Richard Cantner; phony Vietnam attack helicopter pilot

| July 12, 2016

Richard Cantner

Someone asked us to help him bust this fellow, Richard “Dick” Cantner from Vero Beach, Florida, who was busted on his lies 14 years ago, but he doesn’t want to go out without his lies. Here’s an article which corrected one of his lies when he claimed to have flown Apache helicopters in Afghanistan to the local media;

Cantner busted

You can see by the picture, which comes from his current Facebook profile, that he’s claiming that he was a Lieutenant Colonel with two Distinguished Flying Crosses, a couple of Bronze Star Medals, and several Purple Heart Medals, as well as a Combat Infantryman Badge, Jump Wings, and Master Aviator Wings. Here’s the bio that he emailed to someone;

Cantner Bio2

Here’s another article where he told of his harrowing tour of Vietnam;

The only thing that is true in all of that is that he has a Bronze Star Medal for Merit from his actual service in Vietnam as a Sergeant “Movement Specialist”.

Here’s an example from last year that folks still think he was a colonel;

Jimmy Wall’s Co-Pilot?

Claw

Yep, he sure is.

He was added to Low Left Ball Jimmy Wall’s UH-1 Huey Helicopter site four months ago.

He was added to the page by none other than Jimmy Walls himself.

Silentium Est Aureum

Shit sticks to itself.

Claw

Same deal as Jimmy Walls.

Automotive Repair Parts Clerk (76S) and Semi Trailer Load Planner/Dispatcher (71N).

Perry Gaskill

Claw, a search of Cantner’s in-country unit assignments turns up a hairball of logistics support organization. Best guess is he worked out of the warehouse area in Danang adjacent to China Beach.

Interesting trivia: According to at least one declassified document, one of the bigger problems Danang supply had at the time was getting replacement engines for forklifts. Go figure.

Claw

Yeah, Perry, I did that to. Tried to research the 384th QM and the 855th and 490th General Support Companies. What a quagmire of maybe, kinda, sorta, we don’t know whether we’re USARV or 1st LOG CMD.

But I do know one thing for sure. That Flight Class number he “thinks” he was in (69-27) couldn’t possibly have been his class as a commissioned officer.

Odd numbered classes (during that timeframe) were strictly for Warrant Officer Candidates (WOC) while even numbered classes were for a mixed bag of flight candidates.

TJ Fagan

He couldn’t even give me his Ranger School class number. I’ve been around a lot of Rangers, and I don’t recall anyone not being able to remember that.

I had asked him to provide a detailed history of his service with units, dates of assignments locations, class numbers, and his email back to me, which is part of my entire original post was just too rediculous!! Although it was beyond belief and cause for a lot of laughter, my anger has quieted my laughter. He has all his faculties so don’t believe for one minute his excuse of old age and a decaying memory. I saw someone here post he was using that for an excuse and I would be curious to see his responses so I could shoot them all down. If anyone sees any, please forward them to me. Friend me on FB if you want. I was trying to get noticed about when each comment gets posted, but all of a sudden there is 91 comments and I haven’t received any notice of them. Please don’t take that as a hit on this site!!! I love these guys for posting my post as they did, I just you folks to know I’m just seeing all these for the first time now. Thanks everyone, and please do what you can to spread the word and put pressure on the local media and newspapers to do a story on this poser. So far, no newspaper coverage.

I live in Vero and despise this kind of stuff. Will be glad to help.

Thanks! Please contact me.

I too live in Vero, what a loser. Hope Indian River State SBDC severs ties with this alpha hotel. I am ab Honorably dischared Marine.

I have access to the VHPA database and there is NO Cantner listed.
It is an amazingly good list made from more than a dozen other lists from back in the day.

Another booger-eating thumbsucking bedwetting twinkle-toed candyassed Sparkle Pony shits all over itself. Has this one screamed “lawer” yet?

sj

Went from CPT direct to MAJ? Wow. And Army Apaches to F14’s? Amazing.

And. Florida. Again.

Alberich

He says CPT direct to LTC, “and was able to skip MAJ.”

sj

My bad. I meant LTC. Tnx for the correction

Green Thumb

Who doesn’t?

Green Thumb

Its called “correspondence courses”.

