Garin Sparks; phony medic
The folks at Military Phonies send us their work on this fellow, Garin William Sparks whose claims are that he is a twenty-year veteran of the Army medical field which he has parlayed into a career in Hollywood.
Garin William Sparks has built quite a career for himself – both in the Army and in the film industry. He claims to have worked on over 100 films as an on-set medic, the most recent being “Olympus Has Fallen“, “Boyhood” and “True Grit“.
So the folks at Military Phonies ordered his records;
First off, he’s not a sergeant E-5 like he claims. He’s a specialist E-4 – big distinction between the enlisted rabble and the non-commissioned officer corps. He wasn’t a medic – big difference between being a medic and an artilleryman. Especially when he uses the phony medic story to be the head medic on movie sets and he really has no experience in the field. That could be dangerous.
He was deployed to Noble Eagle, United States and Canadian military operations related to homeland security and support to federal, state, and local agencies, and a deployment to Iraq in 2007. An admirable career, a huge rack of awards, no need to embellish that at all.
Category: Phony soldiers, Valor Vultures
He has already scrubbed his FB page, nothing says ‘guilty’ like a squeaky clean profile.
I would question if he is a civilian medic at all. All he should have to do to prove that is to list the state he is licensed in and the number of his license.
This is not a number that is restricted, and is required in order to provide medical care beyond boy scout level first aid. All Army Medics are EMT’s with a national registration number and a State number.
It is possible, that like me, his military training did not cover medical but he still has an EMT rating. (I volunteered off post for three years with a Volunteer Fire Department in NY and got my initial Firefighter and EMS certifications there)
Still, claiming to have been a combat medic (at best i would say CLS) as reason to work on sets as a medic with out a civilian licenses likely breaks a lot of other laws beyond stolen valor.
Nope, no listing in the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, not even a “lapsed” certificate. Louisiana requires NREMT for a state license. I’m busting my butt right now to pass EMT school and this doofus thinks he’s a combat medic just because. He also claims “strong communication skills” with that abomination of a resume.
I was not aware of a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Was that active back in ’85 when I got my EMT-B?
That puppy is long since lapsed. But one thing I remember is that a lot of what became SOP in the emergency medicine fields came out of ‘Nam. When I was in HS in ’69/’70 even a “simple” thing like an asthma attack could be fatal, since we had no EMS to speak of. Lost a fellow Sr in HS to an asthma attack at our Senior picnic. So different today.
NREMT has been around a looong time, since the 70s…so, yes it was in 85. (My NREMT-P is still current)
Learn somthin’ new ev’ry day, I guess. Thanks, ID SARC
Back in late ’85 I got my EMT-B paid for by my work (private security) and was going to work with some local EMS to “keep up” – but my wife asked me to wait until after the birth of #2 son. After that – didn’t have time, working full time & taking care of 3 kids on $6.50/hr.
Still have my old books. I cannot seem to throw an old book away.
An EMS investigator busted him on set last year and is keeping it an open investigation because he has never been in any EMS system as an EMT, paramedic or having his National Registry ever. He has already been checked out. Absolutely no medical training. He has also been seen showing up on film sets in army fatigues with army stretchers and army backpacks claiming he is a combat medic using present tense.
Garin William Sparks – your “medic” career ended when you did a self-enema all over your service.
I would say “honorable” service, but I have to wonder how “honorable” your are when you, Garin William Sparks, lie like a mangy dog.
He claims to have worked on over 100 films as an on-set medic, the most recent being “Olympus Has Fallen“, “Boyhood” and “True Grit“.>/i>
Hey-I recognize him from that! When Lucky Ned Pepper rides away to go fight Rooster Cogburn just look at the rear end of his horse and there he is!
I imagine a lot of those films were gay porn.
Dude looks like he has some experience.
He DOES look like a pecker-riding pole puffer!
Cocksucker.
and then some.
