In Brief: Riverton Homeowner Shoots Apparent Burglar
Preliminary evidence suggests a Riverton, Wyoming, homeowner shot and wounded a man in his 20s late Friday night. The man was allegedly trying to burglarize a home near the town’s City Park.

A Riverton, Wyoming, homeowner appears to have shot a man attempting a burglary on the home Friday night, police say.The Riverton Police Department is investigating the incident and asking anyone with tips to come forward.
RPD officers responded shortly after 11 p.m. Friday to a home on 900 E. Park Ave. near the Riverton City Park to a report of an attempted burglary with shots fired, says a statement the agency dispatched early Saturday morning.
There they found a man in his 20s outside the home with an apparent gunshot wound.
The “apparent intruder” was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, says the statement.
A person on scene reported seeing the man trying to break into the home, and the homeowner is cooperating with the investigation, the statement says.

Police: Off-duty officer working security shoots shoplifting suspect outside Texas City Buc-ee’s
According to the Texas City police chief, the officer first tried to use a Taser, but when that didn’t work, the officer fired one shot.
TEXAS CITY, Texas — An off-duty officer shot a shoplifting suspect in the parking lot of a Texas City Buc-ee’s late Friday night.
It happened a little before 11 p.m. According to Texas City Police Chief Landis Cravens, the off-duty officer, who works for the Texas City Police Department, was working security at the Buc-ee’s. That officer tried to stop a person accused of stealing from the business. Cravens said the suspect resisted, leading to a struggle.
At one point, Cravens said the officer used a Taser to try to take the suspect into custody, but that didn’t work. The officer then shot the suspect one time.

But it’s too bad the Wyoming homeowner didn’t apply a couple more of the TSS and save the state some bucks.
It’s apparent that if the shooters in these cases hada used some type of Bull Pup design (even a fugly as all hell KelTec) one shot mighta done the trick.

Not a feel-good story, per se, but I didn’t know where else to share this… Two of the Army’s finest have been relieved in the past week or two:

Unlike a certain VP candidate, they each met the criteria for permanent promotion to CSM and [gasp] deployed to combat areas. CSM Knapp seems a little light in the britches when it comes to combat (no CAB, seems like a single Afghanistan deployment), but she was a 31E (Internment/Resettlement Specialist), so wouldn’t necessarily be expected to be outside the wire. If anything, the lack of a CAB might be considered a good sign, since she wasn’t awarded one under questionable circumstances (rocket impacted 150 meters from the EPW holding area). Regardless, she was the First female CSM of the 101st, my initial assignment.
While the now-former MDW CSM’s official picture makes her look almost smug, I can’t help but feel for the now-former 173rd CSM. Alcohol is how many of us cope, and I watched my own BDE CSM fall from grace in 3ID due to his self-medication habits. CSM Carlson is obviously a “been there, done that” sort of NCO and his official picture almost looks like a plea for help.