Mick

Army Apaches in a Marine Air Group, too.

Super cool.

USMCMSgt (Ret)

Shush. That’s secret!

Mick

Oops!

Sorry, Top!

3E9

Army Apaches in a Reserve Navy Unit? Yep, this guy is the real deal.
Dipshit.

Greg Ruschman

Damndest thing that someone here should mention jumping from a VN era Cobra Duke to a Navy F-14. As a GI Bill student in ’bout ’72 or, maybe, ’73 I had a classmate who was a VN vet who was in school to get his undergrad and a direct commission to Navy Lt. Doug Loehner or Lohner or something like that. Seemed a genuine enough guy and spoke the MOS language. I lost contact with him after that semester (probably ’72) so I never found out what became of him.

Hondo

East coast of Florida? Hmm. Seems to be lots of tools along or near that coast who have “integrity issues” concerning their military careers.

Must be something in the water.

Ex-PH2

Saltwater creeping into the water table?

After all, Florida is just one gigantic sand dune sitting on a lot of sinkholes full of water.

Hondo

Bogatron/moron flux emission radiating NE from Fort Myers would be my guess.

Silentium Est Aureum

Did a tour in Vietnam, picked up a BSM, but nooooooooo, that ain’t good enough.

So basically shitbags gonna shitbag. Fuck you, Cantner. Hard and deep.

USMCMSgt (Ret)

And just one NDSM?

AskaMarine

Well, DICK can always convince PV9 Joe Gainey, the 1st SEAC, to go over DICK’s military record and try to get another NDSM to add on to his uniform which he seems to LOVE wearing in public. After all, PV9 Gainey’s gotta show his military bearing and set an example for subordinates and uphold the NCO Creed.

Sandman

I think a hand written history of his schools, and assignments should be sent to PERSCOM, to correct this hero’s records. He could stamp it with the Boy Scout insignia to prove it’s truthfulness.

sj

Nice CIB he’s wearing.

Green Thumb

And a marksmanship badge.

SFC D

Only 1 CIB? C’mon dude try harder!

CW3 TJ Fagan

Isn’t it though? I addressed that as well. That where his story of after his third time of getting shot down, the Army gave him the opportunity to leave the combat area. Instead, that’s when he went to be an infantry platoon leader for his last five months in country because “He’s that kind of guy”!!! That’s a quote in the short article “Lemmon Lines” a small local publication. That’s also a page in my original post.

Combat Historian

From an actual retired O-5 to the phony piece of shit posing as one: GO FUCK YOURSELF !!!

Alemaster

LTC CH, if I may add to your so eloquent statement: “from an actual retired gunship pilot to the phony POS posing as one-FOAD.” Thanks Colonel, I feel much better now. regards, Alemaster

2/17 Air Cav

Why this clown wasn’t prosecuted in 2002 or so is beyond me. I’m not talking about SV. I’m talking about the phony orders which he admitted to and that curious but unexplained entry in a gov’t database that listed him as a colonel. That’s the obvious stuff. What else there might have been is anyone’s guess. As for the SV, that’s a separate matter for which this dirtbag deserves all that can be thrown at him in this and other public venues. The POS claimed in the newspaper article that he lied about service in Afghanistan because the surge in patriotism that followed the Sept 11th attacks was waning. I’m sure his bullshit worked and prompted many enlistments. Or not. What an asshole. The fucker is 70. not 107, and appears now to be pretending that his age has marred his memory. Still, he has wonderful recall of doing things he never did, earning things he never earned, and conveniently overlooking that each time he sees his reflection in glass or mirror, he is looking at a first-class shitbag.

Green Thumb

Yeah.

The “I cannot remember” strategy.

Kat

Why is it only BS is clear, actual dates actual time frames are always so hazy? Selective memory or a slip of the Selecta typewriter to blame?

Ex-PH2

Yes, that age-related senile dementia that creeps in when you’re cornered is freaky, isn’t it?

Hondo

In the bottom picture, this tool is wearing a Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) “polo” shirt. The associated article indicates he works at their Indian River State College office in Vero Beach.

I wonder if they have any idea that they have a liar working for them who’s getting erroneous local publicity at one of their offices?

