Marshall Morris; phony Ranger/SF

Morris Marshall

Someone sent us their work on this Marshall Morris fellow in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to his LinkedIn profile he claims to have been a “Special Operations Team Leader” who was an “Airborne Ranger attached to Task Force 160th Special Operations Aviation Unit”. I don’t know why 160th SOAR would need an Airborne Ranger since it’s an aviation unit, but there you go. He also claims that he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal with a “valor” device. In another LinkedIn account (he needs two, I guess) Morris claims that he earned those two medals “while saving a fallen soldier in the Gulf War”.

The Army remembers his career differently, though. They say he was discharged in June 1991 after his service in the Gulf War with the 101st Airborne Division. He served four years like he claims, but he trained as an “11 Charlie” mortarman and left the service as a specialist (E-4).

He earned an Air Assault badge, Parachute Badge and a Good Conduct Medal, but no Purple Heart, no Bronze Star Medal with or without a “Valor” device. He was an infantryman in Desert Storm, but I don’t see a Combat Infantry Badge, so I don’t know what’s up with that. He also has only 2 Service Stars on his Southwest Asia Service Medal, so that makes me think that he left the Gulf before the Ground War began for some reason. But there’s no Ranger training, no Special Forces training, no assignment to the 160th SOAR.

Once again, take a perfectly good career, shit all over it, and viola! Instant douchebag!

Spot on. Geezus help me. This blog both restores my faith in humanity and nauseates me when i see stuff like this. (sigh).

Just An Old Dog

I have two Stars on my SWACM and I didnt get there until June of 1991.
He also doesn’t have either of the KLM’s listed. Since he got out in June 91′ It would make sense he doesnt have the Kuwait version, as it wasnt authorized until 1995. I never had it awarded either,( and not going to bother with it). The Saudi Version, which had stricter guidelines was not authorized until 1991.
Still one thinks he would have the CIB. The Brigade Deployed back to Ft Campbell in March 1991.
No Devil’s Advocate at all for the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Claims

Just An Old Dog

Ooop KLM (SA) was not authorized until Jan 92.

AZtoVA

I also have two stars, one for Desert Shield, one for Desert Storm. Goth there in late Sep ’90 and left in March ’91, got out Oct 1, ’91. Didn’t get the campaign stars or SA/KU liberation medals until I requested a DD215 in ’95 or ’96 to fix some other error, don’t even remember what at this point, that was caught in a records review at my NG unit.

If I hadn’t gone through that, my records would not indicate those awards either.

AZtoVA

Should have looked before I wrote – still have a photographic memory but the film is fading drastically.

My 214 issued Oct ’91 had the SWASM w/2 campaign stars, but neither of the KLMs.

My 215 issued in Jul ’93 had the SA version of the KLM, still no Kuwait version. It was in ’95 or ’96 that my unit added the KU version when it was released and the State Awards section did a records review for all that had the SWA medal.

Still, don’t know why he’d inflate his record. Since there are usually other things below the surface when someone does this, it invites even more scrutiny into one’s life and past. Perhaps he should have stayed a used car salesman?

John Waine

I was also in the gulf war, and talking with many medics, they were not at that time, awarded the combat medical badge, apparently, the war ended to quickly, and some of these medics I talked with, did not really get into the action, so maybe its the same with this fellow’s CIB. (taking no sides). just my thought.

A Proud Infidel®™

ANOTHER Legit Vet who JUST HAD to shit & piss all over his record, name and reputation for no shiteatingpisspants reason!! The bogus PH claim is bad enough and he looks like a meat gazer as well.

Chip

Dude had legit service. Most would be very proud of that service.

Chip

By the way, they left my Air Assault badge off my records and some other things. Why bother 20 years later? I have my certificates as proof.

Just FYI,

Frankie Cee "In the clear"

Multiple chips? As in “cow chips”, or “buffalo chips”? Or is it Potato Chips, or Poker Chips? Let’s end the confusion and clarify this. Some multiple chips are a good thing, while multiple “other” chips may not be.

