Kyle Luginbyhl; Phony Ranger on Vets On

| July 18, 2014

Kyle Luginbyhl

A couple of days ago, we reported about Kyle Luginbyhl the paramedic who thought that a cool story about being a Ranger would help him win an award, instead it lost him his job. Our buddies Adam & James at Vets On Media invited Kyle on their internet radio show. So I’m putting this up for the phonies as an example on how they should be contrite.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a moron for what he did, but he’s marginally better than the rest because at least he owned up to it, you know after he tried the lawyer thing with us and it didn’t work. Not like so many others who cling to their lies until they finally get squashed flat.

I contritely cling to my lies.

Well, that is a rarity. Not unheard of, but a rarity.

However, IMO the more important thing is whether he becomes a repeat offender in the future. Many who initially recant later repeat their sh!tbaggery.

Let’s hope this clown has learned his lesson – permanently.

It may be a federal program so don’t hold me to it but here in Arizona employers get a tax discount (unemployment tax I think) of about 15% for hiring a Vet. Should that person turn out not to be a Vet the employer is responsible for repaying that discount. As I understand it penalties and fees may be assessed for falsely reporting and paying taxes.

Hmm. That could easily explain why his employer fired him so quickly, at least in part – economic cost and avoidance of potential fines on top of bad publicity.

they are always sorry when they get caught. At least he has taken some ownership of his mistakes.
Throw away a great career because you have some form of low self esteem, and feel the need to bolster your own image when it really didn’t need it? Just plain stupid!

Ex-PH2

Yes, I stopped telling the other kids that Superman was my boyfriend… when I was FIVE!

Gravel

Wait? What? We’re not boyfriend-girlfriend anymore?

The (super)man is always the last to know.

Does that mean that Aquaman has a chance with you, Ex-PH2???

Wink, wink 🙂

Actions speak so loudly I don’t hear anything people say anymore. Saying your sorry are just words, I want to see what he will do to make amends. No talk of spending time at a VA hospital, cleaning up a Veterans Cemetery, or an action of any kind. Making amends requires an action of some kind. He deliberately planned this and then put it into action. How about he pack up his shit and leave his girlfriend at home to deal with everything for a year while he joins the peace corps or some shit. Fuck him.

Screwed up, manned up (after a bit) and apologized…hopefully this ends the days of being a liar about military service. He should have been proud of what he was doing, saving lives is a noble and honorable profession.

How different it would have been to show humility instead of hubris….

Imagine had he said, ” I am so honored to be nominated for this award, I am inspired to serve my community through the examples of our troops who also perform life saving work under the most unimaginable of circumstances. ”

That statement would have veterans across the nation talking about what a great guy he is for saving lives and understanding the value of service to nation or community.

Some of these poor fools act like veterans are an exclusive club that won’t accept them if they are not also veterans….I am honored to know a great many firefighters and LEOs who’ve never served in the military, but daily risk their lives in service to their (and my) community. They do difficult work, often unappreciated and unconsidered until they are needed.

I do indeed hope he can rebuild and continue the work he was doing saving lives because he was apparently good enough at it to be nominated for that award, and any community can benefit from another dedicated lifesaver on the payroll.

Re-Pasting what I said about this video in the orginal post: Wow, that’s a bit unusual. That almost is worth a post of its own so more folks see it. I didn’t watch all the video for folks comments after the fact, but I did watch his explanation/apology. Hmmm, my impression. He actually did what I suggested. Stood up, admitted he lied, explained why, and apologized. And it was as simple as he was trying to make himself “look better” within the paramedic community. But if you think I’m saying he gets a free pass, in the words of Lee Corso, “Not so fast my friends!” Okay so among his brethren he isn’t clinging to to his lies and nonsense like Round Ranger, Snake Eyes Jordan, Cheese Gobbler, Rick Fine, and countless others. So he is one of the more “honorable” phonies we’ve met. It’s kind of like winning the Citizenship Award in the Prison GED program. Or it’s like saying you have the nicest skin of anyone at the Leper’s colony. He’s a turd who did the right thing when caught…but still a turd. Some other key observations from watching this. His BS about legal advice in the beginning, and his repeated used of “nominated not appointed” to West Point makes me 110% certain he was Sock Puppeting on here and sent that stupid lawyer letter to Jonn. I’m guessing he asked the guys not to bring it up, but even though he apologized in public, I’m certain in private he’s going to stick to the excuse that the company came up with the idea that he should fake a military background to win that award. Sorry dude, not buying it. And based on the stories coming out of Artesia, NM, although you’re trying to save face on this issue; this is not the first time you’ve lost a job because you were a bullshit artist. And drop the whole damn “nominated not appointed bullshit” So what I’m guessing happened is that you met the minimum admission requirements to West Point, but didn’t get your Congressman’s spot to put… Read more »

He looks like he’s still young enough to serve, so here’s an idea. If he wants to really make amends, then the thing to do is walk into a recruiter’s office. Even if they have to turn him away for some reason, at least he made the effort.

In my opinion the apology is shaky. He made the comment that he was given advice not to talk about why he did what he did. That’s where it started, and if it’s not rooted out and exposed, it could possibly rear its head again later on.

CLAW131

From the picture,he does appear to meet the age requirement for the Armed Forces, so here is the only apology acceptable to me. When I see him at a swearing in ceremony at a MEPS and some years later a DD214 with “HONORABLE” listed in the Character of Service block, then I’ll give him a pass. Until then, he is a “NO GO” at my station.

CLAW131

Sorry, should have included “able to pass background criminal checks and no mention of being a Bull Shit Artist in any evaluation reports” as part of my requirements.
