79-year-old landlord fatally shot naked trespasser who was attacking tenant, police say

LOS ANGELES (KCAL/KCBS) – It’s difficult to make out exactly what the naked man was saying in the surveillance video, but it’s clear to see what happens next.He picks up what looks like street signs while screaming, then suddenly runs across Tujunga Avenue in Los Angeles.
“He just was walking up and down the sidewalk. Then he saw the gate was open and ran over there in their gate,” one witness described.
Neighbors say they heard screaming, which turned into gunfire.
“Multiple gunshots. I couldn’t tell specifically. I could tell it was very close to my bedroom,” Robert Mendoza said.
Mendoza lives in the complex where Los Angeles police say the naked man broke into the home of a woman who was alone and started screaming.
Police say her 79-year-old landlord, a Vietnam War veteran, came running to help.
“He tells the suspect to leave, warns him that he has a gun,” Los Angeles Police Capt. Warner Castillo said. “Grabs the 79-year-old man and lifts him up and throws him on the ground.”
Police say the landlord suffered two broken legs, but still had the strength to keep fighting before shooting the suspect three times, killing him.

While investigators work to piece together why the suspect came here, Mendoza says there’s been issues in the past, often tied to unhoused individuals, and says something needs to change.“I saw everything almost first hand and it’s really kind of scary and the safety of the public,” Mendoza said. “This is bound to happen, something like this.”

I guess if he survived VietNam, this must have been like old times, out of practice, but not forgotten.
It’s a wonder he can walk anywhere without a wheelbarrow to carry his BBBs. CLANK CLANK!!
The city and state should pay for this vet’s full medical stay and recovery (plus a full box of ammo of his choice). Expensive? Yes. But a hell of a lot less expensive then taking Mr Homeless Drug Addict through the medical, judicial, and penal system (with appeals).
I hope his community is supporting him and helping him while he is convalescing with his serious injuries. In some places he would get the key to the city. In Los Angeles he is lucky not to be legally harassed.
I’ll admire the lovely Ms Thang from a distance. That scope looks more like a telescope used to look at the planets.

It means so much more when you can deliver ballistic justice upon miscreants who have some sort of psycho-sexual exogenetical expositional desire to engage in a form of exponential exposure of their sexual prowess that it would be of benefit to not see such an exhibition of the aura of hedonism, or indeed the example of the expression of such things as the expossitional expression of the libido in excess of the gestational limits that it would be considered to be a matter of…..

BZ Vet, so in a couple of weeks I’ll be 80 and then I can say, when I was 79, I was your age. I Always get a chuckle from women with new borns when I do my routine, I ask them how old their baby is. gets a chuckle all the time…
