Nicholasville Police: Man Who Shot Two People, Killing One, Will Not Face Immediate Charges
Shooting on Edgewood Drive
According to the Nicholasville Police Department, officers responded around 9:30 a.m. Thursday to an apartment building on Edgewood Drive, where they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.Investigators identified the deceased victim as James Milton, 31, who had been shot at least twice in the chest, and his mother, Samantha Milton, 54, who sustained a gunshot wound to her arm. Both were transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where James Milton was later pronounced dead. Samantha Milton was treated and released.
Shooter Cooperated With Police
Police identified the shooter as Raekwon Scott, 24, who remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators.A preliminary investigation indicates that the confrontation began after Milton saw his girlfriend enter Scott’s apartment. According to police, Milton attempted to break down the door while armed with a handgun, and Scott fired in response.
Investigators believe Milton’s mother was inadvertently struck during the exchange.

I’d never bring my mother to a gunfight.
She’d just tell me how I was doing it wrong.
Mom was a pretty dang good shot with a pistol. Preferred a 12 gage double.
After she passed, we found her old shotgun in the closet, and pairs of shells, stashed everywhere, in her room. Apparently her fading memory prevented remembering where she stashed the ammo, so she put a pair of buckshot shells everywhere she was likely to look.
