TAH News and open thread

| January 31, 2014

Well, I became a full time blogger about two hours ago when I turned in my equipment to the boss. I’m officially retired. Again. The last time I retired, I spent a year as a full time student with a full time and a part time job and three teenagers. This time, I don’t see that happening, none of it. So this means that I have time to call phonies and the public affairs offices about military stuff that offends me.

I can actually read the documents that Manning and Snowden released now. I don’t have to worry about someone complaining and getting my TS clearance pulled.

I’ll be doing my own FOIAs for a change. My former employer was the National Archives and Records Administration, so I never filed FOIAs so no one could accuse me of using my employment to get their records. Hondo and Mary did all of that for us – and I left a paper trail to prove that I didn’t file the FOIAs. But now I’m unencumbered. You can report me to my employer all you want – it’s me.

In celebration, my code monkey hippie chick is designing a new blog for us, one that doesn’t look pink in your browser. We expect to roll out the new look on March 1st. Expect some of our enemies to claim that they’ve taken down the blog again.

Sparks said that he needed an open thread, so consider this to be that. I’m going out on the deck at the TAH corporate resort to smoke a fat cigar and washing it down with a little rum seein’s how the temperature is above freezing for a change. Enjoy.

Thinking.

Too many beers.

Green Thumb

Maybe TAH needs to produce some arcade tickets or such to recognize the big (numerical) prize winners!

I have few that I would like to cash in!

My very own Phildo Doll (with the APL logo), or a A.J. Dickens novel…..

A Proud Infidel

@102, GT, be careful of what you say about BEER, IT’S NOT JUST FOR BREAKFAST ANYMORE!!!

korea95

does anyone knoe of a good WW1 resource, i found my great(great?) grandfather’s actual dogtag and a military service abstract on Ancestry but i’m having trouble finding out about “Co I 2 Pion Inf”.

streetsweeper

@ #105-korea95:

Try this LINK for any information. No idea where he is from so an Aussie unit turns up in that. Good luck, bro.

Ex-PH2

Pion Inf is short for Pioneer Infantry. Try entering 2nd Pioneer Infantry WWI in the search block.

Congratulations Jonn

GiducksStinkeye

was constipated yesterday…thusly had no fat John Giduck to give to the world. Just flushed a Giduck a few minutes ago though.

“Straight to the mess hall…” as they say

Ex-PH2

@109Stinkeye, try a chilled can of mandarin oranges. Works every time.

@105. If you need WWI Australian records, there is a wealth of information online. The folks Down Under do a topnotch job. I found distant relatives’ unit records and even a photo of one, both of whom (brothers) were killed in France within 24 hours of one another and less than two months before the armistice. Here’s a link to search embarkation for some 330,000 troops who shipped off during WW I. Use the ‘Home’ button to start from scratch at the website and for a plethora of other really good stuff. (It’s worth a look even for those not researching Australian military.)

Morning Jonn and Ex and all you folks here. I’m back for the day. Master Chief it is an open thread but I TRY not to monopolize it. 😀 You da man Master Chief! Glad you are on our side.

Sparks

You know I asked Jonn for button at the last post to take you to the top. Well, here I am all these months on TAH and finally click the “Trackback” link at the bottom. Voila! and Ta-Dah!

Sparks

Dumb asses do come in all shapes and sizes don’t we (I). 😀

Sparks

I was thinking you know, a milky skinned, red head with big…

Uh, wait sorry, wrong thread and blog. 😀

Sparks

You know folks I need to be honest and explain something. I have been waiting a year for a knee replacement that is coming in three weeks now. Because of the continual, unrelenting pain the doctor gave me pain medicine to get me to surgery. I take it three times a day.

I say that, to say this. When I take it two things happen. I get talkative and very verbose and my sense of inhibition appears to be reduced.

Considering the above, please just bear with me as I get through this. Forgive my many and sometimes too many posts and I will endeavor to keep a handle on myself. Thank you all for considering this and for your patience with me. You folks are all too kind in regards to me sometimes.

Green Thumb

I saw a pile of steaming dogshit outside this morning (very fresh).

I thought of Phil Monkress.

Oy…I stepped into a very fresh pile of cat shit this morning. Stepping into something warm and squishy was not the nicest thing to step into at 0300 on your carpet between the bed and the bathroom.

Thought of Paul Wickre and all the other loud-mouthed bullshit artists that have given us reason to rise up against their stuipidity and then promptly kicked the cat. We call it “Shit brick”. Just like all of them.

