Philly DA’s Office employee kills armed man in self-defense, officials say

A gun violence counselor and employee with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office shot and killed an armed man who tried to rob him at gunpoint, officials confirmed with NBC10.

On Tuesday, shortly before 10 a.m., an armed 31-year-old man tried to rob another man on the 2600 block of North Napa Street in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, Philadelphia police said. The second man fired his own weapon, shooting the 31-year-old once in the chest.

The 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man who shot him was not injured during the incident and has not been charged.

Man held at gunpoint during attempted home invasion of Benton couple
“You know, he told me he was Jesus Christ at one point. I told him I don’t think he is, but he’s about to meet him,” said Jason Long, Traci’s husband.

Author: Jordan Howington
A Benton woman is startled after a stranger grabbed her while he tried to force his way into her home.

Fortunately for Traci Long, her husband was home and intervened.

“I know, had he not been here, I wouldn’t have been able to close it,” said Traci.

Traci is calling her husband Jason a hero after the man attempted his way inside her home Tuesday morning in the Hurricane Lake neighborhood.

He rang the doorbell and she opened the door, thinking it was someone working for her husband.

“He kept pushing his way in, he kept saying, ‘You know why I’m here,’” said Traci.

Traci said the man then grabbed her, she screamed for help, and that’s when her husband ran to the door and took over.

He went outside and held the man at gunpoint until police came.

Woman shoots, kills suspected carjacker in St. Louis
The woman jumped into her car, got her own gun and shot the suspect before he drove away in her car

Author: Christine Byers
A 29-year-old woman who told police she was robbed and carjacked in St. Louis Monday shot and killed her attacker, 5 On Your Side has learned.

The victim told police she was going into a business at about 3:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Vandeventer to get her paycheck and was robbed as she was returning to her car, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

She jumped into her car, got her own gun and shot the suspect once in the stomach before he fled in her car, according to the source.

At about the same time she called police, a neighboring police district got a call for an accident with injuries in the 3700 block of Finney Avenue, about half a mile away. Officers found the victim’s stolen car along with a man inside who had been shot in the stomach. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m.

The man was identified Wednesday as 25-year-old Tyrell Williams.

Well, as Jim Steinman put it (and Michael Lee Aday, AKA Meat Loaf, voiced it): two out of three ain’t bad.

Probably best we don’t have a trifecta today, though. The incident where the home intruder was held at gunpoint by the victim’s husband would possibly have “gone south”, legally, had the husband shot the intruder after coming to his wife’s assistance.

Hopefully sanity prevails in the Saint Louis case.

“And then it got weird.” Heh heh. Gunman made a living out of that whole “City of Brotherly Love” thing? “Moonlighting” at Brucie’s Bath House?(Entrance in the rear)

“I hear ya knocking, but you can’t come in!” Another case for the whole “shoot, shovel, shut up” theory of Home Defense.

Hope Tyrell had a long, slow, agonizing, trip to Hell with his gut shot self. Claw?

My repro double trigger Hawken has a Place of Honor, along with a Matched Pair of Philly Boot Pistols, above the mantel of Brother’s Home in Dakota. And, yep, it is accurate as all hell.

Who woulda thunk that the urban entrepreneur in St. Louis had a rap sheet that had his middle name?

Gorgeous wood on the rifle stock.
Appears to be oddly wide grained.
Anybody recognize the species?

Almost looks like Mahogany of some sort.

Curly Maple?

Ash, I think. Looks like the same as a baseball bat

I was going say Ash because of the wide growth rings but have never seen
a rifle stock made from it. Too soft. Looks like Birch but then again
those wide growth rings say no. You may be right.
