Costas: The Worm Squirms
Bob Costas, is demonstrating more feints and jukes than the NFL’s best running backs and probably wishing he could have a replay of his Sunday night miss-step. In commenting on the murder/suicide of Kansas City player, Jovan Belcher, Costas, who appeared to call for stricter gun control measures in his half-time editorial, got sacked in his own backfield last night by Bill O’Reilly. Costas, whose fearful demeanor in his appearance on O’Reilly’s show, indicated that he was most likely on a corporate-called play of penance, dictated and demanded by his network masters, was far too easily trapped in his own end zone by former quarterback, O’Reilly, with a quite simple play.
Costas had earlier opinionated to another news source that the presence of a gun in the hands of any legally licensed carrier during the recent Colorado theater shooting would have made no difference in outcomes. O’Reilly then asked Costas, eyeball to eyeball, as across a third down and very short line, that if he had been in that Colorado theater, would he have preferred to drop to the floor seeking shelter from the gunfire or would he rather have been legally armed and able to stand and respond to the threat. After a few seconds of verbal ducking and weaving like the best of those NFL running backs he covers, Costas finally realized that O’Reilly had him cornered in his own end zone and admitted that had he been in that theater in Colorado, he would have gone to the floor.
What an admission from someone who feels free to pontificate to the rest of us about the evils of gun ownership. And there are many of us with whom Costas, who self-admittedly would grovel on the floor hoping someone else with more manhood and courage would save his sorry, shaking, little liberal butt, shares no cultural identity. We are the ones who would have sorted through the panic, identified the threat, and then quickly directed counter-fire upon that threat while Costas was peeing all over himself on that gosh-awful sticky theater floor.
I’m not often a fan of Bill O’Reilly but this time he scored beautifully, making this little liberal worm, Costas, squirm as he was held over the searing fires of real life truth in every-day America. What Costas must live with is that a very large percentage of the millions of Americans who watch his broadcasts will now do so with the knowledge that he’s a sniveling, diminutive coward, always dependent on better men to protect him. He must forever wonder with what contempt he is being viewed when he interviews those brave, fierce warriors who comprise the National Football League.

Well said!!
Bravo!!!!
Eloquent, Poetrooper. Very eloquent.
“We are the ones who would have sorted through the panic, identified the threat, and then quickly directed counter-fire upon that threat while Costas was peeing all over himself on that gosh-awful sticky theater floor.”
And we would have been damn glad to do it, even knowing we represent something that Costas reviles and hates.
The are sheep and there are sheepdogs willing to take on the wolves. It ain’t too difficult to tell which one Costas is.
Costas isn’t even a sheep, he’s a weasel
I saw the O’Reilly piece last night, and I don’t think he was strong enough, especially when Costas rambled on about not even having MENTIONED the Second Amendment! Yeah, so what, asshole! You certainly promoted yet more gun control (as if more than 20K laws on the books aren’t enough) and somehow spewed out a claim that 40 percent of all guns are purchased without a background check in this country. WTF!!!! O’Reilly didn’t even call him on it, and agreed in the end that Costas was somehow misunderstood.
BLECH
these friggin libtards are crashing and burning alot more frequently now. the rope is out and, it is a long one!
First, Costas seems to labor under the impression that we can go to WalMart and buy an Uzi (“automatic weapons” that he equated to “artillery”) Taking it a step further, Costas didn’t seem to understand (and it’s a shame that O’Reilly didn’t mention it) that the theater didn’t allow weapons in their facility.
So, when Costas said “you’re going to have many armed people, and Colorado happens to be a “right to carry” state…. and in Colorado, you would have been allowed to.” (In response to his “I’d rather cower than fire” position) he failed to grasp that guns WERE NOT ALLOWED IN THE THEATER.
There were, as I understand it, posted signs to that effect.
And the theater’s right to keep their customers disarmed supersedes the right to carry because if you find that policy objectionable, you don’t have to go to their theater.
I, personally, don’t care about such signs on private property: I don’t even go to church without my .45. But for those victims in the theater there’s a fact as inescapable as the idiocy Costas spouted concerning gun availability as a proximate cause for this clown killing his girlfriend and then himself:
Had the dillwad who killed those people in the theater not known in advance that he would be facing a completely unarmed group… had even the possibility that one or more in the theater been carrying… would that have increased or decreased the likelihood of this happening?
Like mass school killings where the killers KNOW no one else is armed… does the possibility of an armed response to this kind of slaughter act as a deterrent to these nutjobs?
I dunno…. when was the last time there was a mass killing at a gun show?
Maybe one of those NFL Gladiators will step on the little worm when he asks them a stupid fucking question as he is prone to do!
It is also my belief that most of us (On this Site) armed or not would move in the direction of danger, trying to eliminate it. So he is an even bigger worm than he or we thought. His next topic will be how bad food makes you short and should not be eaten.
Big Bravo Mike for Him!!!!!!
So basically Costa just admitted he’s not a man…
what do you bet that this scumbag will be co-hosting with chrissy matthews?
My man OJ used a knife. It’s about domestic violence.
“Yes it’s true. This man has no dick.” DR Peter Venkman
Is it bitter irony that Costas’ former co-host O.J. Simpson used a knife to butcher two people?
