Virginian-Pilot is on to us
Mad Jack sends a link to the Virginian-Pilot which reports on a serial arsonist who has been setting scores of fires along the Chesapeake Eastern Shore. The police haven’t released a profile of suspects, but that doesn’t stop the crime fiction fans at the Virginian-Pilot from speculating based on their viewing diet of CSI and Criminal Minds;
Could it be someone ex-military, possibly trained in special operations? An inside job by someone in law enforcement or the volunteer fire stations? Maybe the arsonist thinks he’s doing the county a favor by burning down blighted buildings?
Experts say serial arsonists often fall into several categories, including those who are excited by fires, those who pose as heroes and those who want revenge on society or an institution.
The vast majority are dealing with mental health issues, said Edward Nordskog, a detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arson and bomb squad who wrote a book on notorious serial arsonists.
You know because special forces operatives are well-known for their arsonist operations – and they’re all dealing with mental health issues. A pre-teen child could set a building on fire, but it’s probably a special forces soldier out doing it. Keep it classy, V-P.

It’s me. I admit it. I like watching stuff burn and blow up.
As I recall, the V-P suppressed a story about its reporters being beaten by a mob because its owner was going to get a job in Obama’s regime.
Given the heavy-handed prognazi management of the newspaper, the brain-damaged veteran meme is standard fare.
I looked at the article and the commenters are betting on a fireman or cop. The papers premise that because they haven’t caught the arsonist(s) means they are some highly trained individuals is slightly faulty, but lets round up the usual subjects anyway.

Those who are most likely to burn down a building according to a 4th rate rag published in VA Alex?
Why not disgruntled tax payers? Bored teenagers? Al Qaeda? Why not just admit that since they haven’t a f#cking clue what they are talking about they are going to make wild guesses that are completely unsubstantiated at this point?

Maybe it is the reporters from the VA-Pilot. They seem to have mental health issues and would benefit from the crime. Don’t the morons realize how easy it is to turn the tables?

You don’t say? And all this time I thought it was perfectly normal and pro-social behavior to torch buildings. Thank goodness an expert was consulted. And as long as we are playing the could-it-be game, how about this one: Could it be a reporter with the Virginian-Pilot who needed a good story that had some staying power? Hmmmm.

I read the article hoping the reporter was just quoting some “government official” speculating; like Major Bloombat blaming the Times Square bomber on the Tea Party, but no those appear to be the reporter’s own thoughts. Can we just get a straight news story for a change?
Well, that explains Detroit, doesn’t it? The military has been practicing on the vast amount of abandoned buildings in the dem-controlled city, causing fires daily. Or, maybe it’s the reporters from the Free Press or the Detroit News?

I think the arsonist is a journalist hoping to get a juicy arson story.
It’s been a long, cold lonely winter. Could be squatters if it’s mostly abandoned properties.
Or just mischief. That happened in January on the south side of Chicago: 5-11 fire that pulled in 200 firefighters and was still burning three days later, after the CFD thought it was out.
And the person with the correct answer is? #19-OWB! Instinct tells me so…So yea, the reporters started them.
This is happening right over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel across from Norfolk. Almost every morning the local news has another report of a fire. Right now it’s all abandoned or empty but some of the structures have been historical in value like old churches or schoolhouses.
If Law and Order has taught me anything after the thrill of abandoned structure fires wears off for the arsonist might resort to occupied structures 🙁
Okay, so they mentioned all of the good guys in a list, but where’s the BGs like AQ?
I’m going with either:
a) Occupy Accomack: The buildings were owned by members of the “1%” and needed to be redistributed.
b) A group of Democratic state legislators looking to lower property values.
SWO–this is the area my girlfriend lived in before she moved up here a couple of years ago.
To say it’s economically depressed would be an understatement, but seriously, someone from Norfolk has the time/money to drive up Route 13 and set a bunch of fires? Yeah, I’m guessing not.
And the Virginian-Pilot hating on the military? (gasp) Unpossible! Oh wait–it’s the Va-Pid paper. Of course they’re going to do any story that could possibly make the military/first-responders look bad.

She’s in dire need of a story, so she’s starting the fires herself and blaming everyone else to get her story down.
