Fight between man, couple ends with deadly shooting in Rio Verde Foothills

RIO VERDE, AZ (AZFamily) — A man is dead after a fight ended with a shooting in the Rio Verde Foothills community near north Scottsdale late Monday night.It happened around 10 p.m. near 168th Street and Dixileta Drive, just north of Rio Verde Drive.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Kyle Kepler confronted 31-year-old Thomas Griffin and his wife.
It escalated, and Kepler pointed a gun at them, MCSO said, which is when Griffin shot and killed Kepler.
Homicide detectives are investigating and said Griffin and his wife are cooperating.
No arrests have been made.

2 charged with homicide after drug deal: Escambia County Sheriff’s Office

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man and woman after a drug deal ended with one person dead on Tuesday, July 2.According to an ECSO Facebook post, deputies were called to the 100 block of Swallowtail Lane for a report of shots fired.
When they arrived, deputies found 26-year-old De’Andre English with a gunshot wound, and he was later pronounced dead by EMS, according to officials.
The investigation revealed that English, 24-year-old Demetrius Caesar, and 22-year-old Meliyah Gordon had allegedly gone to meet Issac Mitchell to buy marijuana from him.

When the three people arrived, Mitchell got into the vehicle, and during the sale, English allegedly pulled a gun on Mitchell to try and rob him.
Officials said there was a fight over the gun, which led to English being shot and killed. Gordon and Caesar then fled the scene, according to the post.
Caesar and Gordon were later found and charged with felony murder — a death occurring during the commission of a felony.
At the time of the shooting, Caesar was on probation for a previous felony murder that happened in 2018, according to the post.
Mitchell was not charged because “he appears to have acted in self-defense while being robbed.”
Drug charges against Mitchell are pending.

‘Merica: Grocery Stores Selling Ammunition Out of Vending Machines in Alabama and Oklahoma

Some grocery stores in Alabama and Oklahoma now have American Rounds vending machines which allow customers to buy ammo for their guns while getting a cart full of groceries for their families.Cleveland.com reported on the vending machines, noting they are currently in six locations and “[use] artificial intelligence technology to verify a buyer’s identification and age through card scanning and facial recognition software.”
One of the locations is a Fresh Value store in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Terry Stanley, COO of the Fresh Value, said, “We’re always looking for ways to give our customers another reason to come visit our stores. Anything we can do to help them make their shopping trips easier, based on the feedback we’ve gotten from customers today, they are so excited about us having this ammo kiosk.”

Ammo vending machines… now there’s a concept! Why not stock ammunition in the local grocery stores, if you live in a gun-friendly state. Further, why not make it simple and foolproof, rather than having to train employees on what can be sold to who, and having high-shrinkage product on shelves normally devoted to food stuffs and household goods?
The powers that be at my store redesigned the ammo aisle months ago. Previously, it was one long length of double-side shelving, with pistol and shotgun ammo facing the gun counter and rimfire and rifle ammo on the other side. Ammo thefts were high, so they made kind of an ammo corral, but instead of putting a cash register there like they’d talked about, it’s still just open and has had minimal effect on thieves. We had to move the 5.7×28 ammo behind the counter; last year a couple was caught with nearly $5k worth of 5.7 and other ammunition hidden under their baby’s car seat. They left the store but didn’t get the ammo.
A good thing about my job is that I can grab whatever ammo I want before it even goes out on display. This is usually calibers we don’t routinely stock, like .30 Carbine and .32 ACP. I grabbed the last box of 30 Super Carry FMJs a couple of days ago when I picked up the Shield EZ, and yesterday we got in three boxes of Hornady JHPs, which are loaded in the mags now.

Most places that I’ve heard about that have a felony murder in their laws mandate a minimum of a 25 years to life provision or a mandatory life/no parole provision in their laws.