@ Sparks. I promise not to manopilize the thread as long as you don’t be so ignajent.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Navygating this site is diphicult on a BlackBerry.

For example. If I am wrting a William Derek Church, is so fat joke … And then want to skip over to torment Banks or Bernath with my creative sarcasism … It it nearly impoccable.

Any suggestuns?

Thumbs are aiking in NYC!

Susan

Congratulations Jonn. I hope your lack of formal employment does not mean an increase in work for the TAH Legal Team! 🙂

Sparks

@120 Can’t help Master Chief. I don’t have a smart phone. Thanks for your understanding though and I will not be so “ignajent”. 😀

….. Yeah….! Now Jonn V. Lilyea is out from under his government rock….. Ohhhhhh Boooyyyy..!

I love it when a plan comes together…. tic… toc… tic.. toc… So now sickly you, Black Widow Mary Schantag, secret squirrel Hondo (Timothy C. Roberts) and Mark C. Seavey are all out in the open….

Welcome to my real world….. the LRP 41 cometh… and nowhere to hide, now. 🙂

streetsweeper

Yo! sHoRtBuS! In your wet dreams.

Sparks

@126 streetsweeper, what’s the story with LRP41? Is he for real? I have seen some posts of his in the past but what’s with this one at #123? Am I missing something big time?

OWB

If that is an indication of what his real world looks like, who would want to be near it much less in it? What an idiot, with no reason whatever to be one. (Unless it is simply from years if self medicating.)

Sparks

@128 OWB sir, can you answer the question I posed to streetsweeper @127? Maybe he is offline now.

Taurus

Good job. Glad you will have more time to blog. I appreciate the energy you put in to exposing the phonies. Also the blog offers a sense of community among vets and non vets both. I served as a rifle platoon commander with Third Marines in 1968.I never fit in with VFW or American Legion when I returned. They are fine organizations but I wasn’t able to relate to members, most of whom did not hold a combat MOS. I’m not saying that combat is prerequisite for honorable service. I knew dishonorable grunts as well as support personnel who went above and beyond to get things done. I like to read comments to know the views of the younger vets. Also I appreciate the humor of some. I do miss some of the over the edge humor of my fellow Marines. Keep up the good work.

@127: Sparks, LRP41 (he of the challenged capitalization and other grammatical skills) is one Dallas Wittgenfeld. He isn’t precisely a phony – more an embellisher and self promoter ad nauseam – but being an all-around a-hole makes him a perennial favorite whipping boy at TAH.

Sparks

@131 ExHack, thank you my friend. Now I understand. It is all clear now. I will research him a little for fun. Have a good weekend ExHack.

A Proud Infidel

@123, ShOrTbUs41, or sLuRp41, I heard a rumor about the first thing you do after you suck a cock:

You spit the feathers out, is that true? I’m somewhere in FL as well, are ya gonna HALO into my front yard a ASSassinate me?

OWB

Sparks, in your present condition you might actually be bored enough (and/or looking for distraction) to do that research. Guaranteed to be entertaining, in a most disgusting way, but entertaining. And it might just keep you occupied allllll the way to your scheduled surgery time.

There is no way that any of us can adequately explain the phenomena that is the witless one. It’s one of those things that you really need to experience yourself.

But be forewarned that you will have several negative emotions, and a great deal of sadness, tweeked. Normally I would not even suggest that anyone subject themselves to it, but since you need the time filled right now, it is the perfect time for his meaningless drivel. Who knows – the meds you are on might even allow you to break some of the code previously undeciphered by any of us!

Sparks

@134 Thanks OWB. I am on it.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Jonn,

What about the buttons for

Shooting and home made explosions.
Hot US mil women in and out of uniform.
TAH Convention Registration.
Favorite Broadway Musicals, coffee table book titles and green tea brands.
Late night hot spots of South Beach and Greenwich Village.
Direct link to Old Spice web site.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Hey Sparks. I will get you a can of WD-40.

All kidding aside, ask our surgeon to pump you with post op anti-biotics … To head off possible hospital borne infections.

Big problem with hip and knee surguries!

These infections can kill!

Green Thumb

I was watching medical show on cable were they were attempting to remove a cancerous tumor from a patient.

I thought of Phil Monkress and Dallas.

Green Thumb

Damn.

My grammar is horrendous as is my spell check.

Correcting the issue.