A link for the Florida SBDC webpage follows. It appears to contain the Florida HQs mailing address, phone number, and an email address – along with a number of other “contact us” options.

http://floridasbdc.org/

They might be interested in hearing about this guy.

Retired Grunt

He should know better. Unwritten rule #1, army officer’s do not where weapons qualification badges. (BTW, I learned that when I wore mine at an ROTC function) I wish I could have skipped O4 but my leg infantry butt was too dumb I guess.

HoneyBadger

That CIB placement was the first thing I noticed

Green Thumb

I read the letter he wrote up top. This dude is delusional and has been doing this a long time.

A serial poser.

His story is one of the best (or worse) I have ever read. To put it another way, this maggot is a straight up Phildo.

I can only imagine All-Points Logistics has reached out to interview this turd and bring him into the fold. Definitely senior staff material. The “less-than-honorable” COL W better watch out! He might have some competition.

And Florida, no less.

He also does not look happy in that last picture. I wonder if that was hen he was busted?

At that Army History link he says that “I flew an AH1D Cobra in 1969-70 from the DaNang Air Base”.

No such thing as an “AH1D” Cobra. Not then, not now.

TJ Fagan

I called him out on that as well. Oh, that was an obvious typo. Not in my eyes, he is very sharp when generating correspondence in past documents. If he wrote it, then he meant it.

He also wrote in an application for Commission Board in Vero Beach, Florida Appointment (pages 8-10) that he was a Pilot in the US Army Aviation. He signed the document (page 10) that “everything I have stated on this documentation is true. I realize that false or dishonest answers to any questions may be caused for immediate removal.”

Am trying a new site on above comment since it seems that site does not work:

http://covb.org/vertical/Sites/%7B898790A2-F88A-48AE-A9B3-666AAE67AD40%7D/uploads/6-A(2).pdf

He signed the document in August 2011.

It also looks as if he was accepted and is the Vice Chairman of the Airport Commission (see my comments above).

http://www.covb.org/boards_and_commissions

TJ Fagan

I had gotten with the Airport Directer, a real Annapolis man and a real retired Navy Captain. I met with and others involved. They confronted him last Monday, and although not admitting any wrong doing, he resigned. If he didn’t, they were going to release him anyway. His response to me after a previous text I sent to him was:

What can I say? Some of what you say is true. I have been with clients since 8AM and not able to respond to you. Yes, I had 2 different classifications. Yes, I held a SGT E-5 status as active and a reserve commission in the background. I understand your hurt and feelings at this point. I appreciate all you have done for me and I have tried to reciprocate. There is nothing that I can say and will not to change anything. Not sure exactly how this came to light and who started it?
Bottom line, I have resigned from the Airport Commission Board and MOAA as it it not in the best interests of the greater good.
Thanks for all you have done and I apologize to you and all involved. I have never used any of this for any financial gain and never intended to.
Dick

My response was what the heck wasn’t I correct on? Of course no response to that direct question.

AnotherPat

See my above comments.

He also was nominated and appointed in 2015 to be the Vice Chairman of the Airport Commission (the same application he filled out with bogus information in 2011). The two PDF documents I provided do not seem to work now, even though they show up on GOOGLE Search.

Here is his nomination and appointment(page 2):

https://verobeachfl.govoffice2.com/vertical/Sites/%7B898790A2-F88A-48AE-A9B3-666AAE67AD40%7D/uploads/052815ag.pdf

Mick

So this assclown claims to have been an Army AH-64 attack helicopter pilot assigned to MAG-49, eh?

Absolute bullshit.

Marine Air Group 49 (MAG-49) is a Marine Corps Reserve Air Group in 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. No Army aviators, and no AH-64s, either.

I really hate this Stolen Valor crap.

AnotherPat

Sorry for piece mealing this information.

Found a better source for the 2011 application he signed and attested his information was true (claiming US Army Aviation Pilot) for Appointment to the Airport Commission (pages 5-7)

And last, on page A7 of his hometown newspaper in Florida, he is shown wearing US Army uniform and identified as a US Army LTC:

http://ufdc.ufl.edu/UF00081233/00103/7j

http://ufdc.ufl.edu/UF00081233/00103 (in case the above does not work. The article and picture are on Page A7).

sj

In that screed he said he was in the 101st yet in that picture he is wearing a USARV combat patch. I was in the 101st (and 82nd) then and damn sure didn’t wear a USARV patch. And, he sure likes to wear that uniform a lot it seems.

