President Trump greenlights troops for Portland, supports ‘full force’
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to announce his response to a request for troops at Portland, Oregon. Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, requested troops to support ICE operations in response to anti-ICE protests. Trump announced that he had directed Pete Hegseth, Secretary of War, to provide the troops needed to stabilize the situation. Trump authorized “full force” if necessary.

President Donald Trump announced Saturday morning that he plans to send troops to Portland, Oregon, amid ongoing anti-ICE protests in the blue city.
“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Saturday morning.
“I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added.
Protests have flared in the city since June, and city officials put a land use violation notice on an ICE facility to dispute how long detainees can be held there, as well as another violation for boarded-up windows.
Anti-ICE graffiti has been scrawled on the outside of the building, and the demonstrations have become violent at times between protesters and federal agents, prompting authorities to use rubber bullets, tear gas and flash bangs to break up the crowds.
Protesters in August were also caught on camera displaying a guillotine and clashing with police before law enforcement fired munitions to get the crowd to disperse.

Fun facts, years ago The Oregon Democratic Party gerrymandered 4 out of 6 of their congressional districts to have a piece of Portland so now all congress critters are from the Portland area except for District 2 where they dumped all the right wingers. District 2 is 2/3 of the state and where all non crazy people live.
That is the part that wants secede and join Idaho. They have some of the lowest crime in the US in that area.

I get a kick out of the news people and politicians who say the guard isn’t trained for this. Based on what I remember from my time in the MPs (a lot of guardsmen are MPs), and my brother’s time in the Maryland National Guard, fighting riots in Baltimore in the late 60s, that is exactly what the guard is trained for. Plus, many of those guardsmen are police officers in civilian life.
