Never heard of the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Mobilization. Perhaps he meant the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device.

I can’t speak to the dates on his documents, but Haab was assigned to my (Reserve) Civil Affairs unit (415th Civil Affairs Bn, out of Kalamzoo, MI) in late 2003/early 2004.

SGT Haab went through pre-mobilization training with us in December 2003 and January 2004. He started to make leadership nervous, but still deployed with us as far as Camp Udari (now Camp Buehring), Kuwait. He’d been acquiring a lot of knives and assorted ‘tacti-cool’ gear, and went into some sort of mental meltdown in Kuwait. I wasn’t privy to the details of what happened, but I recall there was some borderline suicidal behavior that really concerned the leadership. He was sent home for mental evaluation without every setting foot in Iraq. He never returned to the unit, and we had a hell of a time getting the short-ton of PX purchases he shipped on our pallets, back to him. RUMINT told us he was out of the Army completely by the time we got back in late 2004.

He popped up on the radar when he played vigilante Border Patrol in 2005, and we quickly knew that he was a fake at that time. Since I moved to Arizona around that time, I was able to follow the case as he was established to be not a combat vet and the case was made to go away.

Interesting that he’s back in the news, but not surprising.

His DD214 looks fake. His is enlisted, but his MOS said 38 A . letter A only a signed to officers, his should say 38B.There are few other mistakes. I wonder if this whole thing is fake