Claw

Heck, sj, he’s even lying about that.

That’s the MACV patch and not the USARV or 1st LOG CMD patch that he should be wearing. I guess a MACV patch made him a little more “combat believable”.

About the only thing he got right was that the 855th and 490th General Support Companies were in Da Nang.

And don’t even get me started on the lack of Air Medals in his ribbon rack. He jumped straight to DFC’s (just like he skipped Major) on his way to a Senior Aviator’s Badge.

Yep, nothing better than wearing a full dress uniform when it comes to unloading care packages.

Claw

And what’s even funnier is that he used the Company/Battalion numbers from his Basic Training outfit at Fort Dix to try and fit them into a 101st Airborne Aviation unit in Vietnam.

That’s some real dumbass crap there. Almost Bernathian in nature.

TJ Fagan

Yes Sir, I noticed that as well once I received that document from the archives. I though he was idiot as well and it didn’t seem in character as you can go to the VHPA website and look up all the Army aviation units that were assigned in Vietnam. I then realized he probably didn’t want to list an actual unit because all the Nam guys would be able to say: “Hey, I was there during that same time and there was no Cantner there!!!” One of favorites in this story is the article “Lemmon Lines” where he claims to have been allowed to take an admin position after having been shot down for the third time, but he opted instead to go be an infantry platoon leader for the last FIVE MONTHSof his tour!!! REALLY?? DID HE REALLY SAY THAT??? Good Lord!! Could you imagine that poor infantry platoon seeing their new LT?? Can you say frag???? I guess that’s how he “EARNED” his CIB!!

TJ Fagan

Yes Sir! The Air Medal was what many folks noticed first.

3/17 Air Cav

The two page narrative he presents is one big trip down bullshit lane! He claims a four year degree in engineering. I’d wager that’s bullshit too.

Nice touch with the CIB. It’s real common to see pilots sporting it. Back in the day I saw it all the time! Not

Stupid old coot has been living the lie for decades, why change now

TJ Fagan

I called him out on his engineering degree also. I called Wilkes University and they said he graduated in 1968 with a degree in Commerce & Finance, NOT Commerce and Engineering!! He told me in the past he earned a Master’s in Engineering from Wilkes. The registrar’s office denied that claim. If he does have a Master’s in engineering, it’s from a separate university and I can’t find it. His I love me walls only have the Wilkes University BS certificate.

Green Thumb

This turd has a Masters in Ass Drilling.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

USMCMSgt (Ret)

Turned down not ONE, but TWO service academies? Because of eyesight? Condensed training programs? Skipped the rank of Major because the Army gave him credit? Fuck this guy!

2/17 Air Cav

Makes sense that he was rejected due to poor eyesight and so he became a pilot.

2/17 Air Cav

Wait!

J.R. Johnson

He may have applied to both Service Academies (and was turned down)!
How about the part of joining the 75th Ranger Regiment after Ranger School. If he was an officer he might have gone to a “Ranger School”, and there were Ranger Units active in Vietnam but the 75th Regiment was formed just before Panama in the 1980s (1st and 2nd BNs had been independent for a few years before that).

Thanks everyone, and please do what you can to spread the word and put pressure on the local media and newspapers to do a story on this poser. So far, no newspaper coverage.

TJ Fagan

I did submit a “Tab Check” with the RTB and told them he claimed he was assigned to the 75th Ranger Battalion! I knew that would get them fired up. I also asked if they could also verify if he ever graduated from Airborne, I already know the answer, but I’m hoping to receive an official document addressing all three inquiries. I received an email from the 1st Sgt and he said they are looking in to it! I also sent them them my entire post with all the accompanying documents.

TJ Fagan

Semper-Fi Sir! Yes, but by his own admission, he still goes to college, then supposedly goes through ROTC, and heads to flight school anyway! “How that can be paw?”

AnotherPat

Well, I thought this was my last comment…and once again, I am wrong.

