HOUSTON — Police are investigating a deadly shooting early Tuesday morning in southwest Houston, where a car owner shot and killed a man he allegedly caught burglarizing his vehicle. The incident happened just before 5 a.m. on Beechnut, west of Beltway 8 West, in the Alief area.
According to Houston Police Department Det. Juan Diaz, the car owner was on his way to McDonald’s when he saw the suspect sitting in his front seat, apparently rummaging through the vehicle.
“The male responded somewhere along the lines of, if you are going to do it, just do it, and made a lunging motion,” Diaz said. “The vehicle owner at the time feared he was reaching for a weapon, discharged his firearm and struck the male in the car.”
Before firing, the car owner went back to his apartment to retrieve a firearm and then returned to confront the suspect, police said.
Investigators believe the suspect may have been trying to steal the car, not just burglarizing it.
“He was in the front seat apparently rummaging through the car. From the looks of it, it appears he may have been attempting to steal the vehicle,” Diaz said.

Oops. Wrong car.
The perp FAFO.
“McDees? Yeah. Cancel that app order. I’m not gonna be able to come and pick it up any time soon. Yer not gonna believe what just went down……”
I’m slightly worried that he went to “retrieve” the firearm. I’m worried about progressive prosecutor there in Houston will charge him because he didn’t just leave it to law enforcement and left the scene of immediate danger to get a weapon. IMHO the guy got what he deserved. Don’t rummage through crap that’s not yours.
Of COURSE Mr Mortensen was rattling car doors. He had to make a quicker getaway in something faster than his feet.
Was Home Boy on a “Rocky Mountain High”? He sure made a mess ‘a things. Next pic we’ll see of him will be in “Prison Bride Monthly”.
For future reference, dumbass…don’t take a lunge to a gunfight. Oh…wait. Tox is “lunge” in The Binder?
We’re slowly getting the perverts out of grubermint.
A Pepperbox can make a perp “well seasoned”.
That area of Houston used to be nice.
It’s not anymore. You need a full load-out with body armor to be considered semi-sane and live there.