I will grant you that Im not the brightest bulb on the strand…..but, after 23 years in the Army medical career field, and deployments to Iraq as a Senior medical NCO, and an additional 8 years as a medical advisor in Afghanistan;
How is it I didn’t qualify for the “Army medicine Medal”?
You didn’t send in the paperwork and grovel enough, Doc.
I’ll send you a photocopy in the mail. Just use green ink on the line where your name goes.
Can I use crayons??
No, sorry, it has to be green ink. I’ll send a green ink pen with the photocopy certificate.
It’s actually just a band-aid they stick on your ribbon rack.
Should be a tourniquet – around the neck.
Is there a Navy “Medicine Medal” equivalent. I, too, had 23 years. I feel deprived. I demand a recount.
I wonder if he is trying to claim in his limited vocabulary the Order of Military Medical Merit? Which is an organization within the MEDCOM.
Another idiot with a legit MSM that couldn’t be satisfied. SMH. . .
A speedy four with an MSM? Wow, OK that’s something I think I’ve never seen before. Did he save a general’s life or something?
Our Sparks will not be happy. At. All.
Also: Georgia National Guard Olympic Ribbon? The Atlanta olympics were in 1996 and he enlisted in 2001 (looks like he started basic on 9/11/01.) How does he rate a Georgia NG Olympic ribbon? Was that a clerical mistake? Was he ever even in the Georgia ARNG?
Perhaps he earned it in the local Special Olympics?
Go over to military phonies site he has 9 or so years in the Georgia NG
Starting in 1992 or so the award from Louisiana maybe from hurricane Katrina duty in 2005
Oops, my bad. I do see the enlistment started in 1992 – I was thinking he started basic in 2001 but that’s not correct. So I guess that explains the GA stuff.
As for the MSM – who knows, that may also be a legacy of the Olympics. Who knows, maybe he was the one who pointed the finger at Richard Jewell and shouted “J’accuse!” 😀
??
??
Pity. He would have been perfect in Hacksaw Ridge. Not as Medal of Honor Recipient Desmond Doss but as the company asshole. Every company has its asshole.
There’s one dipshit ASVAB waiver in every platoon. If you don’t know who yours is…it’s probably you…or…this ass hole.
I like that. May I use it? With proper attribution, of course.
Help yourself brother.
Sure as hell when a movie comes out posers want to be the hero on the screen. Dipshit
Jonn I wonder if that continuation sheet belongs to another soldier? The Georgia and Louisiana awards, the MSM and the Georgia Olympic medal make me think that perhaps that is not his continuation sheet. Another possibility is that the clerk who typed up the continuation sheet made a mistake.
I know my NGB-22 (NG equivalent of a DD-214) is a mess because the clerk didn’t care enough to do it right and I wasn’t there looking over his/her shoulder when it was done.
Thinking the same. No proof admittedly, but in addition to what you mentioned about his bling, what about all those years of, apparently very good, service and still an E4?
Still possible. Maybe just never got around to going to PLDC.
He was in over 100 films and doesn’t even have a photo of himself standing alongside of Gary Sinese?
Pffffffffttttt. He’s not even trying.
He’s got the pouty lips going. That’s good. Pouty lips are always good on these clowns.
I saw this on military phonies last night ??
This turd is going to get someone hurt real bad or killed my guess would be the later ?
This turd thinks because he watched someone do a CLS class that it makes him a medic
NOT GOOD !!!
To anyone reading this that’s a civi his service in the military had nothing to do with being a medic
He was a Gun Monkey ? nothing wrong with being a gun monkey
Garin William Sparks. Is a lying POS..
Garin William Sparks. Enjoy your Google Fame
PS. He deployed in 2007 so odds are good on the CLS class but it does NOT make you a Medic
It’s basic 1st aide
True, CLS class DOES NOT make one a “Doc”, the CLS trained Troops are to keep the wounded or injured stable until the Docs get there.
What a weezley looking piece of shit we have here! Son of bitch anyway. I wouldn’t let this ass sniffer change my tire, much less dress my wound.