Speaking of the Army Museum, which he claims he as a Founding Sponsor in 1982, I thought the Founding Sponsors came at a later date.

Additionally, please go to this Registry Site and type in his name:

https://armyhistory.org/the-registry-of-the-american-soldier/

Once again, he lists his Rank as a LTC who “Joined the Army through ROTC, then served in Vietnam as a Helicopter Pilot.”

TJ Fagan

I’ve tried to hit up the link to the registry, but when I type in his name, I get a “No records founds!” Oh no, “they” lost his records again! I wonder if it got pulled after this free positive publicity. I know another company here in Florida that pulled a video down of the “Colonel” once they found out about his faking his military records. It was a good video. All dressed in his Class-A’s and his self awarded medals and badges.

MrBill

Found the “Mo Rucker” FB page containing even more information, including newspaper articles confirming his enlisted service in Vietnam, his promotion to SP5, etc.

https://www.facebook.com/MoRuckr/posts/636408786512328

Hondo

That’s gonna leave a mark . . . .

sj

Ouch. That’s more brutal than most outings here on TAH.

Hondo

Yep. Especially if someone sends the info to the Vero Beach Airport Commission/city government/County Attorney’s offices and/or the FL SBDC headquarters.

Green Thumb

And Vero Beach is a very affluent area.

I imagine that this turd’s “reputation” will take a major hit and he will, shall we say, be dropped from many “Christmas parties” lists.

I would hate to be his wife.

TJ Fagan

He’s not married. I suspect that’s what could have led to the divorce and eventual arrival here in Vero. I could have started fresh and had the respect of the community. But no, not him. He has to start it all again a second time. Then he gets called out by a real retired Warrant and the “Colonel” ignores him! When I heard that and when he still challenged my findings and claimed to still be a Snake driver, “I let the dogs out.”

Claw

Yes, Chief, I saw that on his FB page that he was single.

But, no sweat, there’s been a few ladies featured here on TAH that he can hook up with that are helicopter gals.

They are:

Robin Anthony Rogers – MAJ with a DFC.
Bridget Marshall – Apache pilot with crazy eyes.
Chelle Lynne Anderson-Tesla – CPT and a Blackhawk pilot.

All good choices who would fit right in with his lies.

TJ Fagan

It’s already been done folks and I’m happy to report he has officially “resigned” from that position.

Hondo

Good. But I have to ask: the Vero Beach Airport Commission position, the FL SBDC position – or both?

TJ Fagan

Just the Airport Board position. He is still at the Indian River State College SBDC as of this afternoon. Please feel free to inundate them with postings of links to the info and requests for him to get the boot. A person that lies like that has no business being in a position to mentor others! Thanks.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Someone busted it off in DICK’s ASS!

Eden

He’s hitting all of the poser how-to’s. Wonder how long before he lawers up?

timactual

Hmmmm. No air medal? There’s something fishy here.

Dustoff

Biggest red flag about this BS to me. Aircrews in combat collect laundry bags full of Air Medals. How does this asswipe bag a DFC , but no Air Medals…. I know, some one in S-1 effed up.

TJ Fagan

No Sir, he wears TWO DFC’s! I did contact the DFC Society and spoke with their President. He was pissed! So in the packet, there’s a letter from him as well!????

AskaMarine

He’s also lying to his Classmates at his High School, Hazleton, PA (Class of 1964). Has the same bogus Military photo posted on Classmates.com.

Doubt he got a Commission to 2LT at Wilkes University in PA since his FOIA records speak otherwise.

Definitely a dude who has a major Personality Disorder (Pathological Liar, Narcissism) as well as blaming his Ex-Wife.

Claw

Looks like it’s time for the 1st SEAC to step up to the plate again.

Hey, Fighting Joe PV9 Gainey. Got another hot one here that needs help. Get to it.

AskaMarine

??????

He should fly to TX with Lowleft Balls and Bucklew as pilots and Forging Frank as their Door Gunner so they can all swap War Stories with Killer Killam.

And have AWOL, 1st SEAC PV9 Gainey do a story on them.

And ask Richard Hollingworth to join them.

TJ Fagan

Yes sir. I understand there was a question about Army ROTC at Wilkes at that time also.

