Phony Marine/Cop Skyler Whalen sentenced

| December 19, 2012

We first ran into Gunny Skyler Whalen last Spring when a group of Marines discovered his Facebook page and lit out after him. Within a few months, Whalen was back to his fakery, this time responding to a call at a local fair as a police officer. After he was arrested for that, he faked documents for a car and defrauded two car dealers – I guess that was the last straw for the judge, because that’s why he was sentenced to 150 days in the local jail, with 48 days of time served credit according to the Kingman Daily Miner, a link sent to us by Joseph;

He said he’s now got a steady maintenance job, volunteers with the American Legion, plays lead guitar in the church band and is less than 10 credits away from graduating from an online high school.

“I’m not as good as I’m going to get, but I’m definitely better than I used to be,” Whalen told Mohave Superior Court Judge Steven Conn.

Conn had the option of imposing up to a year in jail after Whalen entered into a plea agreement with the state for a guaranteed three years on probation.

Prosecutor Ken Skousen recommended six months jail time, which he said was deserved given Whalen’s accelerated rate of criminal acts.

I guess if you poke the bear long enough, sooner or later you’ll get biten.

So, when people graduate from an on-line high school, where do they go for their senior class trip?

Wow, how poetic……..is is just me or did he rip that off from the Toby Keith song?

Huhhuhhuh…he said “class trip.”

And seriously, if anyone here thinks this douchenozzle will learn from this little trip to jail, I got a bridge to sell ya.

I’m pretty annoyed the American Legion would be degraded themselves by allowing this punk within their presence. I think if somebody like this got near my VFW group we’d ship him to Afghanistan in a seabag.

Two counts of fraud AND impersonating a police officer only gets him 150 days in jail? Time to replace that judge because he’s off his rocker.

#1: JAIL!

FatCircles0311: at his age he was almost certainly a first offender. Judges are usually reluctant to really hammer first offenders.

Further, that’s 5 mo incarceration – and the prosecutor was only recommending 6 mo. He may also now have a felony record – I think that much probation time means he must have pleaded guilty to at least one felony. That leaves a mark.

Bottom line: he didn’t get as much as I’d like to have seen, but the sentence is not a “slap on the wrist” for a first offender, either. I can live with it.

He can’t come up with anything original himself, which is why he’s living in fantasy land – which probably explains why he’s using Toby Keith lyrics.

According to the article: “Whalen was charged with impersonating a police officer after responding in uniform to the Fairgrounds in March but that charge was dropped as part of the plea deal.” I’ll bet in Whalen’s mind’s-eye, that makes it OK. Now he just has a few months to ponder how to get away with it next time.

I believe we’ll hear about this guy again in the near future – perhaps in the form of an obituary.