Queer bait!
Why!!!!?????
Veteran’s Day is Friday. Here comes the phonies.
And that is the reason why I stay home
I’m afraid I’ll do something stupid
I’m with you, Skippy.
Went once to Golden Corral buffet on Vet’s day, and there was more bullshit flying around than there is at a cow chip throwing contest.
I’m there with you, Skippy… every wannabe, ballsack worker, taint tickler and rump-riding ranger will be out showing their ass starting this week at the local schools at Veteran’s Day ceremonies.
A trip to Home Depot who kindly offers discounts to veterans will cause you to have to wear sunglasses. Some guys think they have to wear a bunch of bling to get 10% off and it is a laugh riot sometimes.
Where I live the poser denizens will be out front of the parking lot of Walmart. Cardboard signs reading, “Wounded Vet-No Food-Need Help”. Some have an item or two of shabby looking camo or fatigues. Sometimes blue jeans and an old dress blouse. It’s the only day that if I HAVE to go out and see them, I stop and roll down the window and ask them when they served, what unit, what operations, etc. They hem-haw and the bull shit starts. About 4 years ago, one said to me. “I served the 82ND Army in Iraq and was with the 2ND Marines in Con Thien. My eyes rolled back as I pushed down a stroke. I waited and said you might want to give that some more think buddy? Con Thein is in Vietnam, long before your time and it’s the 82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION! Not ARMY cream puff and that’s an Air Force marked field jacket you’re wearing. Nothing Army or Marines about it or you. You’re just a lying poser”. He started mumbling his junk and I said “You know this day means a lot to me and jack wagons like you see it as just a chance for a free handout. How ’bout you stick around and I’ll call 911 and you can tell the Officer your story.” He picked up his lawn chair, cooler and flag and walked up to the parking lot and unlocked a car a year newer that mine. Loaded his shit in the trunk and headed off to greener pastures I assume. I sat there for a minute and had the strong urge to pull in behind him and puncture all his tires. But then I thought that calling the wife on Veteran’s day from jail wasn’t a good way to start the weekend. Sons of bitches anyway!
And nobody is ever a generator mechanic or “wire dog” (Army commo)or supply..no,no,no! Everybody is a badass combat arms, tabbed out, HALO jumping, black ops, assassination team MoFo (1st class with combat star). My first question is always:”What was your MOS?” then they usually turn and walk away.
Word ^^^^
I always tell people I swept SHIT under the rug, spent long hours in a office
Always getting my ass chewed up because some ate up fuck face couldn’t do there fucking job… or better yet,,, I was middle to bottom where all the shit rolls down
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
I tell them I burned shit in a barrel.
??
Or like one Biker type I saw at a Veteran’s event, he had his Biker vest festooned with what looked like at least ten pounds of bling between what was sewn or pinned on. When I asked him what Unit he served with in Vietnam and what year, he meekly looked own and mumbled “It’s been a while, I forget things like that.”. I went on my way because I didn’t think he was worth it.
Sparks had to take the Dog to the vet this afternoon and guess what on the street corner and the Medain two low speeds had the it’s almost Veterans Day do you have a dollar to spear
Talk about WTF
They’re everywhere brother. The wife unit and I saw two at Lowes yesterday afternoon late.
E6: I go to the mall on two occasions:
When The Russian forces me to do so.
Around Veterans Day. I sit in the lobby, watching the posers. First class entertainment. I’ll occasionally engage one, the ones who most scream ‘bullshit poser’. They don’t have a clue. I politely invite them to remove their uniform. Some leave. Some suggest I perform unnatural functions on myself.
All the while The Russian is lost in the bowels of the mall, spending her Rubles on stuff we don’t need. We reconnect hours later. As long as I have a history book, I can sit for half a day as she wanders. And spends.
Word. The mall on Veteran’s Day is true feast for the eyes of poser shit.