Tallywhagger

Haha, well, at least he never actually took off with empty fuel tanks or pretended to be an attorney.

Hell, as it were, he seems to be ‘fess’n up to his falsehoods, even if not exactly of his own veracity.

Ex-PH2

What’s with the sudden influx?

A – Attention whoring.

B – It was a dangerous job that required certifiable skills, but there must be some sort of ‘glamour’ attached to it, e.g., ‘yeah, I survived all those shots Charlie took at my chopper/Huey/Jolly Green, etc., and Charlie tried to hit it right in the carburetor but I made a spinout landing. But all them soldiers/Girines I was carrying died in the crash.’ Words to that effect.

C – I went to high school with a REAL rotary wing pilot who went to Vietnam as enlisted and got HIS Warrant while he was there. I know he was there, because my mother sent me a newspaper clipping from the local rag with his photo on it, wearing his insignia and stating his rank, DURING the Vietnam War.

D – Weak effing egos.

Green Thumb

All you have to do with this old turd is wipe your shoe and keep moving.

Claw

I think the sudden influx comes from a lack of good cookies./sarc

This Dick and Jimmy Low Ball Walls are the exact same-same.

They each did a full three years on active duty, served in Vietnam as repair parts supply guys, upon discharge no Army Good Conduct Medals to be seen.

So Yeah, I blame their lies on the lack of a good cookie./sarc again.

Ex-PH2

The lack of good cookies is probably because unlike now, when someone with 3 years gets the pat on the shoulder or butt and the GCM, back then you had to have 4 (FOUR) continuous years of AD. So even though I have 5 yrs 6 mos + XX days of AD, they were split between before college and after college.

It is just SO-O-O unfair.

Claw

For the Navy maybe, but not for the Army.

You can get an Army GCM for less than a year’s service.

TJ Fagan

I earned my Army GCM after the year at flight school. The Corps took me a bit longer. I was a Marine infantry sergeant before going to the Army flight program.

A Proud infidel®™

“(I can’t improve on the likes of Proud Infidel™ or Hondo),…”

TJ Fagan

All great points Sir, and I drew most of those same conclusions. I also knew more about the F-14 than he did. Here are a couple of more entertaining stories. 1. He had dropped a salt shaker one day. Being “both” graduates of Airborne school, I asked him which PLF did the shaker perform?” He asked: “What?” I asked again: “Which PLF did the SALT SHAKER perform?” He asked what’s a PLF??? I asked him: ” Are you sure you graduated from Airborne? He said: “You know I am!” To myself I said: “BULLSHIT!” 2. I flew snakes out of flight school. I had seen some G models in Nam that had a rocket pod set up that were just 7 individual tubes strapped together instead if the traditional beer can type pods. I’m guessing it was just the early version, but it almost looked like they were slightly larger. So, Dick was a self proclaimed Cobra pilot so I asked him about it. He didn’t know what I was talking about so I could a picture and showed him and asked: “What’s the story with that?” He said that was just where armament was placed! Ok, so WHAT armament is in those POD’s?” He said they used what used! “You know, “HELLFIRES” and “TAU’s”!!! He thought TOW was pronounced TAU”!! WTF Colonel!! That’s when I realized he wasn’t a Snake driver! 3. The story about his 64 transition when they called him back to active duty at 55 because “If not me, then who?” I had asked him how he liked the bag? Every poor bastard that went through the 64 transition at Rucker knew what was meant when someone referred to the “bag”. Basically, you sit in the rear cockpit and they have black out curtains that prohibits you from seeing outside via the windscreen/canopy. It forces you to become confident and proficient with the various optical systems. Basically, many of us would get nauseated and headaches. The bag sucked for me. Anyway, once again, he was clueless about the bag. I asked him if he really went… Read more »

Someone who goes by the first name of Spike is sure to do the right thing when it comes to exposing a LSOS such as Tricky Dick.

TJ Fagan

I love it! There it is again: A fighter pilot!!!

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Should contact the admins at TWS and let them know about DICK’s Stolen Valor issues…

MrBill

Here’s Cantner participating in his fraud while honoring two of his high school classmates who died in the war –

MrBill

And I just noticed – “LTC” Cantner left a comment on the story!

