Eustace Horne; Vietnam veteran embellisher

| March 27, 2014

Eustace Horne

Someone sent us a link to our friends at Wounded Times’ Kathie Costos who uncovered this fellow, Eustace Horne, who was creating the National Vietnam War Museum in Orlando, Florida. The local articles about him have said he served three tours of Vietnam and that he’s one of the “most decorated” veterans in Florida.

Horne served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the Silver Star, three Bronze Stars with Valor, Purple Hearts and more. But while the museum is a place filled with stories, his is not one the former Green Beret wished to share.

“It’s something that’s personal for me, and I don’t want to talk about it. It’s just between me and my God,” said Horne.

Well, God isn’t going to like that Horne has been lying to Him in their conversations. Horne left the Army in 1974 as a staff sergeant, although he’s been claiming to be a major. He had one tour of Vietnam as a dump truck driver and a battalion communications sergeant in the 31st Engineer Battalion.

Eustace Horne Assignments

He already had an impressive career, he earned a Bronze Star Medal with a “V” device for valor, and Purple Heart and an ARCOM for his service in Vietnam, I guess he figured that wasn’t enough;

I used to live about … oooohhh … 10 minutes drive from there, and I am still a member of the Legion Post that is closest to the actual museum.

I hope people don’t judge the actual museum harshly just because of this guy, it’s a really well done place.

I’m not saying I know this guy, but he does look familiar to me. I’ll ask around.

Concerned

@Gravel, the problem is this guy is seeking to remove the museum and take it elsewhere and while, if you live near there, you know there is no admission fee to get into the museum. However, where SSG (alias Major Horne) is seeking to move it – there will be fees involved and someone will be making some money and one can only wonder if he has lied about his so-called awards, what else does he lie about. Is this a personal monetary gain? Is he falsifying his credentials to gain donations for his new venture – that I believe is not legal but not being a lawyer I can’t answer that for sure – but it makes you wonder – WHAT does he have to gain by moving the museum????

He is in it for the money, he has 2 college professors that teach world economics at his side , both of retirement age . What does that say. I spoke to Orlando Airport authority and they said Quote ” his proposal to deal with us is more of a dream than a proposal” Unquote. I cannot get law enforcement to do anything, one agency was quoted by me, He is a smart scammer, I asked “smarter than you?”

It makes sense that the guy who heads up a VN Museum that is stocked with all kinds of military goodies doesn’t want to talk about his experinces as an Army major and a Green Beret, or the action for which he reportedly received the Silver Star. Makes perfect sense. After all, the education of the public regarding VN is probably the last thing he wants to accomplish. I am 100% sure that’s the reason this fellow talks only with God about the matter. Yep, 100%.

There’s a guy here in California near March AFB who runs the “Museum of the Forgotten Soldier”. This place is fascinating but the real thing is the curator/owner was NEVER in the service and doesn’t BS about it. He does this as a labor of love and a tribute to real veterans. Not everyone lies about this shit.

Jack Martin President of the VIet Nam Veterans of Central fla.

Brother this is my 2nd round as Prez of the Vietnam vet. of Central Florida. I or we worked two years to keep the members who survived his bull shit. He knew exactly what he did and where he was heading. He is currently registering our museum in his name and has 30 to 40 unsuspecting (maybe not now) members. He is the real imposter I vowed to drop my investigation and walk out for good if he showed me a dd214 , Quote: ” no, I’m not going to do that, not for you ,or anybody else! ” unquote. If you knew me as my members do you would make a phony one just to get me and my members off your back….not that it would work.

Again, a case of a guy with a perfectly honorable career taking it and fucking it all up.

MSGRetired

I just dont get why these clowns with a very honorable career have to flush it away by making shit up.
SSG Horne you are an ASSHOLE !

Sparks

MSGRetired. I am with you. I don’t understand him. He left Vietnam with far more acclaim and awards than I did and he wasn’t proud enough of that. I will second your motion, “SSG Home…you have made yourself a first rate ass hole now”.

Kinda old ET1

Stupid Jackwagon. He has nothing to be ashamed about his real service record. I just don’t get some people.

*side note: he just had to besmirch the name Horne… Bastard.
** I served onboard USS Horne.

Green Thumb

Florida?

I will not even go there.

I believe you folks know where this man can get a job.

Mustang2LT

Oooh, oooh, I know!
All-Points Logistics!

Sparks

Let me guess. Chief Historian for All-Points Logistics?

Veritas Omnia Vincit

APL Museum of the Internationally Famous Exploits of Military Posers Incorporated?

Ex-PH2

Seems to me that being a dump truck driver was kind of important. Yeah, well, he WENT to OCS but was apparently a washout, so that makes him a Major, right?

