Kokesh to march on DC again

| May 4, 2013

Folks have been sending me links all day about Adam Kokesh’s plan to march on DC with loaded guns from Virginia on July 4th. He’s hoping to assemble a thousand of his followers – in fact, he says he won’t march if he doesn’t get at least a thousand. From Salon;

Whether Kokesh actually goes through with his plan remains to be seen — he says he won’t do it unless 1,000 join him — but the protest may strike a chord with gun fanatics, who stage “open carry” protests across the country to fight gun control laws. There was one in Washington in 2010, but those rallying inside District lines did not actually carry weapons.

Personally, I don’t see it happening. Yeah, I know, Kokesh has walked away from every one of his arrests in DC in the past, but that was until he marched into DC with a loaded gun. People take gun laws a little more seriously than they take laws against littering, trespassing and putting up posters in Federal Parks. Kokesh should know that since he was barred from reenlistment in the Marines Reserve for smuggling an Iraqi pistol back to the US.

But I see the Virginia State Police and the Metro PD blocking the bridge so Kokesh isn’t allowed to break the law, but I also think it’s hard for Kokesh to assemble 1000 supporters with guns from his hippie band. he invited 15,000 people to his march on his Facebook page and 600 have promised to attend, but then his last project, Veterans for Ron Paul March on the White House promised thousands and had 400 actually attend, according to his own numbers.

While I appreciate the spirit of the march, i don’t in anyway support it. When we fall into the stereotype of the outraged gun nut, we don’t do anything for our gun rights in the view of the public – and that’s where we win battles for gun rights, in the court of public opinion. There have been a couple of stunts recently by well-meaning, but ill-advised friends which make gun owners, in general, look bad. This is another one.

But, then I didn’t get an invitation to the March from Kokesh, so it probably won’t surprise or offend him that I don’t support him this time either.

A thousand unwashed Occupy Wall Street morons are social activists? Whereas a thousand citizens peacefully exercising their constitutional rights are gun nuts?

“and that’s where we win battles for gun rights, in the court of public opinion. “

This IS a clear definition of ‘Stunt’.

Even if Kokesh gets his 1000 participants it will not serve anything other than his ego, AND to be touted by the anti-Second Amendment lot as an example.

All just a photo op for Obama’s 2014 Take Back Congress campaign.

Nothing more.

That would be the marxist portion of Kokesh, Zero. Helping his comrades get their new-fangled gun laws passed.

There should be armed militia marches in Washington, every state capital and every major city every single week. It is time to remove the cockroaches from power in this country. These militias should be out in force for EVERY protest in this country to protect citizens from local, state and federal police. If police knew they would be immediately shot if they violated anyone’s rights, we would have far fewer violations of rights.

So, what’s he protesting? NOT having guns? Or HAVING guns? Or is he just pissed off in general so he’s bringing guns into it?

I haven’t been in Virginia in almost 43 years, but I do know that back then, the cops would block a street with sawhorses and weapons, and the DC police would use teargas, but here were war protestors all over the place.

Oh, hey! Maybe they’ll use teargas again. If it comes up online, someone let me know! Oh, yeah, if they march over to the Pentagon and try to get inside, I have to see that. Man, that would bring back memories!

Hey, gram @5, we aren’t supporting anarchy here.

#5 gram: STFU. We aren’t Prognazis. Not all cops are jack-booted thugs, and we don’t have Soros to fund your BS.

As we speak, Kokesh is speaking at the Libertarian Party of MN state convention. There’s at least 50 people in attendance, so maybe he can push his idea to the crowd.

@#5: Troll Alert

On a lighter note, he will not march unless he gets 1,000 to go with him. Either a complete lack of conviction (big surprise from that showboating jackass) or total empty gesture. Never happen so what are we talking about Oh, that’s right, him which is what he wants!

#10: All cops are not as you say but the video from Boston is pretty friggen chilling.

This clown strikes me as having worked at a car wash.

Ex-PH2

Carwasher in a clown suit.

Now that would scare me away from the carwash.

The number is an out. He knows there aren’t enough like-minded morons all willing to risk PMITA prison time for something like this.

OTOH, was out and about at the local Wally World with a guy openly carrying. Lo and behold, nobody got shot, nobody was running out of the store in terror of a guy with a Glock holstered on his shorts.

Remain calm, all is well.

Ex-PH2

On a side note, I was unaware that Kokesh could count that high.

#5 needs to be taken back to the home and given her meds… maybe even double the dosage.

As to Kokesh, he is once again begging for attention. if he put this much effort into actually being a productive citizen in society, he would probably be rather successful. Unfortunately, I am not too sure his elevator gets out of the basement.

“If police knew they would be immediately shot if they violated anyone’s rights, we would have far fewer violations of rights.”

That is a sick thought right there. Or are you a Homeland Security or Southern Poverty Law Center plant? Go peddle your pap elsewhere. No one here is buying that crap.

#13 Don’t disagree with you.

If it’s a matter of principle for Kotex, why the minimum number requirement? (That’s a rhetorical question.)

@5 Gram, those cops you want fearing for their lives are out there every day protecting you as best they can. it is not your job to chase down the armed criminal, it is mine! near everyone i work with is a big supporter of the second ammendment, and from personal expirience, the best crime deterent is an armed populace. but when that deterent fails, and you fear for your family because a killer/robber/rapist is on the loose, remember who you wanted fearing for their lives.

“But I see the Virginia State Police and the Metro PD blocking the bridge so Kokesh isn’t allowed to break the law…”

Huh?!

Why should the Virginia State Police have any concern over the breaking of a D.C. law? No jurisdiction there, and he wouldn’t be breaking the law in Virginia, so not a Virginia problem.

Hell, The VSP should give him an armed escort to the Capitol building steps, telling D.C. cops to self-fornicate every step of the way.

@#24 PavePusher-Kokesh intends to rally on the VA side of the Potomac at the Memorial Bridge. As I noted when I linked back to Jonn’s piece, Arlington County owns the pavement there, and Park Service owns the green areas. Neither of those agencies will tolerate an un-permitted march or assembly on that side of the river. When/IF they actually organize to the point of stepping off across the Memorial Bridge, they will encounter Arlington County and VA State Police. IF they make it across the bridge, they will be met by Uniformed Park Service and DCMetroPD. It will not happen. Not without the proper paperwork; and Kokesh will never get the permit unless he lies about the purpose on the application.

Compare and contrast: I attended the NRA convention in Houston this weekend. I think their pre-convention estimate of 70,000 may wind up being a little light (heck, one aisle
seemd to have 70,000 in it.) There were a few protesters across the street, maybe 10-20, but generally there were no issues, confrontations, or problems other than the parking lot operators jacking their fees to $30 a car. Polite crowd, and I suspect a good chunk were carrying.
