Shocker: PETA totally doesn’t get it
I love PETA. I used to run into Ms Ingrid (their leader) down in VA Beach all the time. Loved to screw with her when the circus came to town. In a Foxnews article entitled Army to Shoot Live Pigs to Save Wounded Soldiers Lives:
The Army says it’s critical to saving the lives of wounded soldiers. Animal-rights activists call the training cruel and outdated.
Despite opposition by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the Army is moving forward with its plan to shoot live pigs and treat their gunshot wounds in a medical trauma exercise Friday at Schofield Barracks for soldiers headed to Iraq.
Maj. Derrick Cheng, spokesman for the 25th Infantry Division, said the training is being conducted under a U.S. Department of Agriculture license and the careful supervision of veterinarians and a military Animal Care and Use Committee.
“It’s to teach Army personnel how to manage critically injured patients within the first few hours of their injury,” Cheng said.
I always heard how they do the same thing during the Q course for SF. (Jonn?) Anyway, it seems like a good program. PETA suggests using dummies, but come on, this is far better because you have a wailing pig thrashing around etc, much closer replication. But my favorite part of this article is this:
“There’s absolutely no reason why they have to shoot live pigs,” PETA spokeswoman Holly Beal said. The bloody exercise, she said, is difficult for soldiers because they sometimes associate the animals with their own pet dogs.
So, it’s hard because of their pet dogs? Hey dipshit, how traumatic do you think it is treating your buddy, your brother or sister, who just got hit by some jihadi asshat? I never was a medic and never wanted to be, but I’m thinking treating a guy you lived in a B-Hut with for a year might be emotionally tougher than a pig. But, call me crazy.
Jonn added: The medics at the Q course used to, a long, long time ago, have a place called the Goat Farm where they practiced treating gut-shot goats. But I never witnessed it myself, I only heard rumors. But I hate pigs and their stench so they probably deserve to be shot.

Note to PETA: A pet dog doesn’t come close to a pig.
I belong to another PETA: People who Eat Tasty Animals. After their done using the pig for medical training, they should process it for cured ham.
I don’t hate pigs, but I love our troops and if this helps them, good-by pig. If they shouldn’t use pigs, maybe they could round up some PETA volunteers? I’ve heard they’re very close to human so they would make good dummies and I know I certainly wouldn’t associate them with my pet dog.
At my medical school I am also earning my Masters in Anatomy degree. One of the required courses for the degree is surgical anatomy, whereby we used to perform surgery on live, anesthetized animals….Animal rights groups shut the program down. Instead, the animals will just be put to sleep at the pound, like all the rest.
Guess I’m the holdout for wanting to use PETA dummies.
Yes! I stand with Raoul. Use volunteers from PETA. They’re closer than pig to actual human beings. And nobody will miss them either.
Is this news? Haven’t we been doing this for ages? I remember buddies of mine talking about this thing last year. Or is it just new to Hawaii?
