Last week, we talked about Alex Wolpert, the fellow who confronted an aging Laotian man and accused him of stolen valor. The Sacramento Bee reports that Wolpert, who claimed he was a Marine, has admitted that he was not a Marine;
Wolpert gained public notoriety after a viral video of the incident was shared on Facebook on May 13 by someone claiming they were posting it on behalf of their parents, who live in Sacramento.
“I’m a Marine, I fought for my country,” Wolpert says in the video, pointing at the elderly man. “And this m———– is going to wear that s—?”
Wolpert said he comes from a military family but admitted to lying about his status as a U.S. Marine.
“I was caught up and emotionally upset,” he said.
Poor little fella. Snake actually tracked down and verified that Wolpert’s father was in the Army. Wolpert was born at Fort Sill, Oklahoma;
Wolpert said he was currently taking classes at a rehabilitation center in light of the incident. He and his family have received death threats, he said.
They always claim that they’re getting death threats. When I see someone being arrested, I’ll believe it. There aren’t enough classes to get that BS out of Wolpert’s system.

Not exactly. When it comes to travel and pay involved with TDY, finance is involved. Operations is involved with the orders process. Getting the TDY documented, into the Soldier’s record, is a personnel function.

Yes, and that usually gets a DD 215 to reflect the added award. I know this, as this happened to me after my first release from active duty. If I were to receive my award, after release from active duty, and no accompanying DD 215 came with it, I would request one. Many veterans here would do the same.

Laughed very much out loud over the last part. No way do I need to learn military practices and if I did, this blog is not where I’d turn to do it. Yeah, this bunch of reprobates is terrific and the combined knowledge among the assembled is astounding.
Not sure just how many courses I took over my military career both in residence and by correspondence, but it was more than a couple. Every one of them included some military history, job specific instruction, and silly stuff like how to be a supervisor – every bit of it some sort of military practice.
So, no, I really don’t need any more of it now that I am retired. BTDT.

Wolpert was concerned that Laotian man was getting “free stuff” when actually the Laotian man was entitled to “free stuff” more than Wolpert being that the Laotian man was an actual veteran.
If Wolpert had an issue with a business honoring veterans and giving them freebies, he should have taken it up with the business directly.

If he can get a smart friend to take the ASVAB for him and maybe purge for a couple of weeks before his physical I don’t see why he cant go ahead and ship out to basic training and do a few weeks there.
