Donald Trump signs order to declassify JFK and MLK assassination files

| January 24, 2025 | 19 Comments

President Trump signed an executive order to declassify the assassination files for both former President John F. Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Trump initially was going to release the JFK files during his first term, but the CIA and FBI appealed the release. Back then, Trump agreed that the need to protect the material from potential harm to U.S. national security outweighed the public’s interest. With the recent executive order, these files will become known to the public.

From Fox News:

During his first administration, Trump had promised to release all the files related to John F. Kennedy, but an undisclosed amount of material remains under wraps more than six decades after Kennedy was killed Nov. 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas.

After appeals from the CIA and FBI, Trump blocked the release of hundreds of records. Trump said at the time the potential harm to U.S. national security, law enforcement or foreign affairs is “of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in immediate disclosure.”

Trump’s promise to also release outstanding documents related to King and former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy leaves questions as to how the president-elect will speed up the releases.

Under the Martin Luther King Jr. Records Collection Act, the remaining files pertaining to King are not due for release until 2027.

We’ll see what they actually choose to declassify. For some reason I see a whole lotta redacted black marks on paper or documents conveniently missing.

Hope I’m wrong. If it paints our intelligence community in a negative light (like that’d be hard to believe..) and shows them to be some seriously bad players — maybe it’s a catalyst for BIG changes.

When will they release the files about LBJ’s role in the assassination?

Meanwhile, the real villain underlying it all remains the CIA, NSA, DoJ and the usual alphabet degenerates.

The true villains are robotic vampire KGB-trained ninjas from Pluto.

Duh.

I’m guessing The Deep State will fight this tooth & nail, and then release a redacted file that looks like black sheets of paper. If the publics trust in the 3-letter agencies wasn’t lower than a rattle snakes’ belly, this will make it even worse.

That’s what I was saying above — unless Trump has those loyal to him oversee the release of said files and they get to them before the shady fucks in the alphabet agencies do. Otherwise it might be an ENRON style paper shredder party.

If they had a hand in it (which I believe they and LBJ did…) the public deserves to know and they deserve to lose their trust.

They have definitely hit rock bottom. Even many local police agencies really don’t want to work with the feds anymore and no longer respect them. They did it to themselves.

You know after they back your enemies with lies and try to murder you twice about things you “might” do, you may as well do them. Trump is showing he has zero fucks left to give about the intelligence community.

Trump has been saying “Deep State” for years, but that rhetoric seems to have increased significantly since 2020. Me thinks his rhetoric was based on what he knew, saw, or was told that let him acquiesce to the alphabet agency’s pleas.

I agree with the general consensus there will be a lot of blacked-out pages, which the lefties will use as an argument against Trump. “Trump dog-whistled his conspiracy-theorist followers, then failed to deliver anything of substance”.

I almost hope for this outcome because if Trump actually succeeds, if even just the portion (majority) that voted either for Trump or against the Dems, sees how we have been lied to, and what those lies were in service to, we’re in serious trouble. We’ll be preparing for another State funeral and getting used to saying President Vance earlier than expected.

Anyone else think what we are witnessing what future history books will call our second American Revolution? Wherein we attempt (hopefully succeed) to restore our Nation to the ideals of the Founding Fathers? Let’s hope and pray the only bloodletting is metaphorical.

I wonder how a certain 3 letter agency would feel if we all sent back to them a blacked out form they provided to us to fill out concerning how much money we made last year.

Would we suddenly have 80k+ new friends knocking on our doors telling us why they can do it but we can’t?

The “real” records can never be released. They were shredded a long time ago. Can’t release what no longer exists. No doubt that there were nefarious actions by nefarious actors. The “Deep State” has been around for way yonder longer than the recent history when the term began to be bandied about. I could give absolutely Zero (0) phuques (if I even had any phuques to give) in re of this. What I want to see is the Epstein Lists, the “J6” committee, SanFranNan’s stock tips, Bitcherly’s emails, The Artist formerly known as Hunter’s computer, Kongress Klown Kritter’s ability to become rich after a term or 2 info…. Need I go on. After I see all of this, I want to see perp walks, trials, convictions, then swift and sure public punishment for the guilty parties. About as much chance of all that as there is to see a parade of unicorns galloping past Fire Base Magnolia.

There’s a lot of concern about redactions being made; however, President Trump didn’t just order the release of the records, he DECLASSIFIED them. There is no reason or excuse for redacting unclassified information. Anything released with redactions should be challenged.

Now, as has been said, you can’t release what no longer exists… That’s a whole different issue.

Charles

Suppose part of the file in the Kennedy investigation is a report from “Jose Rodriguez-Rivera, then our 22 year old spy in the Cuban government” who provided answers on what — if anything — Fidel Castro had to do with Lee Harvey Oswald. And suppose Jose, now 83 years old, is still alive. He may or may not still be feeding us information from the Cuban government, but especially if he is still a source, things would not end well for him if his name and function were to be disclosed.

And redactions can also be made for non-national security reasons, even for something as simple as redacting Dates of Birth and Social Security Account Numbers (SSAN). Back in the olden days, our SSAN’s were stenciled on the side of our duffle bags, now they are closely held “PII” (Personally Identifiable Information).

Finally, a redaction might be made to avoid the disclosure of sensitive private information. Example: suppose a witness to the Officer Tibbets shooting was at the theater because she was AWOL from work and going to the movie with her married boyfriend, or lesbian lover. The disclosure of those details would, in my opinion, amount to an unwarranted invasion of privacy of the witness, while contributing nothing to the substance of their testimony.

So I believe there will be redactions, hopefully, well justified ones.

So when is he going to release the files on Elaine Ricci? America deserves answers.
