I am not sure if you understand the meaning of that word. (Updated)
Ok our friends over at Stolen Valor have reporting about a company calling themselves“Veteran Clothing”. Well the main problem is that there is nothing about the company that is military.
Veteran Clothing is a new line of clothing started by a guy named Billy Truong, out of San Diego, California. Several fans brought it to our attention yesterday, at first glance you immediately think this company is either Veteran owned/operated or they at least donate to Veterans groups. Well come to find out, neither of the above is true. But we believe their title and their slogan are very misleading, and tried several times to explain that to them. But they would not listen to what we had to say. In our humble opinion they knew exactly what they were doing when they started using this name and slogan, they are using it for their own personal gain.
When asked if he was a Veteran of the Military he said that he was a Veteran, just not a military Veteran. Then what is he a Veteran of? Why business and dance of course. He claims that he will start giving portions of the earnings to real military groups but I am not holding my breath.
But I am sure he wondering why people were thinking that his company was operated by Veterans, i mean it is a real mystery. Or why people are upset for some strange reason.
But according to Stolen Valor that this company may be working to make amends for continue their actions.
We have been told that the company will hold a meeting tonight to discuss changing up their slogans etc. We will let you know what comes out of it. We ask that everyone cease contacting them at this point until they reach a decision.
We shall see.
Update:Cameron let us know that the site has issues a letter of non-apology and intent for their business. Oh and it seems that if you “old Veterans” are upset about them using the word Veteran in their company that you are immature and to leave their website immediately.
VETERAN is about experience and being original. Your Own Boss. You’ve been in the game for infinite years. Everyone Respects You. No more fancy handshakes, stay Saluting. Remember, you can be a Veteran in anything.
Yea I think they have officially crossed the threshold and into douchbaggery. I was not sure at first but not at all now.
UPDATE 2: The Duffly Blog has already made a parody story that you can read here.
UPDATE 3: Another video from them and another write up by US Infantry.
Fucking Turds and bottom feeders.
“Anyone can be a Veteran…” FUCK THIS HOSER!
They’ve added a “Letter of Apology and Intent” to the FB page.
Seems appropriate: http://i2.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/010/692/19789999.jpg
Truong is a Vietnamese name. Maybe he’s a VC veteran? An ex-paddy daddy? A trucker on the Ho Chi Minh trail?
I thought it was illegal to use the American flag for merchandizing. It’s probably still in the US Code but one of those statutes that the chief executive has deemed unconstitutional. Either that or it’s another one of those laws that he has opted not to enforce. As for the company, I wish them rapid failure.
@SIGO: ROFLMAO!
Check out their facebook now… full of coddling and “oh you are ok and so sweet and your are trying so hard” comments on their latest post.
The Immutable Law of Unintended Consequences strikes again.
They thought they could get away with sneaky shit, we let them know otherwise.
They seem to be not just doubling down on stupid, but tripling down given their latest postings and insults. So, I say quadruple down on spreading the word about the company and those within to every VSO, veteran, etc. They might be surprised how many providers they depend on, from fabric to printing to transportation, might be “old veterans” who don’t care to do business with them.
Agreed. They not only are they deleting comments, making their fan page semi-private (you can only comment if you “like” their page, and cussing out the true veterans of the US. I want this nerd to die in a fire. BTW, their “appology” was them essentially saying that they won’t change a damn thing.
One thing not in their favor is selling a purple heart shirt… according to federal law(as pointed out by someone on their page), you must gain approval from the Dept of the Army to sell anything with the Purple heart on it. Unless they have the paperwork for the Heraldry Department they are wrong.
They can call their company whatever they want, but they are about as honest as your typical congressman for life. They only care about making a profit.
I just reviewed their Facebook and website (veteranclothing.com). This company needs to be shut down.
Their cover page photo on the Facebook shows a jackoff attempting a salute (clearly for commercial purposes only). The tee shirt says, “Salute Me”. He is standing on what seems to be a Navy ship, saluting (as if he was in the British Navy), tilting to port (because a proper salute is so difficult to do), and generally looking like a class “A” clown.

The web site shows an equally jackedoff moron giving a good ole’ Brit salute in a cemetary. Are your fuc*in kidding me?
http://veteranclothing.com/
Here is a message for Billy Truong and his staff (children) of veteransclothing.com: The simple military salute is rendered without promopting, notice, or direct order. It is rendered out of respect ones rank, position, and/or as an honor. Never have I been ordered by one to salute another.
Condemnation starts here!
[…] Also our friends over at Thisainthell are none to happy with this sort of douchebaggery, so it seems to me that the overwhelming majority find this wrong. Well except for the few threats I have received in my email, which I AM sure came from someone within their company according to the IP Address. Check out the write up over at our Comrades page. I went ahead and e-mailed them myself after seeing their crappy website.
What a bunch of B.S.
I wonder if my local news might be interested in this.
Job done ….. no investors will touch this cancer!
According to Guardians of Valor, he owns a Veterans Entertainment company and website. I went to that site, and it’s hosted by Go Daddy, and no longer a valid site, he took it down.
Yeah, nothing to do with the Military /sarc. So why the salutes?

