Matt Farmer does Tim Poe imitation (Update)

A couple of people sent me this story a few days ago and I pretty much ignored it because, ya know sometimes I just get tired of doubting veterans and I figure someone is going to start telling the truth sooner or later. I guess I’m burning out. But, luckily, the folks at Guardian Valor didn’t drop the ball like I did.
According to this Matt Farmer dude, who was on American idol says in the video that he was knocked unconscious by an IED in Iraq and woke up in the hospital in Kuwait. Well, in the Tim Poe model, the folks he served with say that’s not true.
Here is the back ground. I was the sniper section leader attached to his company and lived in the same room with him until he was medevac’d from Ramadi because he got drunk while he was taking accutane, an acne medication.
He proceeded to rat out everyone he was drinking with and never came back to the company. He was never involved in one single direct fire engagement, was never wounded, and made up this whole lie to try and make his story sound good to American Idol.
The theatre was Ar Ramadi Iraq 1Bn 26inf blue spaders 1ID attached to 1-77ar 1ID and 2nd marine expeditionary force. His actions endangered the rest of his platoon and company and forced the rest of the company to be searched in what is called a “health and welfare” for illegal substances.

Guardians of Valor have a number of other eye witness accounts. So you should read them all and they have a rather lengthy statement from Farmer;
I did drink and overdose on pills. Was Medevaced to Al Asad where i was there fro several days (Not sure how many as most of it was in a drug induced blur) than sent to Laundstill Germany. There they did lots of psyhc evals where they told me i had PTSD and anxiety disorder. I was then transfered Back to my unit in Schweinfurt Germany. I was never KICKED out of iraq. I was told that i needed to go back to my unit to undergo further evaluations.
EVerything was medical and Psyc. I wasnt kicked out of iraq or the army.
Yeah, it goes on like that. All of the grammar and spelling is original. But basically, farmer says he didn’t lie, but there is no IED – it was unauthorized substance abuse that got him tossed out of Iraq and eventually the Army.
All of this phony shit has to end sometime.
UPDATE: It looks like the media is beginning to take notice. At the time of this posting Fox News has posted a story about the questions about his military background. Fox News and Columbus ledger-enquirer also cite our friends at Guardian of Valor for the info.
Farmer and Fremantle Media, the production company behind “American Idol,” did not respond to a request for comment, and FOX declined to comment for this story.
Farmer told the site he ended his “Idol” journey on the first day of Hollywood Week.

Just to caveat off of John, if you scroll to the bottm and click the link, their is another video, where he made a confession of sorts to a preacher..lol. And he claims to have been a sniper and also claims the IED once again.
I was prepared to throw the flag at “I woke up in the hospital in Kuwait.” That might have been true in 2003, but afterward no treatment facilities in Kuwait were in the evac plan, at least for someone wounded as far north as Ramadi.
My VERY first thought when I saw this guy was:
Tim Poe.
I remember thinking out loud that I hoped he wasn’t a fake. He was leaning on it far too much to truly be proud of his “exploits.” and the tat was just too much. (Not having it, but having it where it would show and they’d comment on it.)

I turned to my wife while watching this and said, “I hope this guys story is not a crock of shit like Tim Poe’s”! What an idiot! Anyhow, Farmer’s ex wife commented over at Guardian this morning: “As ex wife and mother of kaydince farmer Matt’s daughter that was shown Wednesday night I would like everyone to know kaydince should not be represented as poor girl because she is safe with me. Kaydince is a wonderful little girl and has a family here in my home. Her biological dad Matt needs help. After everything I was even lied to as his wife while married to him. Please anyone involving kaydince stop she has no involvement and won’t. Matt has his own issue and needs to deal with them as a human being himself without kaydince. So what exactly is the difference (in terms of claiming responsibility for oneself) between lying to get attention and something which sounds very much like demanding that others help him do whatever it is that will get him to be responsible for himself?? It just sounds a LOT like a variation upon a theme, but I would like to be proven wrong.