Hondo

Sparks: for info about WitLessOne, enter “Wittgenfeld” and “Whittgenfeld” (there’s at least one article using the 2nd spelling) into the search block at the upper right top of the site. “Taint” as a search term also brings up a couple of articles. Then you can “enjoy” (to use the term loosely) reading about our own resident Dullard and “dear friend”.

He seems like quite a nice guy. Well, other than being IMO a liar, a reported thief of intellectual property, a blowhard, a misogynist, a racist, disrespectful to other vets, an idiot, and in general a flaming asshole and jackass, that is.

You might want to have a few barf bags handy while you’re reading, though. And if you’re prone to high blood pressure, a BP test machine.

Sparks

@140 Thanks Hondo. As a side screen I have open I have been digging from the beginning and working my way current. What a character!

@137 Master Chief Thanks. They load me up pre op and post op for three weeks to head off any infections. Especially the ones you get IN THE hospital, like staph and worse, MRSA. I had the other knee done last year. Fortunately I have a great and precautious surgeon.

OWB

Sparks: Hondo submitted a most accurate summary. The sadness comes because while he had a military career that was more than worthy of our respect and honor, he destroyed it all himself with a few pointless exaggerations. Even those are rather minor in comparison with others that have been showcased.

No real reason for any of it except that apparently he “needed” an excuse to remove himself from the community of veterans who would otherwise honor him.

Sparks

@142 OWB I am seeing that clearly now. Why oh why do that to a good and honorable service? I just guess I will never understand.

Sparks

MCPO NYC ***Master Chief***

I have been seeing you reference SB48 several times now. I was thinking all this time it was some special, secret squirrel program for your employer. Now I understand. It is Super Bowl XLVIII. What a dumb ass I feel like. Can everyone tell I am a Baseball and College Basketball fan and don’t follow football.

korea95

thanks to everyone who gave me tips, looks the 2nd Pioneer Infantry came out of the 14th New York Infantry and was hybrid Infantry/Engineer unit.

Valkyrie

Oh man, I missed the great (gravy spill) that is Witlessone!

Proud – Maybe we can invite him to our get together in Panama this year. He doesn’t live far from me so we can carpool. Although I don’t promise he will make there, my kids seem to ask lots of questions and if you are not honest with them, well let’s just say my brother had to ride duct taped on the roof one year. “Honk for Grandma”

Witlessone – Wear the purple jumpsuit and clown wig for me baby, that’s Hot!

Sparks – I to can get talkative at times, and irrelevant. We can try to out goof the other.

MCPO – Try “The Chive” and “The Brigade” for your nekkid pics of Soldier girls. Keep Calm and Nekkid On!

Ex-PH2

Sparks, Whiptinflogt, according to the surviving members of his unit, was just as much as full-blown batshit looney tuna as he is now. That’s on Scotty’s blog.

I shoveled snow, fed the birds, had hot chocolate, took a nap, and sent a couple e-mails off to Shep. You guys need to send him messages, too, and tell him to send an old photo of himself to Jonn to post in the members’ gallery. And get him to post here once in a while. He won’t listen to me.

Then I spent time on a story and I came here and you guys are going on about this & that, while the snow is falling outside my windows. Life is good in the lower 48s.

Hey, Witless & wandering, I have an evil cloned twin sister of you as a villain in a book, with a mustache that would scare a barber into working in a bank. You’re famous in my country club. Go step on your balls, will you? You are SO boring!!!!!

Valkyrie, check your e-mail some time this year. 🙂

Sparks

@14 Valkyrie. Thank you. I get accused of monopolizing the thread if I’m not careful. By the way I love “The Brigade”. I wish I had served in an outfit like them! It’s one of those sites I have to save for when the little woman is out shopping. LIKE NOW!!!

Sparks

@148 I meant @146 Valkyrie. Darned pain meds.

@147 Ex can’t wait for the next book! Thanks too, I will look at Scotty’s also on Witless.

Hondo

Sparks: while you’re at Scottys (links to Scotty’s article on him are in one or more of the articles, but may be buried in the comments), make sure you read the article Scotty posted about the time when a certain purple-suited “fine individual” managed to get arrested for suspicion of flying while intoxicated.

Seriously.

Sparks

@150 Hondo. Swell…a drunk Bernath.

ExHack

They need to go flying together. Phony Chief Daniel A. Bernath is entitled to fly one pax on his light-sport pilot’s license. He can take Dullass skydiving. Parachute optional of course.