Our mall is so small the only thing people do there are go to a movie or go there to get away from everyone else, haha.
I’ll go and take my wife and the kids to the parade, but she knows better than to ask if I want to get a free meal somewhere. I’ve never felt ok asking for that. I think it’s a great gesture, but not something I feel comfortable with personally.
Will the real chin…please stand up.
We were taught Basic First Aid in basic.
1. Stop the bleeding.
2. Clear the airway
3. Never pretend to be medic so you can get a job teaching Hollywood actors to be a medic.
4. I don’t remember number four.
LMAO!
#4 is ‘Don’t be a poser’.
I once had a very old school PA who began his tenure in the Army as a combat medic in Viet Nam; he explained “mud medicine” to be in the following way:
“Son, listen and I’ll break this down for you as simply as I can….blood goes ’round and ’round, and air goes in and out…any deviation of those two principles is inherently bad, and you should concentrate on plugging the big leaks and making the air continue to go in and out”.
My thanks to CW5 Fischer for that nugget of wisdom when I was a young and new medic in the 1980’s…
^^^LIKE^^^
I’m guessing that GARIN SPARKS has a “sooper seekrit” career as a fluffer on a gay pron set…
Those chin deformities sure show evidence of working two holes and giving blow jobs with a nice chin rest.
Word.
I was thinking he has some serious swelling from a pair of balls repeatedly smacking his chin.
Nothing says ‘digital prostate/rectal exam’ like his facial features.
Hey, Hollywood is all make pretend anyway, huh?
Of course, those liberal actors may feel cheated when they discover they were under the watchful eye of a fake. It seems they would have a lawsuit against whomever was in charge of credentialing.
“And there I was… dodging the percussion of fake bullets going off. Tucking and rolling to avoid the pyrotechnics and squinting to avoid the for dramatic effect baking flour getting in my eyes from the fake explosions. Now I find out if I HAD twisted my ankle I wasn’t in good hands? You can’t get more real than that.”
I just posted the following the message Board of his IMDB site. In response to a message saying he is the “best in the business”.
Garin Sparks would be the best in the business, if he were actually a medic or had been an Army Medic. He was an Artilleryman during his career and no medic training beyond what every soldier receives. The truth can be found at this link.

With Veteran’s Day approaching, it is a shame that a man would hold himself out to be something he isn’t and in the process put lives in danger, were a real medic needed on a movie set. There is a lot of liability hanging out here for the studios and others should he attempt to treat someone and it go awry. Mr. Sparks had a perfectly good and honorable term of service in the military and chose to lie and embellish his credentials for his own sake and hopefully not to the detriment of someone needing real medical assistance. Beware of this man and his claims.
I guess I should feel flattered. I don’t think we see many folks posing as medics. What a turd. Hey, in Israel we didn’t get a medicine medal. Can I get one from you all?
I’m thinking he must have at least EMT-Basic from somewhere. A number of my colleagues do set medic work on the side. Usually those jobs are handled through a set medic/event medic company or agency. And usually the agency will require a photocopy of all the employee’s medical certs. So I’m guessing the turd-posing-as-a-combat medic actually does have an EMT cert from somewhere. Mind you, I really don’t like him stealing the credit for the sort of work that I gladly risked my life for.
Nope, sorry. He has to be certified by the NREMT in order to have a certificate in either California (Hollywood) or Louisiana (his residence), and he NOT in the NREMT database, even with a lapsed or inactive certificate. In fact, MOST states require NREMT certification as a condition of state licensing.
Roger that. Then someone does a really shoddy job of hiring. I’ve never held a job where they didn’t ask to verify my licensing and certification.
No EMS licenses in the system ever. An investigator already checked him out last year.
Then either he’s lying about the movie set thing, or he and the company both are breaking the law.
The second is just as likely. Every couple of years we hear about some guy that somehow succeeded in faking credentials. A local city fire dept even fell for it and had a phony paramedic working for a while.
