One man dead in domestic confrontation at Albion apartment

Trace Christenson
ALBION – A 22-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday during what police described as a domestic confrontation.

Albion Director of Public Safety Scott Kipp said it appears the man was attempting to kick in the door of his former girlfriend’s apartment and was shot by another man already inside.

Officers were first called about 8:10 a.m. to an apartment in the 100 block of West Porter Street for a man attempting to kick open the apartment door, Kipp said.

When officers arrived, the man was gone and they left. But within 30 minutes the man returned and Kipp said the preliminary investigation shows he had a gun but did not fire a shot.

There’s a new name for a mort wagon or ambulance — a moving Vann.

Don’t think that the Vann’s in question going to be moving much anytime soon . . . .

Nope, Vann done kicked the Bucket.

Ms Thang gots a dead ex boy friend and her new one will be in the streets soon. They are a little peculiar about what kind of “gun” you shoot them with.

The article on the New Army leaves out the one that Paladin carried. Now that thar is a purdy shootin’ iron. Perfectly balanced, custom made to fit his hand and the holster.

David and I, along with rgr769 have discussed before how many cowboy pictures were using the 1873 10,20,30 years before they were made.

The tragedy of the leaky boat, crossing the quicksand filled lake during the hurrinado wreaked havoc on my cap n ball bp weapons. Pity

“He also accidentally shot and injured the woman.”

More range and SA training I guess.

Now she’s going to always be able to hang that over his head forever: “I don’t care what you think, say or want to do, I remember when you shot me!”

Folks often forget that the old .45 Colt load of 37-40 grains of black powder behind a big 250 grain bullet was the most powerful handgun load of its day and was not surpassed until 1935 brought the .357 Magnum. Shooting black powder loads in an old revolver is probably one of the most fun things you will ever do with a handgun.

The black powder shooting is fun, the essential gun cleaning is decidedly messy and unfun.

I would rather clean a firearm after BP than smokeless. Two, maybe three patches and the bore is spotless. Flush out the rest with hot water. Allow to dry and oil bore and mechanism. Lightly wipe the surfaces. Done. Maybe 10-15 minutes of work per gun.

Smokeless firearms are never clean.