ArmySGM

Hillarious

Hondo

The absence of the KLMs is explained by their approval dates – this guy got out before either was authorized by DoD, and records at NPRC reflect awards as of date of discharge. Awards approved retroactively after discharge (such as the KLMs in this guy’s case) won’t be there.

If he served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm proper (e.g., the shooting war), he’d have 2 CS on the SWASM. Campaign star periods for the SWASM are listed here:

http://prhome.defense.gov/Portals/52/Documents/RFM/MPP/OEPM/Docs/SWASM%20-%20Approved%20Campaigns.pdf

Per JOAD above, his unit was there for both Shield and Storm (departing in March, apparently). That is consistent with his FOIA reply from NPRC which shows SWASM w/2 CS.

Hondo

Addendum: lack of a CIB may be due to his particular company not engaging the enemy. Seems to me that some of the 101st Abn’s elements were inserted far behind nominal lines by air as deep blocking forces but never actually saw contact with the enemy. Working from memory, so I could be wrong about that.

Chip

You are correct.

Hondo

Thanks for the confirmation. Memory is good, but not infallible.

Chip

You know this guy should be bragging about taking part in the deepest air assault in history and being inserted deep behind enemy lines.

Ex-PH2

Ha!!! NO GEDUNK MEDAL!!!!

Finally, I’ve got one that he doesn’t have!!

Ex-PH2

Rats! I looked again. He does have a gedunk medal. Now I’m sad.

Chip

For the record as a Artilleryman I am proud to have qualified higher than this Infantryman on the M-16 being a Expert. Yes, I think the guy next to me hit some of my targets but does that really matter? I am also as sexy as this dude.

AZtoVA

But can you match his hand-grenade expert qualification?

Chip

No. I was a sharpshooter. Grenade rolled out of the circle.

Dapandico

Whose your hero?

Combat Historian

From one former 11 Charlie to another: Stop the phony embellishing bullshit and come clean; you don’t need this crap tarnishing you and your family. Just a friendly word of advice…

Hayabusa

I really don’t understand why these guys do this. Like there is some short of shame involved in having been an Airborne-qualified 11C who served with the 101st. That’s something to be proud of, and more than 99% of people can claim. I just don’t get it.

Hayabusa

Oh, and also, what the hell does being a “special operations team leader” have to do with his current job? How does that make him more qualified to sell used cars than just a regular infantryman?

Idiot.

Kilo3/7

Hey Marshall Morris of AMP Marketing – have some google hugs and kisses bitch. Once a used car salesman, always a used car salesman.

Atkron

Dude…Ducklips? Seriously?

You’re a middle-aged white dude not some 14 y/o girl.

What a dildo.

Chip

He’s posing as a 14 year old girl. Hahahaha.

Silentium Est Aureum

Sounds like SoMEoNe ELse we know, doesn’t it.

Bill M

Now, now. Maybe he “identifies” as a 14 year-old girl.

Claw

The lack of any personal awards higher than the Good Conduct Medal, for four years active duty, at a time when the Army was throwing Achievement/Commendation Medals to the masses just for making it to morning company formation on time two days in a row, tells me everything I want to know about this individual’s “stellar” career.

He appears me to be the company dud who thought his shit didn’t stink.

Just another 57A Duty Soldier who couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat with his rifle or a mortar, but was pretty good when it came to rolling the practice grenade into the little circle. Always gotta love those Expert Grenade Clasps.

Dumbass.

Indiana’s stolen valor law was signed by the governor on 22 March 2016 and is effective 1 July. Unlike the federal SV law, the Indiana statute uses the words “or other benefit” rather than “tangible benefit.” That could be quite a problem for valor thieves.

And speaking of the Purple Heart and Rangers, the SOB put himself in special company:

Sandman

As a former Nightstalker from that time period (91-95), I can tell you we had NO Ranger attached anything, unless you count a fast rope. Our compound was 160th, and nothing else.

mr. sharkman

You guys rocked, and rock, and will rock (eternally).

Nothing but the utmost respect for all of you.

Thanks for keeping the gray hair count as low as possible.

Green Thumb

Turd.

