Alex Popovic Subway sandwich shop commando
She’s been looking for a venue to publish her research when she discovered TSO’s battle against uncommon stupidity last week and settled on TAH.
This is Alex Popovic, CEO and Founder of Greyside Group; you can view his website here www.greysidegroup.com.
By their own admission they have the “Highest Legal, Moral, and Professional Business practices in the Industry”.
Let’s look at the first paragraph of his bio:
“Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Mr. Popovic immigrated to the Unites States in 1986, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1994. Earning a degree in Chemical Engineering at Florida State University, he garnered minors in mathematics and physics as well. In 1993 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, rising to serve in elite U.S. Special Operations units for 10 years. Mr. Popovic participated in classified and unclassified missions throughout the world, including Liberia, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Silver Star for valor and the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat. He has briefed former President George W. Bush, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, and various national security advisors and national military command council members on strategies and tactics during the Global War on Terror after the events of 11 September 2001. ”
WOW! Impressive!
– Silver Star Recipient-
– Purple Heart Recipient
– Briefed former President George Bush and Secretary of Defense RumsfeldThe Real issue. Confirmation from the Marine Corps-
NO SILVER STAR. NO PURPLE HEART. NO CAR.
NOT EVEN A COMBAT ACTION RIBBON!
A degree at FSU? I see an Aleksandar Popovic with a degree from FSU….but he is a Serbian politician.
What a Coincidence!
Sounds like this guy would be working at a Subway store, not briefing former President Bush.
Which reminds me……he WAS a Subway manager, and managed to work his way up to owner. Maybe the CAR is a sandwich, not an award? (Chicken Avocado Ranch?)
Question of the day – With the Stolen Valor issue- doesn’t it seem like this poser has built an industry on military honors he has not received?
I’ve seen her documentation, but I’m not publishing it here at her request since she’s also approached ABC News.
Category: Phony soldiers
Why do I suddenly have a craving for a Subway sammich?! Let me make some phone calls an I’ll get back to you fellas.
The FULL Bio…
http://www.thesandgram.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Alex-Popovic-bio.pdf
so i looked on their website and linked on “veteran owned businesses”- its from the greyside group site under affiliations
Maybe its me- but they are not listed in the directory they have on the website? WTF?
Am I missing something here? Maybe operator error?
https://www.vip.vetbiz.gov/
I never saw that much grass in the whole country. (And by grass, I mean the lawn kind)
I wonder if he has a NFA stamp for the SBR, Or if its a airsoft POS. ATF should talk to this guy for sure.
Hey there is a famous soccer coach from australia , maybe he will try and impersonate him next , you know what they say about guys who drive fancy sport cars , well looks like he cant afford one so he uses a subway roll hahahaha loser
‘a maritime organisation has read this blog and wants to assure everyone that they are forwarding this information to maritime security accreditation bodies such as SAMI to see that seafarers aren’t being sold a sham company that would not protect them from piracy’
The Photo on Greysides Services page should be taken as a warning sign and how the heck dose a actual PMC/PSC let its VP get arrested in Mozambique an area that the local LEO get part of their income from Pirates. Supposedly they have a UK office now. http://world.einnews.com/pr_news/57073344/greyside-group-adds-anti-piracy-expert-opens-uk-office-to-support-growth
Greyside website was not up until April 2009-company said it was founded in 2005: http://tiny.cc/ozz5fw
No mention of maritime security
March 2011 suddenly company was founded in 2003..still no mention of maritime security:
http://tiny.cc/l1z5fw
Domain was not registered until 2009
Joined the reserves in 1993 but…by March 1995 Alex Popovic was already working with 2nd Force Recon on 22 MEU and saving Scott O’Grady? Yet…no expeditionary medals, no sea service..nothing. From one of his many resumes…
“6 month MEU work up for 22nd MEU, successfully tasked with the MSPF and R/S missions, also to include TRAP and VBSS missions.
1995 actively participated in operations in and throughout Bosia as interpreter and counter-sniper operations in and around Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Gorazde and involved in rescue of Captain Scott O’Grady shot down in his F-16 provide over watch for TRAP mission and engaged targest of opportunity in non-permissive rese, to include light armored vehicles and personnel.”
So it looks like Alex Popovic is back in court on Monday for another hearing on an ‘order of protection’. The woman listed asked for a POP twice before and it was denied…she has asked for another POP and it is being heard on Monday. What is up with this?