Dear God! That’s a good way to get someone killed, and a major lawsuit happening.
Garin has been breaking the law and committing fraud for years. He has been lying his way onto film sets by telling everyone he is a combat medic and 20 year sergeant who did three tours in Iraq. He has been pushing qualified and experienced medics out of work. I have had numerous medics I wanted to bring on my shows and Garin always goes through producers to get the shows. I’m glad to see someone finally called him out on it. It’s my job to keep my sets safe for cast and crew. He is a liability and dangerous.
I could see thus dude moving on to advising gay porn film shoots.
Dude.
The NG and Reserves have some serious fruit salad. Some very creative ribbons indeed…
Moving on, this guy is a turd.
I would love to see a size 12 boot print on his face in the picture above.
And by the look on his face he was not very happy with the flavor of the semen he just received.
If all Americans can have high quality oversight for their medical care, why can’t the Hollywood elite?
What’s good enough for the common man has got to be good enough for Hollywood. What am I missing?
Just say ‘NO’ to fake military medics.
Where the hell was he in Iraq where he could walk around without body armor or a loaded weapon? There are photos of him doing just that on Military Phonies. What kind of bullshit is this?
That’s what I was thinking also Lol…
He changed the appearance of his Facebook page.
He got rid of the gerbil and doubled-down on a military bad-assery theme.
https://www.facebook.com/garin.sparks
It speaks “I’ll not kowtow to anybody”.
https://myspace.com/garinsparks/photos?
I found out that the Combat LifeSaver (CLS) course at Fort Bragg, NC is two weeks.
I’m getting various answers on the National EMT certification. I’ve seen from 19 days and up to 2 years of classroom training.
The national refresher is 2 weeks so I’m thinking the initial qualification should be longer for national registration.
Point is – I don’t think someone can use the CLS as an equal one for one with National EMT qualification.
Absolutely NO WAY that CLS qualifies as training for national EMT certification. I’ve completed an abbreviated CLS (no invasive procedures) and have the current syllabus, and I’m currently in EMT school. Every EMT course that qualifies for national registry has to be approved by the NREMT, and CLS does NOT qualify (for one thing, CLS doesn’t include the required clinical rotations for EMT-B).
I first took the CLS Course in the early 90’s when I was an AD Combat Engineer and it was merely 40 hours and the biggest thing of that was “live fire” IVs (we gave each other actual IV injections). One thing the Medics teaching the course told us was that the class DID NOT make us Medics, we were being trained on how to stabilize someone until they got there and took over.
That image on his FB page? The one which shows someone walking with a flag? Any chance Pouty Face knows that pic is of a Perhmerga soldier and that the flag is Kurdish? Any chance he knows that it’s under license?
He will not kowtow to anyone! That’s not the way I heard it. I hear he sewed knee pads into all of his trousers.
Word.
His facial expression is indicative of being queefed on by Rosie O’Donnell, repeatedly for at least a month if not longer.
All USA EMTs all the way up tp Paramedic cerdentals are public record to help prevent this kind of thing. Here is the link. No this Douch is not part of our ranks either. Thanks all of the legit Men and Women for your service
https://www.nremt.org/rwd/public/
Just for shits and grins ran my name in the link provided and it showed my EMT (lapsed) from 1985. So it goes back at least that far.
No sir, not all states require that EMTs be certified through National Registry. NREMT only shows who is certified through them.
Most states DO require NREMT certification, including California (Hollywood) and Louisiana (his state of residence).
A specialist with an MSM? I’m a Marine Major and was stoked to get mine! How much influence do you have as a E4 non-NCO cannoneer? He must have been awesome. In any case, there is certainly enough to be VERY proud of, but now he has the stain of being a liar on him. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
He looks like he’s trying to stifle an unpleasant bodily function. Excessive flatulence can produce such facial grimaces.
