Thursday feel good story

| December 26, 2013

Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories for this Thursday morning. The first is from North Carolina where a fellow tried to make himself at home in the house of a 78-year-old man who wasn’t too happy about that apparently;

The victims, a man and woman, told deputies the suspect tried to force his way into the home at gunpoint, placing a woman who lived at the home in a choke hold. They added that the woman was able to alert her husband, who confronted the suspect with a gun.

Lt. Sheila Cole with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said the male victim, described as a 78-year-old man, was airlifted to the hospital, having suffered a gunshot to his stomach.

Cole said the suspect returned fire before running from the scene and driving off in a black SUV.

Coroner Greg Shore said the possible suspect in the home invasion, Rahim Shakur, 39, of Williamston, died of gun shot wound to the chest. A SLED background check revealed Shakur had a long criminal history that spanned more than half his life, and included charges for violent crimes and drugs. A personals profile on the site PrisonerLife indicated he was released earlier this year.

FOX Carolina 21

The second story comes from California where another 78-year-old man was forced to defend his home;

The man said he heard the garage door to his house being kicked in and reached for a revolver he kept next to his bed.

Police said the man sat up, and upon seeing a flashlight shine into his room from the hall, the man feared for his life and fired one round toward the light.

The round went into the hall ceiling just outside the bedroom and police said it not appear to have struck the intruder. A witness saw two men in the area running very fast toward St. Edwards Street, police said, but after a search no one was found.

Us old guys will shoot you every time. dead. Right there.

Frankly Opinionated

“Us old guys will shoot you every time. dead. Right there.”
Damned straight, Sugar. After 73 laps around the sun, (and counting), I just don’t have the time, energy or desire to dance with the dopes. Center of mass, or, if point blank, center of face, until empty, and wait for the clean up crew.
I see no good reason for any other plan.

Even us younger guys will greet you with high-velocity lead if you try to BS us into believing you’re selling Girl Scout cookies or Avon at 4 am.

Always did like that saying. 🙂

No Anderson County North Carolina Jonn, story has to be from the Palmetto state.

Lawrence Todd

78 year old man and still defends his woman at risk of his own life. Any bets that he was a VET.

If I had a son, I would have named him Rahim Shakur.

Common Sense

Just be sure the intruder is actually an intruder. We had a man kill his 14-year-old step-daughter a couple of days ago because he thought she was an intruder when she was sneaking back into the house at 6am, horribly tragic.

This was in CO Springs and I saw elsewhere that he’s military, a 2nd Lt I think.
