Wednesday morning feel good story
Chief Tango sends you his feel good story this morning, this time it happened in Tennessee where a good son saved his mother’s life;
Kenny Guffey said he was driving home from work around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he called is 83-year-old mother, Christine Guffey.
“We were talking probably ten minutes and then all of the sudden her voice panicked and she said, ‘What are you doing in my house, oh no, he’s got a knife. What are you doing with the knife?'” said Guffey.
Luckily, Guffey was only two minutes away from her Balsam Road home. When he got there, he went inside with his gun drawn.
“I went through the door and [Colin Patrick Lynch, 29] was standing over her with the shovel, I didn’t see the knife, it was dark in there,” said Guffey.
Guffey said the intruder used the shovel to knock his gun out of his hand. He said he then tackled the man and got his gun back while his mother called 911.
“I sat on top of him and held him down and was able to grab my gun and put it to his head and told him not to move. And I looked down saw the knife,” said Guffey.
The police arrived later and took Lynch into custody. Guffey said that his whole family got gun permits about a year ago, and he’s thankful now that he did, although he never planned on needing a gun.

The guy showed a lot of restraint. If that was me and my mother, I would have been beating the criminal, sorry I meant “suspect”, then digging a hole with the shovel to dispose of the trash.
That’s exactly what I was thinking i.e. “how convenient for him to bring a shovel with for me to bury him with”.
An observation: Why did the bad guy have a shovel?? What was he going to do with that shovel?? The same thing we were thinking of using it for, to bury someone? Yeah, I would have roughed him up some, that’s for sure.
Here-Here You can even whack me with a shovel and I might hold you down till the police arrive. But MY MAMA!!! No way. That’s an automatic beatdown and “he was struggling to get my gun and get away and screaming harms to us”, (I mean really pour it on hollywood style.) “So I had to keep whacking him with the gun to keep him passive. He was a like a crazy man!”. DON”T MESS WITH MAMA! EVER!
First, why did he let the ditch-digger-trying-to-turn-his-life-around get within melee distance when he had a nice ranged weapon? If it were me, the guy might have gotten within swinging distance, but he would have had at least one new orifice where it didn’t belong, probably more.

One never PLANS on needing a gun. But one PREPARES for the contingency.
Obviously, the intruder was a student at the Giduck School of Shovel thingy stuff.
I hope Mama is all right, and her son will insist that she take some basic self-defense training for exactly this kind of thing.
Hmmmm. I think I would’ve shot the shovel-wielding sack of offal as he approached me. My .45 JHP trumps a shovel.
Should have just shot him. Why didn’t he, instead of giving him the opportunity to knock the gun out of his hand.
If you aren’t going to use it, you may as well not carry it.
Honestly, since he didn’t fire his weapon in that circumstance, and actually was disarmed during a struggle, I’m don’t think that he needs to be carrying a gun for protection.
