Karzai says that he doesn’t need US troops
Chief Tango sends us a link to Time which reports that Taliban spokeman, Hamid Karzai says that he doesn’t need US troops to protect his people;
Hamid Karzai signaled his defiance of the United States in his final address before the country’s parliament Saturday, claiming U.S. troops are not needed in Afghanistan as his military is ready to take over entirely.
Karzai also reiterated that he would not sign a security agreement with the United States that would allow American soldiers to stay in Afghanistan to help train and mentor Afghan troops and hunt down al-Qaeda, the Associated Press reports.
Yeah, I’m sure he won’t need US troops, because he’ll be stretched out on a beach on the Riviera or somewhere. Probably on Miami Beach.
“I want to say to all those foreign countries who maybe out of habit or because they want to interfere, that they should not interfere,” said Karzai on Saturday.
OK, so we do we have even one member of the US military in Afghanistan this morning? They should have all been on a plane within 15 minutes of Karzai’s idiot “defiance”. In fact, pull his protection detail today. that’s something they can do right now.

Reminds me of the photos from Vietnam. As soon as we left and the North moved South in strength, there were PILES and PILES of M-16s and uniforms laying everywhere, where the South Vietnamese forces dumped them and headed back to the rice paddies. The same will happen in Afghanistan. I agree with Jonn completely. We should have the last troop on the last plane out RIGHT NOW. I am so tired of this clown. Only more tired of the clown in the Oval Office who can’t take Karzai’s hint and get us the hell out of there. No Obama is set on staying, paying him to let us stay and sending more troops all the while. What the hell happened to common sense. Karzai has made it clear he does not need or want us there so let us oblige him…NOW! PLEASE! No more American blood, limbs or lives for Afghanistan.

Completely stop US participation in patrols. Pull his top cover (spooky, drones, Apaches, Dustoff, arty, and whatever serves for Tac Air), quick reaction forces, convoy security (unless it is a convoy for us), facilities security (unless it is our facility), and the intel feed. Use the troops freed up to pack up and hit the road. Mr. Karzai has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t want us there. If he speaks for Afghanistan then we should oblige him and GTFO.
Once we leave, I’m hoping its tomorrow. All The Taliban has to do, is kick in the door and the whole rotten Karzai structure will fall in.
Freedom is not easy, as the Afgan people are finding out. They are not motivated, nor are they committed. As long as they have our troops doing the majority of the bleeding and dying why put themselves in harms way?
As a nation they don’t appreciate us. More important they don’t respect us. So why stay? Even in a advisory capacity.
We’ve given them free money, free equipment, built free infrastructure. Free everything. If everything is free, how can one appreciate it?
I can recall 1971 Vietnam. We were turning over assets to the South Vietnam Military. There military rep showed up on our flight line . To pick up one of our Huey’s. Did they check the log books too see which one had the lowest time on the engine? No they picked the one with the best paint job. My point is this, they had nothing vested. Everything was free.
I say give Karzai his wish. Pullout, leave him and shithole country to their own devices. He will be squealing like a little piggy within 30 days.