Truong is only 18 or 19 years old. The only thing he is a veteran of is yanking his crank
Are you fucking kidding me, that “appology letter” is shit.
That guy needs to shut his cock holster and crawl back under the rock he came from
This bunch is no better than Soulja Boy. They’re being flippant and disrespectful to MILITARY VETERANS (and that’s the only place I recognize that term.)
These idiots are in San Diego? What’s with the barely-literate Engrish then? The FB comments are awesome!
BTW, I should have expected that the Duffel Blog is already all over this:

Hopefully Mr. Truong is learning a valuable lesson in business ethics…
These douches need to be monkey stomped….
The comments on his facebook page makes me chuckle.
Veteran of business and dance? Why not call it Ballerina Veteran Clothing then?
This little turd is full of sh1t and he knows it, he just figures he’s smarter than everyone else thus the non-apology and smart-ass definitions…
Too bad for him every body else knows he’s full of sh1t too…here’s hoping the little b4stard joins the 60-90% of new businesses that fail in the first 3 years…
Hey Spork, what do you suppose he means about “Old Veterans”? What about us, the non-old Veterans?
Here is what I wrote to their company:
Please cease and desist with the use of the term Veteran. You have the wrong definition of the word, and are immorally attempting to profit from the actual term, which, by Federal definition, is someone, such as my cousins or myself, who are actual Veterans, actually serving our country, in Iraq and Afghanistan, one whom serves their country, during a time of war. You have absolutely NOT earned the title, and you need to change your name, and get rid of the salute and Purple Heart apparel. What your company is doing is wrong, on many, many levels, starting with morally, and ending with stealing valor. Rest assured, when a new Stolen Valor Act is voted into law, you will be recommended for FEDERAL charges by quite a few ACTUAL VETERANS, will be prosecuted, fined, AND YOU WILL SERVE TIME IN PRISON.
With as little respect as humanly possible,
An ACTUAL VETERAN of OEF and OIF
You’ve been in the game for infinite years
Infinite years?
Maybe they just don’t speak English and got “Veteran” after running some text through an internet translator.
Kinda reminds me of Nova Sosa or whatever the hell his name was.
no matter how many times they say “you can be a veteran in anything” it wont change the fact that they used military images to make “their” design…and really? calling the vets “immature”? bunch of fucktards who obviously had way tooooo many drugs in their blood stream…i say get the police to raid one of their parties full of alchohol and minors under 18.
We have set up an interview of a local Veteran in San Diego with the local news station. He will be interviewed tonight on how he feels about the Clothing Line along with the other Combat Veterans in his MMA gym…should be good.
Well, the MOPH is aware of them, and word is that the IoH has been advised as well. Hope they get lots and lots of publicity, and that more and more shun them and refuse to do business with them or any who do business with them.
went to his FB page and he has a “Gen-u-wine” Vet there… He has a Pic of good ole Ballduster McSoulpatch in his albums!
Went to their facebook page. Mixed feelings on this topic, and they range between rage and disbelief. Where did America go so wrong that we can raise people like these. Stolen Valor act unconstitutional, but profiteering and fraud is good to go? No justice for veterans.
This wanker really wants to go there? A veteran at dancing???? WTF!! Happy feet needs a class or two about not pissing off large groups of buyers… LIKE REAL VETERANS! What kind of special needs kid calls us immature and pretty much tells us to screw off? He is definitely trying to make a buck off us and telling us to kiss his ass at the same time. I say lets get em hooah. (No offence special needs kids… I dont mean to push this POG off on your crew, its just an expression.)
Eventually he’ll come to the realization that the saying “Haters Make Me Famous” isn’t meant for everyone. I want to see this kid and teach him some life lessons.
The “Old Veterans” and Purple Heart shirt especially piss me off. My best friend from high school lost his leg at 20 to a mortar round, and a soldier in my unit came home early from our last deployment to Iraq with a serious TBI at 19.
If this kid would like to talk to said veterans, I would gladly set something up.
Billy Truong and his clothing company members have been tromping around in Purple Heart shirts, saluting, and posing in “vet” shirts at military monuments. Most of us former military combat arms members have friends or teammates who’ve earned that purple heart. Some are not here with us today. Veteran Clothing company folks seem to think it means nothing. These guy really tweak me.