TJ Fagan

Where?????

MrBill

His comment on one of those classmates –

AskaMarine

Once again, another Narcisstic, Look at ME Individual who consistently uses “I”, as in “I did this…or I did that” or “I am this” or “I was that” instead of focusing on our Fallen Veterans instead of themselves.

HT3 '83-'87

First time posting, but a reader going on a year.
This guy has to get in his lies on where others commemorate a fallen hero…something has to be done to remove this stain from a place of honor.

What an idiot…
“I arrived in country in July, 1969. As an AH-1D Cobra pilot, I was shot down 3 times between then and 1070. Not sure why my name is not on OUR wall, along with the current 58, 307 brave men and a few women nurses.”

You had to be KIA or still MIA to be on The Wall, right? No posers…just heroes!

Mick

“As an AH-1D Cobra pilot…”

There’s never been an “AH-1D” series of the AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter. Never.

Not then, not now.

Ex-PH2

Yes, you do have to have died over there, or be missing/remains recovered/confirmed dead in order to be included on the Wall.

He is truly a prime example of the attention whore at its lowest level, if he thinks he should be included on a memorial to the dead.

I have a friend who was KIA in Operation Prairie Fire.

This guy pisses me off no end.

Give him Hell for it. Please.

TJ Fagan

I’m trying but always need help. Please send emails to the link provided earlier to the Florida State office of the SBDC and the branch office at Indian River State College at the Mueller Campus in Vero Beach, Florida. You can also contact the Vero Beach Press Journal newspaper and ask why they haven’t done a story yet!! Tnx

Claw

HE was trying to bring emphasis on the point that HE was shot down three times and only through the grace of God was HE still alive.

But being the attention whore that HE is, he turned the comment into being all about HIM and what happened to HIM instead of simply saluting his classmate and saying Rest In Peace.

TJ

I was wanting to know where Specialist Cantner wrote that comment about how his name should be on the wall? Did he actually write that somewhere? If so, PLEASE, PLEASE TELL ME WHERE!! Thanks!!

Claw

Chief, it was there on that Wall-of-Faces page. I read it myself.

He has since deleted it.

I also see where he is no longer a Group Member over at the Jimmy Walls UH-1 Huey page.

Small steps.

Claw

Oops, sorry Chief. Bad info on Tricky Dick being dropped from the UH-1 page.

He’s still there, I just wasn’t able to find him when I went looking for him the first time.

Silentium Est Aureum

Two years as a Tomcat pilot?

I’m not even an airedale, but even I have to throw the bullshit flag on that one.

Mick

His entire story is complete bullshit.

Two years wouldn’t have been enough time for him to complete the Naval Air Training Command flight training syllabus to get his Naval Aviator wings (which includes carrier qualification in the T-45 before getting wings), and then go on to complete the F-14 Fleet Replacement Squadron syllabus (which also includes carrier qualification) to become basically qualified in the F-14. And all of that would have had to happen before he ever got to a fleet squadron. You don’t just show up at a Navy VF squadron and they just “hand you the keys” to one of their F-14s. Doesn’t work that way.

He would also have been too old to have done any of what he claims regarding the F-14. They don’t put guys in their 50s through transition/conversion training for ANY type/model/series of aircraft, regardless of what phony combat exploits they may have hallucinated about in the past.

2/17 Air Cav

Damn, Fagan. You’re a bulldog. Nice work.

TJ Fagan

Thank you Sir! A Marine infantry sergeant and CW3 Army pilot, Airborne, Air Assault, SERE Level-C. I’m not letting go!! And I do have the DD-214’s and dash2 to
prove it folks. Unlike my lying friend who let me call him Colonel, salute him, respected him as one of our own, and pulled rank from time to time, turns out to be this!!!

Claw

“pulled rank from time to time,”

First sure sign of a poser.

At the first hint of being a LSOS, I would have said:

“A Snake driver in Vietnam? I’m sure glad we met. I have a question about how to fill out a DA Form 2408-12.”

And then watch as his eyes roll into the back of his head, the sweat starts to break out on his forehead and he makes with the fidgety foot routine.

Good times.