If he worked on a SAG set, or one that hired it’s workers through SAG or the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts, then he needed to be certified. 38 years ago, my room mate and I worked on the set of Harry-O in San Diego for a couple of weeks. You can bet your ass they checked my EMT registration and even called my boss at the NRMC San Diego to make sure I wasn’t a complete doofus (I was a partial doofus, then).
Louisuaba is a right to work state. No credietiaks or licenses were ever checked.
Right to work has NOTHING to do with it. Anyone working in the medical field MUST have medical credentials. If he really was working on those sets as he claimed, then he was breaking the law (practicing medicine without a license and possibly falsification of certification), and if the company didn’t check his credentials, then they were breaking the law as well.
He’s worked on union and non union movies. Productions don’t check licenses. I’ve worked in the office as a production assistant were these clowns come in and they get hired because they know the right people, or in Garin’s case, kiss the right ass. It’s a big liability. He has never presented a resume with any licenses attached when I’ve seen his resume to pass over to my boss.
Looking at his picture it wouldn’t surprise me if AR-600-9 was what kept him from getting to PLDC so he could get promoted. No NCOPDR = No PLDC/WLC which is a requirement for promotion to E-5.
I am DYING to know how he got that MSM. Would that award certificate be in the public domain? 😀
He probably “cocked” a few “meat cannons” to get a MSM…
As I recall, orders for ARCOM and higher usually had a copy of the certificate attached as the last page. (Mid eighties, 24th ID)
It would be a DA form 638, if I recall correctly. That packet should include the form itself, and a typed narrative for an MSM. I would suspect one might be able to FOIA that particular document.
Without knowing the unit awarding, and date of the orders, it might be a bit of a challenge to find it. But a copy of the orders and narrative should have been in his file. The orders would be in the unit records. The completed form and narrative retained at the issuing HQ until they aged out and were sent to the archives.
(I am remembering 25+ years ago, so I may have some bits garbled.)
A medic on movie sets in Hollywood? Yeah, right.
Joe Teti ought to look him up and hire him.
Cut from the same cloth, and all that…
LOL some of his Facebook friends got all butthurt when I linked them the page. Called us a witch hunt, then raged at me in PM when I informed them they enable Stolen Valor.
Jews and Hitler…Jews and Hitler…
Putting the deception aside for a second, Garin W. Sparks seems to have also taken work away from other legitimate medics.
He has stolen work from real licensed medics who have worked extremely hard. He’s a kiss ass and likes to stroke people’s egos so they don’t check his licenses. He’s a liability, a fraud, a thief, completely dangerous and an asshole for lying to everyone. I hope they put him in jail.
YES HE HAS taken work from honest hard working professionals who have and do go above and beyond what’s needed to work in this industry, and to stay on top of all the requirements to keep current In the field!!
This man is a feltch and good lord willing I hope NO ONE gets hurt on one of his sets because the people he has “pleased” will be MORE than Happy to roll him under TO save there Necks, because they can’t say they don’t know
This man should be sitting in the brig just like Bergdahl, both are traitors to they’re fellow Brothers and Sisters at arms. Riding on the shirt tails of REAL HEROS. FELTCH
Exactly!
^^^THIS^^^
Just asked around and looked at some crew lists from friends and productions and a lot of those IMDB credits were not earned by Garin, but other medics. So that would explain why he has so many movies listed in such a short amount of time. Wow! Really dishonest…
You guys are pretty harsh. I’m an assistant director working on features. Many above 100 mil. When we have real stunts we have an ambulance. Garin does the job of set medic quite well actually. Not sure about stolen valor etc because that would be a shame to find out. But he’s actually a great guy and one of the best in the business for what we require. I’ve seen him tend to broken legs and other minor injuries. Seemed pretty by the book.
So you’re basing your experience on him being a great guy??? According to all the legal documents you have never seen his EMS licenses or any documents stating he was ever a combat medic. He has been checked out through EMS and Stolen Valor, so that makes you just as at fault for not checking him. As an assistant director that means your job is to be responsible for safety. You are taking a chance of your project being shut down, lawsuits, and putting everyone in danger, including your stunt personal. All the paperwork is there, so why are you bringing this guy on your sets? Because he’s a nice guy?