Check court case: CC2012-105514
He hired a criminal defense attorney.
Alex Popovic’s Resume says he was working for BlackWater USA, Personal Security Specialist/Agent In Charge/Sniper Moyock, NC November 2007-November 2008
“Wounded in Baghdad November, 2008”
http://tiny.cc/3t17fw
Take a look at Clark County Nevada records- someone was suing the Subway Commando
Case Type: Breach of Contract
Date Filed: 11/25/2008
Location: Department 27
Conversion Case Number: A576528
Joseph Rivera vs Alexander Popovic, Subway 15131, et al
He either has commando super healing powers or was slinging bacon while wounded
looks like 3 suits actually
Was it Blackwater he was working for or a “black forest ham” sammie
Taken from TheSandGram…
Another bio excerpt:
…. “GreySide Group was just an idea as a young Special Operations soldier that I thought of in the 90?s, our world, we used to joke with one another was never black or white but rather Gray, hence the birth of GreySide Group, albeit within my mind as just an idea. 9/11 changed the paradigm forever that Western governments were operating in, which was a blessing in disguise for men with our backgrounds and a college degree. We finally had a niche and place to put our skill sets, background connections and business acumen to good use.
Fast forward to 2003, after being injured in Afghanistan chasing Al Qaeda,… (I have to stop here…)
His own F’n resume says he was injured in 2008 with Blackwater…so much BS…can’t even keep his own stories straight…”chasing Al Qaeda?!…really? Dude doesn’t even have a CAR!
If you read through Alex Popovic’s own resume http://tiny.cc/3t17fw there is NO mention of GreySide Group. How could it have been founded and operating since 2003/05 and not make it onto his resume? He has Subway listed, LVPD, Blackwater…no greyside.
GreySide Group has a facebook page…
http://www.facebook.com/GreysideGroup
Reading through this yahoo’s resume and bio…it is clear Alex Popovic is completely full of crap..this guy has no Combat Action Ribbon…he has no Global War On Terror medal, no expeditionary medals, no deployment ribbons, no overseas ribbons…nothing…NADA…this guy was nothing more than a reserve rat who never got into the game and has fabricated his military life. If he had been in ANY direct combat at all (as claimed)…he would have a CAR and/or GWOT. If he had operated after 2001, as he claims, he would have had a GWOT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_War_on_Terrorism_Service_Medal
Add this one to your toolkit – http://web.archive.org
Looking back on the greyside website is instructive.
I believe he does have a CAR (cucumber addition reward) a GWOT (gastronomic wealth of tomatoes) and had, indeed briefed the CINC “what would you like on your Philly staek and cheese, Mr. President?”
According to GreySide’s facebook page they owe their IC’s money…and have not been paying…http://www.facebook.com/GreysideGroup
WTF! Why haven’t Brett and I gotten paid for the Kuwaiti VSA? The excuse of you’re waiting to get paid by the client is BS!