TJ Fagan

To something like that he would have probably said he didn’t remember the number of the form or it was a different form when hew flew. As he knows I wasn’t in Vietnam, he could skirt around that. I’m not sure if you saw my post about his screw ups, but one of his self-written resumes said he flew the AH-1″D” Cobra for many years. WTF is the D model? Even I knew, even before going to flight school, that it was the G model that was in service at the time. Now he could tell you today that: “Oh, that was just a typo.” But I knew the guy for over 11 years nd one I do know, he proof reads his documents. If he typed “D” model Cobra on his final copy, then that’s what he believed it was called at the time he typed that. Another screw up was I had asked him about a certain rocket configuration that I had seen on the G model. Instead of there being the typical beer can style of rocket launcher I had seen pics of of G models that what was basically seven individual rocket tubes strapped together. I figured that could have just been an early version of the rocket launcher. My question however, was that the tubes to me in the pic I had seen appeared to be of a larger diameter than that of the standard 2.75 FFAR I was was familiar with and I had asked him what that was all about. He didn’t understand the question so he basically just said that “Well, we just used the same ammo as you used. You know, HELLFIRES and TAU’s”. I typed TAU’s because he thought TOW was pronounced “TAU” like you were pronouncing Towel but just dropped the “ed”!!! That was the last evidence I personally needed to know this guy never flew Cobras. I didn’t need to see a forged DD-214 or anything else. I knew better. I knew there was not a SINGLE snake driver from Vietnam, or any other era for that matter… Read more »

Hey Claw: re “pulled rank from time to time,…First sure sign of a poser.”

I would gave tried that with you and 3/17 at the stately Claw Manor except we all have the same rank: 214.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Hell, next thing that DICK will claim is that he was at Area 51 and anal probed by ET…

3/17 Air Cav

Same old story, in the rear with the gear. Nothing wrong with that.probably feels pretty lucky at the time being out of harms way. Comes home, feels safe and relieved he made it out in one piece. Decides he wants to be a war hero. Starts telling the tale prob. Early 70’s

Total shitbag!

CW3 TJ Fagan

He has apparently closed his earlier active FB page, and now has a new FB uber Dick Cantner. There are two under that name, but the one with his Poodles, (another dead give away he wasn’t a Vietnam Snake driver as far as I can see?), on the cover page. However, his first page of pics he has posted his Class-A uniform pic TWICE!! Spite do ya think??? I do! Tear him up guys!!

Green Thumb

Another day passes and Richard “Dick” Cantner is still a turd.

Brian

I live about a mile from the college- be glad to help you with this guy.

TJ

Please do!!! Please let the College, the alumni association, his hometown of Hazleton know what he’s pulling here in Florida.

Starbux

I am not an Army guy, but I have worked in a joint staff assignment with them. My understanding is that officers don’t typically wear their marksmanship quals on their uniforms. Not an official reg, but a cultural thing.

rgr769

You are correct. As a young butter bar I was told by the Bn XO not to wear mine because as the Major put it, “as an officer you are presumed to know how to shoot, otherwise we wouldn’t put you in charge of a bunch of trigger pullers.”

Hookr48

Warms my heart to see a guy claiming to be an aviator. Don’t get me wrong, I’d still throat punch the guy and pin the correct wings to his bare chest. Nice work “master aviator”. I hope he stole his uniform rather than wasting money that should have gone to his unfortunate presumed ex-wife and kids. He’s too old to know how to work an Xbox controller to play call of duty so it’s clear he’s watched too many movies. Thanks for making my day. I have to go practice some approaches in my Chinook, Jayhawk, Sea Stallion and Mitsubishi Zero. Clear skies and tailwinds LTC Iceman.

The Old Maj

I am 90% certain this is the same guy who lived in the same trailer park as my dad about ten years ago (who was a a retired USMC Gunny). My dad always thought this guy was FoS. He was a real tool and told everyone his ex had taken his officer retirement pay.

The irony here is my dad worked supply and logistics in Vietnam. If douche had just told the truth instead of being a pants weasel they might have actually been friends.

HMCS(FMF) ret

How’s “Colonel” Cocksucker doing? Still rocking the lie about being a helo pilot?

Deal with the fame, RICHARD “THE DICK” CANTER
