From Ray an incident in Athens, Georgia;

Smith was held on the ground at gunpoint by a resident until police arrived to take custody of him.

According to police, no law enforcement officers were chasing the man, who admitted to having ingested methamphetamine prior to the incident.

In Battle Creek, Michigan;

Battle Creek police said the resident found the man about 7 a.m. Friday and fired warning shots at the man as he fled from the house. Officers said the resident told them his dogs were barking about 2 a.m. and he checked the house but not the basement. Just before calling police he went to the basement and found the man.

He attempted to hold the man at gunpoint but after taking him upstairs the man fled and the homeowner fired over him and then called officers.

When legally armed citizens must confront someone who is trying to deprive them of their goods, or their life, the must be prepared for the bad guys to elevate the situation. At the first sign of a gun or a knife we should take control and protect ourselves. Getting cut or wounded in the process could be very bad for us. Just shoot, “Center Mass”, and keep control of the event.

Too bad Falkner didn’t put a couple of holes in Nichols as a reminder of what NOT TO DO!

Too much gunfire and no blood-trail. Inefficient. Send these guys out for more range time.

Ditto that.

“the man fled and the homeowner fired over him and then called officers”

Yeah those warning shots will make them stop running and put their hands up every time.

And an over eager Prosecutor could charge the shooter with reckless endangerment. Shooting at fleeing criminals is hardly ever a good idea. Yes, I know. Texas, it’s like a whole different country.

jonp

Yeah, don’t fire over anyone running away. Bad juju

Dustoff

The Salisbury NC incident occurred about two blocks from a large VA hospital. (I know the area well). the town of about 30K went from “Mayberry” when I was a kid, to basically a ghetto. The young perp with four names is a symptom of a larger problem.

Seems to be a lot of that going around these days.
