Miami Po-Po recovered three firearms at the scene, so there were plenty to go ’round.

HOUSTON — A suspect is dead after being shot by officers in north Houston Saturday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

According to Asst. Chief Menendez-Sierra, officers initially responded to a crash scene on the North Freeway, where two vehicles had been involved in an accident. When officers got there, they were told that a third vehicle, a green SUV, had cut them off, causing both to collide.

The driver of the green SUV reportedly fled the scene.

Because the crash resulted in only minor damage, officers asked the drivers to exit the freeway for safety and continue the investigation near Aldine Ninth Grade School.

A secondary police unit responded to assist and found a green SUV matching the description parked just one block south of the crash scene. Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with a man inside, who appeared to be intoxicated, according to Menendez-Sierra.

Menendez-Sierra said during the encounter, the suspect brandished a pistol while still seated in the vehicle.

“…..shot several times before he was pronounced dead…..”
That’s the idea. Don’t shoot him until YOU think he’s dead, shoot him until HE thinks he’s dead.

With a name like Menendez-Sierra, and his behavior, one has to wonder about his citizenship status. Did he have a green card to match his green SUV?

When I was but a wee lad (lo, too many decades ago) I had wanted a Colt revolver rifle, and wondered why there weren’t more of them, and why they weren’t more popular.
Then I read an article about the sparks between the cylinder and forcing cone gap being too close to the shooter’s face and eyes.
And that put a damper on that desire.

When I asked why revolver rifles are illegal in California, the response I got was they’re considered automatic weapons. I responded never mind. If true the maker of the law has never shot a revolver.

If there’s only one (1) story to be told to the popo…make sure it is your story that’s told.

Drunk and stupid is no way to go thru life, Mr. Menendez-Sierra. Oh…wait.

“…shall NOT be infringed.” Plain and simple.

Just had to post that click bait linky to keep The Gun Bunny occupied, didn’t you. DIDN’T YOU! You have my humble Thanks. It is cool to see the Colt’s Repeating Rifle show up in some of the Old School Westerns now and again. At least there’re generally within the proper time frame, historically speaking. I have fired an original a time or two. Best make sure you use a proper powder charge, cylinder lube to prevent a chain fire, and some eye protection for the inevitable “blow back”.

It may be helpful to remember that “some” of Houston’s crime seemed to increase about the same time that W flew the Mother Wheel from Katrina over New Orleans. Baton Rouge is even worse.

David

Some, hell, pretty much all went up. Too, Houston has its own criminal groups as well.

Graybeard

True.
Many of the New Orleans refuges had never been out of whatever neighborhood they were born in, and didn’t know how to act when they left and came into this general AO.
Some turned into good citizens, others have no clue what that means, and the (D)emon-rats were only too glad to add them to the voter registration lists.

For those wondering, in Houston news parlance “North Freeway” is Interstate 45 between Houston and Dallas/Ft Worth.
AKA one of the most deadly freeways in the USA. Lots of stupid wrecks all up and down that drive.
