Matthis still in your school talking to your kids
In an article posted today on the “We Are Not Your Soldiers” website, Matthis brags about how he converted some students to his anti-recruiter campaign in Manhattan earlier;
Matthis, explained that recruiters will prey on the youth, as young as it takes to get them interested in joining the “delayed entry program” so that by the time they graduate high school, they are taken off to basic training. At basic training young children are taught tactics to de-humanize the “enemy”, who, at this point in history, are the Muslim population around the world.
The students were fascinated by the discussion, and many had decided to wear the “We Are not Your Soldiers” bandanas, and to confront the recruiters when they approach them. They also decided to form a student group that will plan to keep recruiters out of the school, and away from their friends.
Talk about instilling irrational fears. It’s not like the military kidnaps children off the street. Or drive a paddy wagon up to the high school graduation ceremonies and force the newly-minted graduates off to far-away basic training centers.
I never saw “young children” when I was at basic training. I saw young men – probably because old men make poor soldiers. The military doesn’t want you if you don’t want to be there. And I’d like to know how we were “taught tactics to dehumanize the enemy”.
My impression is that this program lies a damn sight more than any recruiting battalion ever could lie.
Thanks to one of my ninjas for the link.

By “young children”; does he mean the “young children that can vote, move out of the house, get a job, go to college, etc.? Those “young children”?
A friend of mine had a daughter (about 13 y.o. at the time) come home one day and announce that she was now a vegetarian and would never eat meat again. (This child had, up until that point, been a fixture around the grill at all the family barbegues.) On closer examination, it was learned that an animal-rights activist had been invited to the school to talk with the kids, and – you guessed it – had shown gruesome, slaughterhouse photos to all the children. As you may imagine, the school heard from numerous parents about this “education” their children received!
This is the same thing. And should be treated as such!
And yet it’s amazing how readily kids (and parents) will believe anything bad about the military based on the words of an admitted rapist.
Oh, and Mathis? As one of those “evil” recruiters, I didn’t waste much of my time on kids who were “as young as it takes” because I was too busy talking to HS seniors and recent graduates, because I didn’t want the Chief Recruiter crawling up my asshole for missing goal.
In fact, I didn’t seriously start talking to 11S (HS Seniors) until their second semester, because the longer a kid is in DEP, the more likely they are to attrite, which has to be made up.
The NRD statistician and I sat down and figured it out…for every 3 months in DEP, the attrite rate roughly doubles, from about 2 percent for 0-3 months, to 15-16 percent for those kids in 9-12 months.
Would it not be illegal for Matthis to actively hinder or interrupt military recruiting efforts? I seem to recall that as part of federal law, it is a felony to interfere with recruiters during time of war. That is exactly what this shitbag is doing.
USMC Steve,
Matthis and those like him use the 1st Amendment as their shield and sword.
Four rhetorical questions:
1. Why are we on defense where it concerns anti-recruiting efforts?
2. The best defense is an overwhelming offense. Why are we scared of being offensive?
3. Why don’t recruiters provide a class on how recruiting works, from initial contact to graduation from Basic?
4. Why not tell a kid who’s joined the anti-America gange s/he’s not good enough to join the military? Service is a privilige and the kids need that door slammed shut to wake up.
Our recruiters are outstanding NCO for the most part. Ceding the battlefield to the likes of Matthis is a worrisome symptom.
For many people, including myself, the military was a means of paying for my college loans. Apparently, this also helped Matthis since he is hypocritically continuing to use his GI Bill benefits. The gall for someone to accept these benefits while presenting a completely skewed and outrageous one-sided account of the military. Why go and try to deny a student of even considering the option of military service and the opportunity for getting their own college paid for.
To me, this guy is a dingbat not for what he says (although there are words for what he says too), but for the fact that he is 1)hypocritical and 2) is too afraid to go to one of these classes with an actual military vet who supports the military and its servicemembers.
Just as he accuses (wrongly) recruiters of preying on the young, he is actually doing the same thing, but under the guise of telling the “truth” as an “Afghanistan war veteran.”
Although this has been covered before I wish to extend my family’s apology to all veterans, especially those who have served under fire, for my son’s continued activities. Allowing himself to be referred to as an Afghanistan veteran without immediately correcting the record, and referring to his Afghanistan deployment in such a manner as to allow the incorrect impression of having been a combat veteran is deplorable and an act of stolen valor by ommission. My son has confessed to a brutal rape and has yet to atone for this and many other things he has done. His Father loves him but is profoundly sad and disappointed. Galatians 6:7
My prayers go out to you and your son, Robert, in the hope that he sees the error of his ways and the pain he’s visited on your family and others.
Rob, many people have loved your son because it’s in their power to do so, and he’s repeatedly shunned that love to pursue a self-serving agenda that grows stronger by the day. I wish I could blame it on the drugs or some other external factor, which would make it a hell of a lot easier, but the truth is that Matthis needs internal help. That “suffering” he keeps referring to is of his own making and not anyone else’s, and the sad part is that it will be nearly impossible for him to allow anyone close enough to be able to show him that because he is so scared. The fear shows in his eyes, and instead of mastering it, he transforms it into something very negative, very chaotic, and very detrimental to society, especially due to the impression that he leaves on children and the disrespect that he teaches them. Rob, Matthis needs psychological help and someone he can trust on a very deep level because his problems with himself run deeper than most of us can imagine. I know it’s easy to get angry at him and call him foul names. God knows how many times I’ve done it in the past because of my own inability to cope with his actions and get through to him. The truth is that Matthis won’t be able to reach out for help from anyone else until he learns to trust… himself and others. But he’s digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole. His narcissistic nature is difficult enough, but the repetitive lying and omission of facts shows that if her were to look at his true self, he would be so severely ashamed and disappointed that it would almost be unbearable. He hides from the truth, in the name of it. And that is tragic. Once again, the best of luck to you and your family.