My concern is what book is he going by? The book of google? Personally I believe you would have to read a book first to be able to go by it. I have relatives that work in Film and have had the unfortunate experience of working with him. They are terrified to get hurt. From what I was told he kisses ass of anyone who has anything to do with the hiring process. I also know there are dozens of trained, qualified, and certified medics and paramedics many with over 10 to 20 years of real Medical experience that are not fake. Isnt attending to a broken leg something that requires training? That alone sounds like you are applauding him for malpractice or possibly making the injury worse. Was he going by the book when he had 3 different people hold an old towel or shirt over an actors bleeding head while he vanishished for over 5 minutes apparently to get ice but came back empty handed. Maybe google said skip the ice and apply pressure? Im assuming he missed the section in the book on bloodborne pathogens. This guy is extremely dangerous and I agree he is a great guy. Hes great at fooling a lot of people for a long time and to still defend him after he has been proven a fraud makes him great? A great con and a great liability.
Unfortunately, you have never worked as a medic and don’t know anything about proper protocol, or have any medical training, correct? You are an assistant director which would not give you the authority to say he is the best in the business as a medic despite what you’ve seen. It sounds like this guy has fooled you into believing he’s a combat medic when it has been proven he never was. So now you are defending him based on what you’ve seen him do on your sets. How do you know what he was doing wasn’t dangerous and could have caused more damage? If he lied to you about Stolen Valor why would you still believe he is a medic? It sounds like that’s where the lie generated from being a combat medic. Why would you put your job at risk and the safety of others when the guy has lied? He probably thought his military records were sealed and he was safe. Sadly enough it sounds like he’s gotten away with it for a long time. I’m glad Stolen Vslor exposed him. I would stay clear of that guy for your own career.
I tell you what, DGA Member 1… when there’s an accident on the set and the injured party decides to get lawyers involved, just remember to tell the lawyers and the court that Garin Sparks is a “great guy” and that you didn’t take the time to check his credentials as an EMT (which he doesn’t have).
I’m real sure that the judge/jury will take all that into consideration when they make a decision…
Garin Sparks is practicing medicine without a license, no matter how “by the book” it “seemed” to you, or what a “great guy” you think he is. He can’t POSSIBLY be “the best in the business” if he is not certified as an EMT, which he clearly is not. (HINT: military medics have to be certified through NREMT just like civilians.)
Who are the idiots hiring him? He put Juris Doctor 2007 Fort Brag under education on his resume on Military Phony’s website. That means he has his first year law degree. He obviously didn’t know what that meant. Looking at his resume, it looks like a six year old wrote it, so how in the hell is he even working??? It’s bad enough they didn’t check for any licenses, but to hire him based on that resume, arrogance, promising it will be the best film ever with him on it? I would have to say these people are even stupider then he is!
Did the film industry not learn anything from Sarah Jones and her tragic death? Stolen Valor is serious enough, but him claiming he’s a combat medic when he has no documentation to verify it. A combat medic is an EMT and he has no licenses on record in the military or outside. If someone on a film set wants to believe this guy is so great, why don’t they ask to see his EMT license? If he can’t provide anything, then you’ll have your answer. Personally, he’s been caught for lying about his military claims, so right there he’s already chosen to be unethical. Ted Budy was a nice guy too…
If he’s in a union, maybe that’s why these productions aren’t checking his licenses. They must be assuming he’s legit. He obviously has committed fraud on his resume, and verbally, so why doesn’t someone report him to the international? I don’t think the state of Louisiana would want the bad publicity if they are fighting like hell to get film back to their state. Mathew Laub is the president for the international.
iapresident@IATSE.net
Deployed three times for overseas combat (his words) and received the Army Medal of Medicine. What gets into their minds after an otherwise honorable career.
