Inspector General found that the agency did not fully monitor the location or use of over 5,000 Starlink terminals delivered to Ukraine in 2022 due to the urgent wartime conditions.

Terminals in Occupied Areas: The report indicated that nearly half of the active terminals ended up in territories that Russia fully or partially occupied, raising concerns about potential misuse by Russian forces after being captured or acquired through third parties.

No Direct Sales to Russia: Both SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and the company itself have categorically denied selling Starlink terminals or services to Russia.

Third-Party Acquisition by Russia: Russian forces have reportedly acquired Starlink terminals through “parallel import” systems involving intermediaries in neighboring countries and private sellers, not direct sales from SpaceX or USAID.

Hacking/Booby Traps: Reports indicate that Russian forces have attempted to hack Starlink-connected devices and have even booby-trapped captured terminals on drones to prevent Ukrainian intelligence from accessing them.

The issue identified by the inspector general was a lack of tracking and conditions of use by USAID after the terminals were transferred to the Ukrainian government, not the deliberate installation of Russian backdoors.

Thanks for the advice.

I just checked my name.

I was shocked to find I am also a Russian asset because there exists an Email account with @mail.ru extension with my first initial and last name as well. This is a calamity.

I will turn myself in at the nearest ANTIFA checkpoint immediately.

But before I do I want to know where all the money is that I sold out my country for? Did I do it for politics? Russian Pride? Was I the little kid that was always being picked on and had to get even with the world? Was I part of a Severance existentialist nightmare?

I may never have the answers to these questions. But thanks to you, I finally have questions.

Ah, due to your suggestion on the google thing (good idea BTW)

Pet Hegseth had a Russian state email address when he was working as a pro-Russian talking head on Fox News.

It was exposed due to data leaks and the passwords of this email address matched the passwords on confirmed social media accounts.

Came up with this:

The claim that Pete Hegseth had a Russian state email address while working as a Fox News host lacks conclusive evidence. The existence of an email address phegseth@mail.ru was an online rumor stemming from a data leak, but investigations suggest the account was either never active or was created later by a third party for the purpose of a “fact-checking” experiment.

Key Details

Rumor Origin: The rumor emerged from reports by the German magazine Der Spiegel and other outlets that the personal data of several U.S. national security officials, including Pete Hegseth, Mike Waltz, and Tulsi Gabbard, was found in publicly available commercial databases and data breaches.

The Mail.ru Address: An email address, phegseth@mail.ru (a Russian email provider owned by the technology company VK), was linked to Hegseth’s real Gmail address and a phone number found in the leaks.

Debunking the Claim:

An individual claimed to have registered the phegseth@mail.ru address himself at the time the rumor circulated, indicating it did not previously exist.

According to Mail.ru’s terms of service since 2011, a deleted email address cannot be re-registered with the same name. The fact that the address was successfully registered by a third party suggests it had never been used before.

Experts, including a Snopes investigator and a New York Times reporter, noted that the data leak database from which the address was sourced contained “junk data,” and attackers often combine real logins with popular domains (like mail.ru) without the mailboxes actually existing.

Plane loads of cash flown to Iran, US personnel abandoned in Libya, 4 years of a wide open Southern border, etc. etc. etc.,, and yet YOU claim that Trump is the one that is ruining the U.S. and by extension, the world.

Try and do better!!