Wow. So I just watched that misleading and lying display Costas passed on The Factor by Oreilly which clueless about firearms as well. Your basic CCW/CPL owner could have destroyed Costas’ lies on the spot but that is another story. “Artillery” and “bazookas” the lying of the left to drum up hysteria on why constitutional rights should be restricted and those who wish to use them have their motives questioned as though it’s a bad thing. Costas is a grade A Libtard and if there was any question of whether he is anti 2nd amendment there isn’t any longer regardless of his flat out lie of his “support” for the 2nd amendment.
How’d you like to walk into NBC studios and see Costas making his way to the men’s room. “Hey Bob! Other door!”
(Nice work Poetrooper.)
I watched it last night … and heard it today on Bernie’s Debrief after Imus … I think I will YouTuber it right now for the third time it is so good!
Bill is his own sniper’s perch … not a small guy 6 foot + whatever … probably has big ass hands … I recommend Sig P-220 (that is the 45 for those scoring at home).
Great writing above …. BZ Poetrooper!
@9
And that’s the point some people don’t get. That massacre was a perfect foretelling of what happens when a populace is not permitted to carry their weapons. The “good” folks, the ones you don’t have to worry about, followed the rules. The bad guy, didn’t follow the rules, and killed them for following the rules.
Despite the sensationalism, dying in a handgun death is relatively uncommon. It’s more likely that you’ll die of a motor vehicle accident than by firearm (33,687 vs 31347 in 2010). Let’s outlaw all cars.
O’Reilly isn’t the best guy to go for defending firearms as well.
Clearly, what this country needs is regulations and background checks before anyone is allowed to exercise First Amendment rights.
@ #18: Air Cav, I know lots of women who’d charge a criminal bare-handed. You either need to leave the misogyny at the door, or hang out with a better class of female. I suggest… both.
@23 Hey, was that an invitation for retaliation or a joke?
@23. Now that I’ve learned all I care to about you, I can conclude it was no joke. I know that you are an extremely busy fellow, popping off all over the country (and even GB) in comment sections where guns are the topic. A one trick pony, eh? Well, if you do return tonight, write this out backwards on masking tape and paste it to your head: “I must stop jumping to conclusions and I must brush my teeth more often.”
AirCav hangs out with the best ladies on the planet.
Get over yourself, PP.
@26. I’m guessing he won’t get it–but you are right.
He never actually said that; he all BUT said that by saying that he wouldn’t want a gun in that situation. He was trying to punch out of the corner that Oreilly had him backed in to without looking like a coward but failed miserably
Oh THAT PavePusher. I got that little fella pegged now. I figured he had learned a new word when he used misogyny and wrongly applied it to me. So, I Googled that word and PavePusher together and the hits just kept on coming. Among them–one in which he did not use that word– was this gem from the Daily Kos last August:
“Remember, the U.S. now has a significant number of Citizens with a doctorate-level degree in practical insurgence, currently masquerading as Civilians (AKA “veterans”). You (and I, to a somewhat lesser degree) are in that group.”
Nicki – yes, probably at least 40% of gun sales occur without background checks. It’s called private sales… like almost any other private transaction, no government oversight is required or desired. That’s also the so-called ‘gun-show loophole’ – private individuals don’t have to request governmental permissin to sell their own private property.Just likie you don’t have to ask the cops if Joe Blow can buy your car (which he may conceivably misuse.)
Yo, his former co-anchor didn’t need a gun! Go O.J.!
David, I seriously doubt that number is 40 percent. That number comes from Michael Bloomberg, and is automatically suspect. Every FFL must perform a background check. I doubt 40 percent of gun owners buy firearms privately, although given the current administration, I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of private purchases has increased. Bureau of Justice Statistics reports indicate that only about 2 percent of guns used in crimes were purchased from “unlicensed” dealers in pawnshops, flea markets, etc. so I can’t imagine the number is that high (unless you include illegal acquisitions such as straw purchases or theft)
Nicki- Maybe I run in different circles, but I see a LOT of guns privately bought and sold…. not in a bad way, but among collectors and shooters, private sales are very common. Can’t tell you how many tinmes “if you ever want to sell that, give me a call” is used at the range. I’m sure Bloomberg thinks it is a perjorative statistic, but it’s probably right. Note that that DoJ stat is “used in crimes” – most gun owners don’t commit crimes.
Too bad you weren’t in that theater Poetrooper the world be less one awful turd.
David, it is correct that most gun owners don’t commit crimes. However, my sense is that Bloomberg is including illegally-purchased guns in his 40 percent scenario. I would submit that anecdotal evidence, no matter how compelling, doesn’t tell the whole story. Heck, I’ve bought pistols from private persons myself, but at the same time I’ve bought more from gun dealers! Even PolitiFact wasn’t sure about this claim, because there’s little information out there about private purchases, and it’s nearly impossible to really discern. Tracked firearms purchases have been on the rise for a while, meaning that FFLs are doing robust business. I can’t imagine that would be the case with nearly half the guns sold between private individuals.
Gal-fan: what a predictably pathetic and typically immature liberal response, wishing violence and death on someone simply because you disagree with them.
“At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child – miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.” – P.J. O’Rourke
@#37, nicely done, Poetrooper. As soon as Gallagher Fan gets someone to explain the big words(more than 3 letters) to him, he’ll get right back to you.
Don’t take such offense Poetrooper, I was merely opining that surely someone with your grit would’ve ended the threat promprly with well-aimed shots, and that cretin Holmes would be dead. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Gal-fan: then I retract my comments as directed toward you. It was very easy to read your original comment as being aimed at ol’ Poetrooper who is admittedly a bit of a grouch; or irascible as one doctor called me.
Waiting for Costas to offer commentary on NFL players driving drunk.
