Didn’t get that sucking doorknobs, now
I screwed up. I saw an article in which Jasmine Crockett, the loudmouthed South Dallas rep, said she would leave the country in sympathy with someone I don’t recall – and I failed to bookmark it. Funny thing, repeated searches fail to bring the article back. It struck me because the ‘Comments’ section was so uniform – EVERY one of the first several pages of comments basically said “Don’t let the border hit ya in the butt, lady.”
But I was intrigued by a comment one of our own made a few days back, that for all the trash-talking street image she likes to convey, that she is a child of privilege (h/t to whomever) – he was right, and in spades. (Can I say that anymore?) From her own Wikipedia page, which one assumes is monitored heavily by her own folks:
Crockett was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Joseph and Gwen Crockett. She attended Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School and Rosati-Kain, an all-girls Catholic high school in St. Louis. Wiki
Knew folks at both schools, and in those days those were probably THE most prestigious schools in the city. Their student bodies were pretty much a Who’s Who of both old and nouveau riche, and included the scions of brokerage owners, MIC founders, notables – not that there is anything wrong with that, just that the schools were at that point VERY upper-crusty. (In fairness, stupid people did not last – perhaps that explains the different high school. But street? Hardly.) I know at least one State Supreme Court Justice who graduated from the girl’s side and the late great Vincent Price graduated from the boy’s side. Ghetto? Only the upper-class kind…
She did say recently she was not going to run for President. How… disappointing.
Then there’s AOC. Buck-toothed Sandy likes to come across as Sandy From Tha Hood, a Brooklyn girl, right? Well, Matt Slater (a GOP NY State Rep) was a high school classmate of hers.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s image as a tough Bronx native is being challenged by a New York lawmaker who revealed photos of her in his high school yearbook from Yorktown Heights, a suburb nearly an hour outside New York City.
…In the post, Slater claimed he and the rising Democratic star attended Yorktown High School at the same time when she was a freshman and he was a senior.
“Everybody in our community knows this is just a bold-face lie,” said Slater on “Fox & Friends First” Friday. “She grew up in Yorktown, she was on my track team.” Fox News
Actual facts? While she was born in Brooklyn, her family moved to the ‘burbs when she was 5. Guess she picked up that street toughness in nursery school?
And then there’s Kamala Harris, who has been musing aloud that she might want to be California Governor (as Newsom’s successor when he presumably becomes President?) There may be people enthused about HIS bid, but hers? Politico reports she could run…but no one is excited about it.
“In interviews, several major donors in the state told POLITICO they fear her reemergence as a candidate would re-open still-fresh wounds from her defeat in 2024,” the outlet reported. “Some harbor lingering frustration about how her billion-dollar campaign juggernaut ended in debt and want assurances she would have a clear plan to win the governor’s mansion.”
The donor who declared that “no one is incredibly pumped” about Harris’ run also shared that donors “realize it’s just going to bring up the whole pathetic last presidential, which no one wants to hear about again. And then it’s the whole ‘Did you know Joe Biden?’ thing.” Fox News II
THAT’S the kind of enthusiasm a candidate wants to hear.
Closing: Rap artist Azealia Bankshas cancelled two UK events because of non-stop pressure from the promoters for her to spout pro-Palestine slogans while she performs.
“So guys, I am cancelling Boomtown and Maiden Voyage, the promoters have been stressing me out for weeks trying to force me to say free Palestine and threatening to cut me from the bill because I won’t say free Palestine and I’m not dealing with the threats and I’m not putting on a f—— hijab,” she wrote.
“They’re both basically trying to extort me – by insinuating that I need to say I support Palestine or they will drop me from the gig BUT I would much rather drop them and not associate with anything that has cheap group think b——- attached to it.”

AOC always claims to be a Bronx girl, not a Brooklyn goil, but no matter, it’s all a lie.
I grew up in Tarrytown, about 15 miles from the NYC border and had many relatives in the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn. Never in my wildest imaginationwould I have claimed to be a Bronx or whatever boy.
I have to say, though, there is nothing more fucking annoying than some NYC resident hearing I am from Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow and, dripping with sarcasm, saying “Oh. Da country!” Fuck you, bub. I spent plenty of time in “Da City”. Just cause I didn’t go to a school that was all numbers doesn’t make me someone who can’t claim to be a “New Yawker”. Glad I left the place, frankly, many moons ago.
I grew up in the DC Area, at closest we lived less than a mile from the border, farthest was about 20. I would never claim to be from DC even though I spent a lot of time there, including working there. But definitely from the DC Area.
When I was growing up the Redskins played at RFK, the DEI team now plays in Maryland and seldom goes to the city. They even called themselves “the Washington Football Team”. However the DEI team is a good expression for how politics work and so having them play in Maryland is actually fitting
The Washington Football Team should have gone with The Washington Insiders.

Long week, first drink in four days. Doing better. Apparently, I have a high pain tolerance, All the pain experts and the students came to talk with me about how I was out doing yard work and stuff for four days before driving myself to the ER, instead collapsed and calling an ambulance.
