HOUSTON — A deputy constable was shot outside the Harris County family law center in downtown Houston on Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Deputy Sheila Jones was rushed to the Texas Medical Center for treatment. She’s expected to be OK.

The incident started around 12:20 p.m. when authorities got reports of a man with a gun walking from a location on Caroline Street toward the Harris County Family Law Center on Congress Street.

A deputy saw the man and started chasing him down Congress. More law enforcement officers also spotted the suspect, and a shootout broke out in the plaza in front of the building. Authorities said they believe at least four officers opened fire. A witness reported hearing 15-20 shots.

Jones and the suspect were both shot. No other injuries were reported.

Video from an attorney who witnessed the shooting showed the tense incident. Johari Burnette said Jones acted swiftly and bravely.

Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen said he believes Jones’ bulletproof vest likely saved her from serious internal injuries. She told him that she felt heat on the upper part of her left rib cage after being shot.

Authorities said the suspect was carrying two guns. They said he was believed to be in his 30s, but his identity was not released. A motive for the shooting is unknown.

Jones has worked in law enforcement for 30 years, spending the last two with the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office. She’s an Army veteran and her son works for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, according to authorities.

Man shot after allegedly trying to break into ex-girlfriend’s East Nashville home

by: Alicia Patton
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) —A man was shot Monday evening after he allegedly tried to break into a residence in the Cayce homes area of East Nashville.

According to Metro Dispatch, officers were sent to the 600 block of South 7th Street at approximately 6:14 p.m. to respond to reports of a shooting.

A neighbor reportedly called 911 stating that she saw a woman shoot a man who was attempting to break into a home.

Detectives later learned that the woman, who left before police arrived, had an order of protection against her ex-boyfriend and shot him as he was attempting to break in.

The ex-boyfriend was found on the porch of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, police said. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

Officials said the ex-boyfriend—who has not been identified—will be booked for outstanding warrants following his release from the hospital.

Metro police said a self-defense claim is being investigated. No additional information was immediately released.

Protective orders mean you never have to say you’re sorry. Thanks, Gun Bunny.

Good job by Constable Deputy Sheila Jones and her fellow LEOs. Prayers for rapid and full recovery.

While openly carrying is fine in Texas, even in Houston, that area of town is full of courthouses and similar buildings where firearms are verboten. The perp was evidently giving off all the wrong signals just to get called on.

Glad the Nashville lady realized that a protective order is just a piece of paper, and armed herself. Might need more range time, though, if ex-boyfriend lives through it.

Planted some freedom seeds myself yesterday. Drawstroke is still a bit slow, but hits were running 98% in the vital zone.

Now that’s what I would call “a strong black woman” unlike the ones that are depicted in “Welfare Queen” stories. BZ Constable Jones, moved in toward the threat and returned fire. Dumbass perp shoulda known better than to poke at The Bears near their den.

Dood…she’s no longer into you…but her boollitt is. I guess that you realize now that a RO gives her the right to shoot your ass if you show up, right?

Despots will try to take the liberty of you and your enemy. It’s what they do. What you may refer to as an enemy, the despots may refer to as “useful idiots”. Prepare

Seem to be seeing a pattern of progression in the Daily Gun Pr0n examples. Hmmm Do lubs me some shoulder fired artillery. One can normally get one an “Earth Shattering KA-BOOOM” from them.

Kiddie tickler and murderer Johnny Lee was sent off for life. He should buy some insurance for his booty since it is likely to get hit by a train.
