Ken Aden running for Congress in AR-03, a “Green Beret” not so much
There’s a guy running for Congress in Arkansas’ 3rd Congressional District, who happens to be a Democrat named Ken Aden. He had a perfectly honorable career in the military with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 1st infantry Division, but that wasn’t good enough for him. Apparently, he had been telling the media before his run that he was a “Green Beret” (remember I told you to be suspicious of people who say that?). For example, there’s an article in the Russellville, AR, Courier News Online in which he clearly tells the reporter that “I am a former green beret…” In case the article disappears, like many of the articles I’ve been searching for, here is the relevant screenshot;
He’s running against his former commander in the Congressional race, Steve Womack, who says that he doesn’t remember Aden in his unit when they served in the Sinai, but as you can see from his FOIA, he has the Multi-National Force and Observers Medal traditionally given to folks who served in the Sinai;

I guess someone got word that folks were checking on him and started cleaning up behind him.

I’m surprised that you folks are shocked that a potential politician would lie! Look up “Liar” in Mr. Webster’s dictionary and a synonym for “Liar” is politician!?
I think it is high time we start holding politicians to a higher standard and change the definition to make politicians too afraid to lie about this stuff. I don’t care if they are running for dog catcher in Dog Hollow, Mississippi. I think it is time we start making the media scrutinize records…rabble, rabble, rabble…
Tim, I’d be absolutely awful at determining whether an Army 214 is legit or fuller of shit than a Christmas goose unless it was Jesse MacBeth’s. But I guess the more eyes, the better.

Ken Aden served honorably but was not SF qualified. I will have something in writing from Fort Bragg about that on Tuesday. However, the proof is already available on-line on Aden 4 Congress. ANY SF qualified soldier would proudly wear his SF tab above the patch on his left shoulder. This guys has none. ANY good noncommissioned officer would list his awards correctly and accurately. This guy didn’t do that and even placed a volunteer award in front of his ARCOM. The FOIA document above has some questionable items, especially his discharge date. If you check Aden’s web site, he belongs to the 82nd Airborne Association and 1st Inf Div Association. I called the SF Association and suprise, suprise, Aden is not a member, nor of the Professional Soldier Association. We are going to reveal all of this to the media in Arkansas as soon as hard copy is received from the Army. He is also using his photos in uniform on his web page without the required disclaimer. I am retired Army, had the privilege of serving with SF and Rangers although I was not one. Then that do don’t talk about it. Them that wanted to lie. Ken Aden is lying about his SF qualification.

SSG Aden served in another mortar platoon in the same squadron I was in. He was C Trp/5-73 CAV/3rd BCT/82nd ABN. He was a good NCO, and ALMOST completed the Q course for 18B. I heard from a friend that he was injured near the end of his training and was then sent over to the 82nd. Apparently the end of one of his fingers was cut off and reattached after being closed in an arms room door. This could also be a lie, but I’m not certain. I do know that he was in the Q course for 11B and I would assume he did not complete it as he never wore a tab nor green beret.
One of the reasons an 11B would need a TS/SCI is that in the HHC of an infantry bn the NCOIC of a 2 shop is an 11B.
