Saturday morning feel good stories
Friday morning in Tulsa, Oklahoma, an armed man forced his way into a home. While he rummaged through the contents of the home, the homeowner fetched his own gun and shot the fellow. He was DOT (dead over there) when he ran out of the home and down the street where police found his earthly remains.
71-year-old Craig Manning of Wofford, California, went to check on his home after a previous burglary and encountered 22-year-old Lawrence Frenes coming out of Manning’s home. Manning held Frenes at gun point while a female called for the police. When Frenes came at Manning, Manning fired a warning shot in the air which influenced Frenes to scurry off. Police found him hiding a few blocks away.
In Cleveland County, Oklahoma, a couple were getting ready for bed when they heard someone breaking in their home. The armed husband encountered two armed criminals and engaged them in gunfire. When police arrived, they found one of the criminals Dead Right There in the yard with a gunshot wound to his head.
Seul Lim, a convenience store clerk in Spanaway, Washington, confronted a thief when he came in her store with his gun drawn. When she handed him the money, she also came up with her own gun and they had a brief gun fight a few feet from each other. It looks from the video at the link like the thief left the store at a high rate of speed and empty-handed. Ms. Lim said the store has only been open a few months, but she’s been robbed twice already. She was treated for a gun shot wound and released from the hospital from this encounter.

5 total perps, 2 DRT/DOT, a third in custody, and zero successful crimes. In baseball terms, that’s 3 for 3 with 2 HR – plus 2 walks.
Too bad about Ms. Lim getting shot, though; prayers for her speedy and complete recovery. The fact that she was treated and released is a good sign on that score.
Citizens with guns protecting what is theirs.
This morning 2 dead, and 2 ran with one of them being caught later.
“When Frenes came at Manning, Manning fired a warning shot in the air which influenced Frenes to scurry off.”
Warning shots are the things of movies. Aim at center mass and unload the weapon. No further warning needed. Shooting into the air is “Reckless Discharge of a Firearm”.
Frankie: I live in Michigan, I used to live in Colorado and some other places. If you are being attacked, if the attacker has a weapon (disproportionate size is a weapon), and you fear serious injury or death, two center mass and one in the head. IIRC in Colorado the official language is, “continue to fire until the threat abates” – my way achieves the officially approved goal.
Michigan specifies, “two center mass and one in the head“? I did not know that. But then I haven’t been in Michigan since 8/2001, and don’t plan to return until all roads are pothole free.
You’re never coming back to Michigan, Frankie?
Michigan law states:
780.972 Use of deadly force by individual not engaged in commission of crime; conditions.
Sec. 2.
(1) An individual who has not or is not engaged in the commission of a crime at the time he or she uses deadly force may use deadly force against another individual anywhere he or she has the legal right to be with no duty to retreat if either of the following applies:
(a) The individual honestly and reasonably believes that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent the imminent death of or imminent great bodily harm to himself or herself or to another individual.
(b) The individual honestly and reasonably believes that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent the imminent sexual assault of himself or herself or of another individual.
(2) An individual who has not or is not engaged in the commission of a crime at the time he or she uses force other than deadly force may use force other than deadly force against another individual anywhere he or she has the legal right to be with no duty to retreat if he or she honestly and reasonably believes that the use of that force is necessary to defend himself or herself or another individual from the imminent unlawful use of force by another individual.
Like I said, two in the engine room and one in the control room – always leaves the target dead. THAT is a professional job.
Frankie, if you are holding your breath for the potholes to be filled in, you are going to turn blue. Too many roads, too many potholes, too much freeze thaw, and not enough money. I can detect county lines by the change in potholes and road maintenance.
The Kalifornication defense, a warning shot into the air? What a waste of expensive ammo. Just lower that point of aim a few degrees, to center mass, and there will be no need for the po-po to go looking for the perp. If everyone is lucky, there will be no need for a trial and jail time.
Here comes the obvious….I keep looking for the ANY MORNING feel good story when I can really bless the reporter. Story I seek is as such: “Five Pieces of Shit From Washington D. C. Are Flushed Down the Drain With Severe Cases of Lead Poisoning From Who Cares How Many Cops” Burial Tomorrow At City Sewage System. In Lieu of Flowers, Please Send Big Macs!”