Okay. Whatever. Want some squid chips, GI?

Hondo

Hmmm . . . . based on his assignments, looks like someone’s still butt-hurt over not making it thru OCS and getting a commission.

Too bad. He otherwise actually had quite a good career – BSM w/V (unlike another comm guy we all know and “love”), ARCOM, VSM, VCM, and a PH. Pity he had to travel Route MSU and act like a dildo (e.g., a fake prick).

Green Thumb

He is wearing what appears to be cross rifles on his hat.

LebbenB

Yup. I caught that, too.

Jack Martin

a lot of people noticed that. While joining the Nat, Guard after discharge from the Corps after a yr and a half in I corpsI know cross rifles were an elite unit in itself. Horne in front of and other witnesses claimed to be Ranger, Special Forces and Green beret, I BELIEVE THAT HIS SERVICE OF ONE TOUR IN vIET nAM WITH ANY OF THESE UNITS WOULD BE MORE THAN 5 YRS IN THE ARMY, AND NOO HE DIDNT GET A SILVER STAR OR THREE BRONZE MEDAL OR THREE PURPLE HEARTS WITH VALOR. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO POST HIS DEPT OF DEFENSE RECORDS MADE AVAILABLE TO US FRREE AS IT IS NOW PUBLIC RECORD. jUST E-MAIL ME AT Marine0019@aol.com Thank you all for your support, but I need more. He is still out there soliciting our museum to which he has no claime to under our name, the owners and operators of the museum, Viet Nam and all Vetrans of Central Florida
thank you Jack MARTIN usmc
president of the VAVCF and home of the Larry Smedley National War museum
OOOOOOOHHHHRRAAHH

rb325th

If he is still soliciting donations for your museum, where is the money going? I think that is a question law enforcment should be asking him. Hoping you have informed them of that.

Jack Martin

he is using the money to hire laywers to fight us and also to pay for his high cars. We have OCSO Sherrifs office on it but they are dragging their feet. Itis all too strange to believe. Today we got a bill for 1200 dollars for an appraisal of our property we never asked for. Waiting for the appraisal company to respond who ordered it up. Thanks for asking

Concerned

He also wears a Ranger Hat for other occasions.

rfisher

Being an ADM Team Chief is somewhat special, I don’t think they let just anybody do that. (I went to the school in 1980.) Again, no need to make up stuff. What a Marooon!

Beretverde

Phuck him and the dump truck he rode in on.

Jack Martin

great answer bro

Mustang2LT

This motherfucker! What, being an Engineer wasn’t good enough for him? Let’s see, who was branched Enigineer…….
Robert E. Lee
Ulysses S. Grant
Douglas MacArthur
Oh, and who do surveyors fall under these days? Oh yeah, ENGINEERS! So let’s see, who was that surveyor who led the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War? That’s right, boys and girls, General George Washington! But this clown took honorable service in the Engineers and shit all over it and my Corps. Fuck you, Horne!

Mustang2LT

Oh yeah…..just to show it isn’t just about the officers. SFC Paul Ray Smith – awarded the Medal of Honor during Iraqi Freedom (first one of that conflict, if I’m not mistaken). A soldier’s soldier and also an Engineer!

Doc Savage

I spent 3 years as a SAPPER instructor; Engineers are one of the hardest working, most called upon branches in the United States Army…That, and his already impressive record should have been enough for this dud, but he had to tarnish it will bullshit.

Jack Martin President of the VIet Nam Veterans of Central fla.

Hey partner I too drove a dump truck , while unlike Horne who claimed to have been shot in the face by gunshot , by bow and arrow, and legs , I’d say he’s a lucky guy. Especially to have survived three yrs with the Azores us. It took 2 1/2 yrs to get the facts.
I’m proud of any soldier who puts on a uniform even if he was in the beaches of Azores for his tour

I am the New President of the VVCF, 3400 N. Tanner rd. Orlando, Fla. 32826
I’d like to thank everyone for your support especially Semper fi, and Nam Knights of Orlando. Our organizations are important to our comnunity. We have worked for the last 20 yrs on the Larry Smedley Museum as a jiont effort to allow us to express to our comnunities that we as a whole cannot help our wounded warriors alone. We have beacking from our “Sea Bee ” reserves and U.S. Army reserves. While Eaustace Horne may be only interested in his own financial gain we dedicate our mission to anyone that allows us the time. I too was an engineer (3rd eng bn.) Marine Corps and if I had one Bronze star I’d be proud with that alone..what makes me prouder is to have fought in a war with the Names on the wall and my fellow members from the above mentioned..
