CANTON ? An 18-year-old died Tuesday night after being shot in the chest near 10th Street and High Avenue NW while he was attempting an armed robbery, according to police.A 19-year-old woman also suffered a gunshot wound in the same incident.
Deceased is Rajhion Davis. A police report said he was shot while showing a gun as he tried to rob the female victim.
A 911 call received at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday directed officers to a shooting in the area, Police Chief John Gabbard said in a prepared statement on Wednesday morning.
Officers contacted 19-year-old at the scene. Canton Fire Department medics took her to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where she was in stable condition Wednesday.
While officers were still at the scene, Davis arrived at Mercy around 8:42 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the chest area. He died there. He had been dropped off by a white Chevrolet Malibu.
“Investigators believe the injuries to both individuals occurred during the same incident,” Gabbard said. “The circumstances of that incident are under investigation.”
In a 911 call, a companion of the 19-year-old woman who was shot told the dispatcher, “My friend just got shot. Some people pulled up on us and tried to rob us.”
She asked for police and an ambulance.
“Please don’t let her die. Please. Please.”
In response to the dispatcher’s question, the caller says her friend is breathing.
A second person is heard on the call identifying herself as a nurse. She says the gunshot grazed the victim.
“She’s going to be OK,” says the nurse.
Before the call ends, the female victim’s companion says the suspect left in a white Malibu headed east toward McKinley Avenue.
The police report says that the victim and her friend were walking in the area when the car stopped near them. The passenger started talking to them through the window.
The companion told police she tried to get the 19-year-old to walk away with her, but she instead approached the car. The passenger left the car and confronted the victim. The companion said he had a gun and asked for her belongings.
The 19-year-old tried to push the man, Davis, off her. She said the suspect had a gun to the back of her friend’s head. She saw a flash and heard a gunshot before seeing her friend with a gunshot wound.
She said she got scared and ran. She told police she had never seen the suspects or their vehicle before.
Police said a security video showed the suspect and the victim struggle with each other physically before she pulled a gun and started shooting at him as she retreated west across High Avenue.

It’s just no fun when the victim is armed too.

I can see it now…..
KoB holding his 12ga Stoeger at the high ready, running to defend the North Wall, singing, “Put me in Coach…..I’m ready to play…..today……”
thank you, thank you, thank you.
You know me way yonder too well, Tox. I do play the game to win…unlike the losers that are featured on these pages. I will fight back and I WILL bring any and every weapon to bear.
Congress… *spits*!
I was browsing at our local 2A store last weekend (MRS D had a firm grasp on the credit card) and there on the shelf was a triple-barreled 12 ga coach gun. Just the thing for answering the door, King.

Not a FGS, by any stretch of the imagination, but today is the anniversary of the Charge of the Light Brigade (25 October 1854).
Another FGS.

I like this line;
“The father sprang into action and pummeled the intruder “until he was unresponsive.” “
I’d LOVE to see the perp’s booking photo(s). hehehehe
And Dad…..please remember to ALWAYS lock your outside doors. (from the story, it looks like the perp just walked into the house. but I could be wrong)
Seems like Akron- Canton area is showing up in the FGS a lot lately?
Owner a Baikal equivalent coach gun …ironically I also had an 870 at the same time. I consistently shot better with the Baikal…I must have liked the abuse.