Alex is my bracket lock of the year. He conned a ton of people and is still doing it. How can he possibly lose? he is the HEAVY WEIGHT BLOATER, the rest are still amateur status… Until I see a bigger ASS of there, Alex “Subway Sandwich Shop Commando” is the biggest douche of the all!
He should be the winner this year for several reasons:
1. He looks like a clownass in that photo- no coming back from that.
2. He conned people, his credibility was based on lies
3. He said he has been in Maritime Security since 2003, unless by “Maritime” he means “Submarine” and “Security” he means “Securing a lunch time sandwich”. In that case- makes total sense. Maritime Security = Making sure you secure a lunchtime sub
4. He “briefed” Bush? Maybe he briefed him on whether he wanted mayo or mustard with his order
He didnt just “dress the part” – those fat DB in dress blues you can spot a mile away- its the ones like this that are harmful.
They know just enough to sound credible.
Oh yes, and the Silver Star Medal. Forgot that. Maybe he received one of those little sticky silver stars like we got in kindergarten for making a sandwich the right way? Not a medal, but it does LOOK metallic and it IS a silver colored star.
Subway Shop Commando- priceless
[…] 1 Tim “Stuttering Jackass” Poe v. 8 Alex “Subway Sandwich Shop Commando” Popovic […]
“Pops” as he was known in 2007 touted himself as an owner of multiple Subways and as a cop in Las Vegas. He was in Iraq with BW in 2007 – ? on a project up North. The Iraq part and the BW part is fact since I went through HTT with him Sept 2007 in NC. Other than that I don’t know about the other claims. A bit high on the ego side but he passed the course and was endorsed by a retired Tier 1.
He may have faked some stuff BS’d or whatever. but at the course he had the skills to pay the bills, otherwise he would not have graduated.
Correction….November 2007 was the course, not September. Brain fart
I too worked with him, stand up guy and excellent operator, sounds to me like someones got a vendetta/character assassination angle. Good for him that he had other ventures and has his own company. Everyone on here writing and opining need to get a life and check themselves, particularly about a one page PDF word document that anyone can draft…….cmon guys…..really, how much shit do we believe that’s written by the media
Interesting angle 18D. If what has been published is incorrect then why hasn’t Mr. P tried to correct it with TAH or the POWNetwork? Since you are, apparently, friends with him, why don’t you invite him to this forum to correct any inaccuracies? The fact he graduated from SS school or HTT, while laudable, does not give him the right to claim a SS, PH, or disabled vet status. This is the issue at hand. I am sure all readers would value his input on this topic.
That’s pretty interesting, 18D. Tell me, however–how could a guy join the military in 1993, and yet wasn’t a US citizen until 1994 (at least?)
Now correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t an 18-series MOS require a security clearance, and as a non-US citizen, even though he could join the military, it would have to be in an MOS where he could NOT hold a clearance?
Oh, and how’s the weather today in Phoenix?
IP Check on aisle 3 please… odd when all of a sudden out of nowhere an old topic gets dredged up like this.
18D, Yat Yas 1833 here. I’m in Phoenix, just north of Christown. Why don’t we get together and go visit your buddy? I have a few questions I’d like to ask Alex. If here can answer them correctly, I’ll be back quickly, to vouch for him. Otherwise I will stand by my brothers and sisters here. Put up or sit down.
Sparky, it’s hot and humid!? Uhhh, it’s August in Phoenix, what the hell else would it be!!!
Well, it IS Phoenix…where the first words of a baby are, “But it’s a DRY heat!”
Here is a 4 page resume found online. This one doesn’t claim SS/PH but does claim 2nd Force and operations to rescue Scott OGrady, among other things…Considering “Pop” has no campaign, sea service, or other awards..doesn’t add up…http://www.4shared.com/office/NJMcVmy1/Alex_Popovic_Resume.html
NHSparky: “dry” is relative. In Phoenix, relative humidity of 50% or so is considered unusually humid. Most other places, that’s a dry day. (smile)
And considering O’Grady was shot down in 1995, well…curiouser and curiouser.
Hey, 18D! You got a 214? And yeah, I think you “know” Alex, but not as another person, if ya know what I mean.
But even if you’re just a buddy of his, I think I’d like to see yours AND his, just for shits and giggles.
Hondo compadre, you hit the nail right on the head! It’s currently 101 w/25% humidity and when I took out the garbage, alley garbage can is directly behind my house about 25 yards from my kitchen, I was perspiring by the time I got back to the house!?! BUT, in December I’m wearing gym shorts and flip-flops!!!:)
101? You call that hot? ROFL.
Just kidding–my aunt lives near ya’ll. I don’t care how long you’ve lived there, when it hits 115, that’s fucking HOT.
I sure as hell wouldn’t want your electric bills, even with the “level pay plan” my dad used to use there.
“stand up guy”? you have to be one to reach over a subway counter sneeze guard.
He may have gone to the schools but “slapping bologne on white or wheat” is a little different than O’Grady rescue
“CAR” – Chicken Avocado Ranch – anyone who has served in combat should get one from Subway for free- think with all his connections with Bush and Rumsfeld he can work that out?
Someone has a personal vendetta? With so many secret missions- no doubt.
Sparky, HONEST TO GOODNESS, I have a checking account specifically for APS, Arizona Public Service, our electric provider that I put $100 a paycheck into! $2,600 a year and by December there might not be more than a couple of hundred dollars left. January thru April monthly bill is, on average, $60-70 a month. May thru September? $200-250 a month! My best ever was August 2010, $292.24, I know for sure because I framed the print out! October can be iffy but by November we’re back to $60-70 monthly bills.
Fully agree, NHSparky. Anything above 110F is pretty oppressive, regardless of humidity.
18D. Your “friend” represented, and is still repping himself as a disabled vet. See the FBO below. In checking the NAICS codes listed for grapeslide, the below was shown…really? Bible school? Consulate? Investment funds?

F’ing crickets. Nothing…no reply at all? Yeah…I guess we know who 18D really is…
No response will come at lunch- Subway is busy.
Facts are facts.
Greyside group was not formed in 2003
NO Silver Star
NO Combat Action Ribbon
NOT a disable vet
But…(to quote 18d)…”, stand up guy and excellent operator…”..operating the lettuce shredder and the bun warmer…standing behind the sneeze plate..

Really, if you are a 18D and know this skell as a “good operator” then you are a fraud as well.
Lets have a Master Chief Challenge here.
ID yourself the way we all do here.

If you do, you are a fraud.
Either way … 18D based on your comments above you are a fraud!
