Skyler Whalen; Ebay Recondo

| February 8, 2011

A group of real Marines tracked down another pretend Marine named Skyler Whalen who claims to be a gunnery sergeant, but looks about twelve years old. The Marine Times records some of their exploits;

Like wildfire, a painstakingly researched PowerPoint presentation detailing Whalen’s fantasies was e-mailed, posted, distributed and discussed on popular military forums and websites.

Before long, “Gunny Whalen’s” Facebook and MySpace pages both vanished.

The Marine Corps confirmed in an e-mail that there is no record of Whalen, a teen who appears to live in Kingman, Ariz., a railroad town of 25,000 near the California border.

Several calls to his family’s home in Kingman were not returned and e-mails went unanswered.

I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t email me, but better late than never, here’s the PowerPoint presentation;

I’m always up for some phony soldier shit. These Facebook Rangers seem to be multiplying. I know I get a lot of hits from searches on how to fake a DD214.

I’d like to put this dumb fuck in the sandpit for an hour and see if he still wants to claim to be a Marine. Someone should also inform him his pimple cream don’t work worth a shit.

I’ll admit I know jack about Marine medals but this fool didn’t look like anything more than a clown. did he think passing off this lie would get him laid?

Old Tanker

Puh-leeze, no double Cav patches? Not even a good fake …

NHSparky

I was just thinking if they tried to put him through the Crucible, he’d end up losing enough weight to maybe enlist (although the ASVAB is still an open question) and then award himself the MOH for that horrifying experience.

Sandpit heck too, GruntSgt! Make him and these other phony’s complete boot camp as part of their punishment.

Is it really necessary to post this kids address and phone number so some cyber vigilante can harass him and his family? Yea, it was pretty dumb what he did but I think the harm has already been done. There is no need to post his address and phone number. If something bad happens to him or his family, we’ll all have blood on our hands. You should remove that slide detailing his exact location.

I live here in Kingman where the “Gunny” does, and while i was in the marine corps career senter (our local recruiting office) he walked in SSgt Osentoski gave him some papers, and he left later my SSgt told me he was enlisting and set for MEPS for OCT, Im starting to wonder how F’d up he is going to get in boot

all i had to do was google him and stuff came up, so it’s not difficult to get information that he, himself, put out there. on that note, i did find a job website that he created a profile for. he has all his wonderful marine achievements on there…people like this piss me off, lie about a military career to get something or to look good (or lying about a military career at all).
my sister is dating a douche like this. supposedly he was an awesome marine sniper, got in trouble for coke use and went to prison for it for a few months, lived in alaska for a few years (my husband and i currently live in alaska, everything he said about the place was a lie), worked at HEB for 3-4 years, got common law married to someone, and some other bull all within 2-3 years…uhhh pretty impossible, dude, you’re timeline is a little messed up, and being common law married in the military is pretty difficult….but everytime i bring up something about the military he just gives me blank stares. i had a marine buddy of mine look him up in their database and he said that the guy doesnt exist in their database (shocking). yet my sister just thinks he’s God’s gift to mankind….i wish i could take him out hunting and show him my shooting skills, we’ll see who was really in the service……

Here is some news WRT the shitbag:
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/skyler-whalen/18/40b/236

Really hope that nobody has contacted him for enlistment opportunities. Be a shame if a person has fallen for this then blames the service for not calling. Then again you can lead someone to the well but if they do not drink the water.

I have sent Linkedin a complaint, Here it is a very simple but to the point concern for them to address:

There is a member who is posting himself as a United States Marine. This member has been proven as a fraud. Here is his link:

This is a little late, but the only Navy/Marine Corps Medal I’ve ever seen awarded was to a Captain who served on the USS Wisconsin mishap, after the explosion on the main turrent – but that was years ago.

Handy Hambrick

I went to school with this sorry fuck. He used to come to school dressed in his marine outfit and tell evryone that he was in the Marines. How the fuck did he think he could pull that off as a pimple faced sophomore in high school?
