Richard Currey; author, phony Vietnam vet

Richard Currey is an author who writes books about his experiences in the Vietnam War as a Fleet Marine Force Navy corpsman in Vietnam. His first book of poetry was titled “Crossing Over; The Vietnam Stories” in the late 70s, then he wrote “Fatal Light” in the 80s about a young fellow who leaves West Virginia and goes to Vietnam, like Currey did in the 60s. Currey writes about Vietnam veterans in the Vietnam Veterans Association’s Online Veteran. They reciprocate by excerpting his novels.
On his website, Currey has this as his biography;

Jungle warfare and special operations, huh?
West Virginia Wesleyan College lists his biography among West Virginia authors;

Well, his records tell a marginally different story. He was a corpsman in the Navy and he was assigned to a Fleet Marine Force, but not in Vietnam. In fact, he never left the Continental United States. He spent some time working at the hospital in Quantico, Virginia and then he went to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he joined a Fleet Marine Force, but it looks like he worked in their clinic and never left the US. There are no Vietnam service medals in his records, in fact, all there is the National Defense Service Medal, commonly known as the “Fire Guard Ribbon”, because that’s a duty everyone pulls and it’s a ribbon that everyone gets.

Nothing to be ashamed of, really. Currey served when many Americans were avoiding service. But, then he had to go and make shit up.

Yet another embellishing author.
Maybe he gets non-fiction and fiction confused.
I wonder if he has drinks with the Iceman?
Turd.
Dude was in the “SHIT” in the “NAM”… got into a firefight and tried to save his buddies that got all shot up using the “neck tourniquet” taught to them there in country… best buddy was a Marine by the name of Billy Joe Jim Bob Bubba Smith from Pigsknuckle, Arkentucky who was killed… save his platoon when two divisions of NVA overran them on patrol and the only thing he had on him was his Unit One full of Fallopian tubes and a suture needle to fight Charlie with… we know the “story”.
Dick, you dishonor those Hospital Corpsman that went to Vietnam and served, and those that did not come home alive. Fuck you and the donkey you rode in on, DICK!
Bahahhahah you win the internets for the day brother, he is a total DICK,He dishonors all of the Devil Docs.
LOL I never knew Fallopian tubes could be so lethal!
There’s that damn VVA again, my personal bone of contention. The Vietnam Veterans of America accepts for membership any Veteran who served ANYWHERE on AD between 5 August 1964 and 7 May 1975. Well, that plus $20 for a year’s membership (3 years for $50! Such a deal.) The org is real cute because it lists duty in Vietnam between those dates separately from its second qualifier, “all other duty locations.” Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t ALL duty locations between those dates include service in Vietnam? This is what I call enabling phonies. You can join VVA, wear a Vietnam Veterans of America cap, put a VVA sticker on your car, buy a VVA certificate (suitable for framing) and all of that, w/o ever having left the states is legit. Bullshit.
He looks like he “crossed over.” My question is in which direction?
For whatever reason it’s the honorable service embellishers like this guy that bother me the most.
‘Makes shit up’.
Yeah, I do that, too. It’s called ‘writing novels’ or ‘sea stories’, depending on the medium.
What a twerp.
Time for a hymn? YEAH IT IS, FUCK HIM, fuck him…
Booger-eating candyassed unicorn fart-sniffing bedwetting thumbsucker of an inbred buck-toothed Swamp Donkey.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYE FUCKING MEN!
Just another phony who wants to be “US” but is just a wannabe “THEM”
Fuck you, Dick! You miserable piece of shit!
Amazing, for decades, due to public outcry and humiliation, many viet vets shied away from being labeled a viet vet.
Now we’re welcomed home, (after being home for nearly 5 decades), and everybody near our age group wansta be one.
What an untimely 180 degree shift.
Go figure.
I am so fucking tired of these shitbag wannabe Vietnam vets! We came home and were shunned. We stripped off the uniform and did not talk about it for decades! Now we have all these assholes coming out of the woodwork. They claim what we earned! We’re we happy about being there? Hell, No! We came home and got on with life!
OK, my rant is over!
Dick, you my man are a fucking, lying, embellishing, shitstain!
There, I feel better!
Shitbag!
Find his books on Amazon, and put your comments and a link to this article in the Review section.
Let folks know that his “stories” are just that: Fiction.
Marines are Marines because they want to be. Corpsmen are Navy guys who end up being Marines on steroids. “Corpsman up!” means the shit is already hitting the fan and he has to haul through that shit to keep one of his buddies alive. I owe my life to a corpsman. He may have served honorably but he stained that honor with his bullshit.
I’ve always had a profound respect for Corpsmen. What they sign up for is simply wonderful. They get screwed with for being Navy, take it with a smile, and are tolerated. Until the shit hits the fan. When I was a First Sergeant, the two groups of untouchables in my company were Marine in their last two weeks and checking out (my policy was they belonged to me, so none screwed with them) and the Corpsmen. This guy just took a crap on his own perfectly honorable service.
Hey, I know that dude! We ALL do! Took me a few minutes till I recognized that smile and facial lines. He played the Joker in Batman. Remember when he used to make fun of Batman and say, “Holy Saigon Batman, Hue to go!!!
YOU MY BOY ARE A REAL POS YOU SHOULD TAKE EVERY DINE YOU MADE FROM THE BOOKS AND SEND IT TO VETS FUNRASIEDER