And I bet if we look closely, we will see that AMP marketing is an extension of All-Points Logistics.

I can only imagine this shitbag uses the stories to score trim.

Kilo3/7

I gotta ask, I keep seeing references to it but what the heck is All-Points Logistics and its significance?

Sparks

Kilo 3/7…All-Points Logistics will take you some research time in the TAH search archives for a turd named Phil Monkress, the current “dick” head of APL. A guy who claimed he was a SEAL and of course had the requisite Florida Motorcycle Club leather vests and all the SEAL and “mommies little hero” bling to go with it. My neighbor’s dog leaves a big steaming pile of Dildo Monkress on my lawn occasionally which always helps me remember him. His company is fun to call also. Just call and ask for Phil or if anyone there knows about his SEAL service claims. It’s a blast and a real stress reliever as i learned from a friend.

Green Thumb

Word.

Its always good to check in on the False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress and see how he is doing.

Phildo and his nefarious and unethical senior staff sometimes get a little riled up when you ask questions.

But as I have always told them: I call because I care.

Hondo

The full explanation would take quite a while. For starters, read this (which will itself take a while), then search the site using the terms “Monkress” and “Wickre”.

A used car salesman with honesty and integrity. Not unlike a catfish with arms and legs, in addition to an appetite for aluminum baseball bats. Now I find out after giving him a $10,000 deposit on a special order 2019 Pontiac Suzuki 5 wheel drive convertible with camel skin seats and La Bamba dice hanging on the rear view mirror…due in any day now, or so he says.

Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of good service record down the crapper

I just don’t understand why honorable service isn’t enough. Having been in just under 24 years I can’t count the soldiers who enlisted, did whatever was asked if them, and then moved on with life. That is something to be damn proud of, especially service in war. That alone should be enough. Don’t get me wrong, leaders need to recognize soldiers who distinguished themselves under fire. Quite often that is reflected in a PUC or VUA which reflects the contributions of all. I don’t understand it. Whatever happened to selfless service?

mr. sharkman

For some comedic relief, know that there are a few former knuckle-dragging, face-shooting, SOF guys who have gone on to fly for the 160th later in their careers.

A common joking reply to the question of ‘Why’d you make the change?’ is ‘because rucking everyone sucks and after a decade or more it starts to hurt all the time’.

Long ago, a particularly lethal and capable former SOF door-kicker (he might even be legendary) went the WO/160 route, and before a possibly very hairy evening the joke was ‘The worst thing the bad guys could do would be to shoot him down. He’d be so pissed that he had to actually put hard and fast klicks on his legs and feet again he’d most likely go kill them all on his own in a fit of vengeance before anyone else even got started’.

Have a good weekend everyone.

LiRight

It looks to me that John Medlock, of the previous story and this asshole would make a nice couple.

Yeah, real asshole buddies. Just sickening.

What exactly is the “Amy” Lapel Button (Is it better than the Sally or Lucy award)? And where would you have the serve to receive the Sothwest Asia Service Medal?

Hondo

If I recall correctly, the Army Lapel Button is given for receiving an honorable discharge.

To receive the SWASM, one would have to serve in/around the Persian Gulf during the 1990-1995 time frame. As I recall the full Area of Eligibility (AOE) at times also included part/all of the Arabian peninsula, Turkey, the Red and Arabian Seas, Israel, and part of the Eastern Med. I may have missed some areas, but I’m pretty sure that’s most of it.

Green Thumb

“If I recall correctly, the Army Lapel Button is given for receiving an honorable discharge.”

And some turds cannot even get that!

General Discharge = Shitbag.

Concerned Citizen

I was just being sarcastic. Just suprising to see a FOIA with errors. Normally they check that

OldManchu

As a former 11c in the 9th Infantry Regiment with a CIB, and my life long best friend a former 101st Airborne vet with a Desert Storm CIB…. this guy offends me. Not really because I’m not a millennial. But fuck this rats ass! Ruining good service record and giving us mortar maggots a bad rap!!!!

What is a ” US Army Bronze Star Medal”?

Didn’t know there was an Army only version
